It works in a pinch but it can be very bad to get steam in the sweatband. It can dehydrate, blister, swell or crack the sweatband. Try steaming the lower part of the crown instead. Works the same but avoids all the potential problems of getting steam on the sweatband
Thx. I know how to stretch it, but the problem is that is shrinks back. Also never use hot steam on the sweat band. It will get blisters and get ruined for ever. I learned that the hard way.
Tip there's sometime a plastic line that runs along the top of the inner band if you don't cut this your hat won't stretch, that's the whole point of it 😑

Say that again! Did it once, and it literally crumbled...
Doesn't it depend on the material used for the sweatband? Which material are you referring to?
Exactly the info I needed. Thank you.
Very useful tips. Thanks for it.
What about leather hats? I have one, which doesn't sit comfortably on my head, as it has tight fitting. Can I use these tips?

Will this also work with a wool hat? What about a very stiff hat like a derby (bowler)?
I will try this, thanks!
Does that method works with rabbit fur fedora hats?
Thank you 😊
