Couple of things. Courtesy staging. Double bulbing noobies are annoying. Also, the car with the turnaround lane has the right of way at the end of the track, you don't want to turn in front of a car that might not be able to stop.
I staged accidentally on my first day at the track. Initially I had pre-staged, but a modded Nova pulled up beside me and distracted me. When I looked ahead, I must have unintentionally lightened up on the brake and I had staged. To my horror, the tree started and I was off. It was a Pro Tree. The Nova cleaned my clock anyway. Great explanation! Especially about the driver, make sure you can learn to drive well before sinking to much money in it lol not everyone can grasp the driving aspect! If thats you either save your money or start thinking about finding you a driver for your car and decide if thats the route you wanna take. No point in dropping stacks and stacks of money in a car that you can't get down the track in at its full potential
I tell new guys who get into the sport, "It's either all OK or none its OK". To race at a pro level, your better off buying a house or gold bullion. Most cars I see wont qualify in any class. I call them Frankensteins. The younger guys just run out of money to finish or fix their car.

I wouldn’t bother burning out on street tires. Slicks get better traction when heated up. Street tires get slick when hot. And it wears out the tread for no gain.
@@Sienn0 nope. optimal pressure for FWD is 40-45 front, 30-40 rear. It has a larger number upfront because the engine puts the front of the car down on the ground really hard, on top having it's power delivered to the front, and have most of the downforce touching the front first.
There are very slow cars out there. I saw a guy with a Karman Gia who did 22 seconds. The Challenger V6's go as quickly as the stock 340's did back in the day.

Also the only place bolt ons become an issue is gasser raving where sometimes they ask the very specifics you did exp: like make the rocker arms fit on a bigger stud etc.

I have a 2016 camaro rs 8-speed automatic. At the start of the race should I push the pedal all the way to the floor, or do it at a decent speed then slam on the gas? I’m new to this, so if I ever drag race I want to know what I’m doing beforehand
You want to give it everything it's got, while still keeping traction. So if flooring it makes the tires spin, then give it less, if it doesn't, then brake boost it a bit more until it's on the verge of slipping. That will give you the best launch possible
I wish I could help you but I race with a carbureted car so obviously it's different. Usually with 4 barrel carbs I would say smash the gas just enough were your car starts moving the best, which is where the last 2 barrels bearly open up.
Is it possible to run a trans break on an automatic trans? I feel so stupid for asking and probably going to get made fun of... But my Grandpa before he passed away, used to tell me about his college years drag racing Woodward Ave and I'm in the middle of building one of his old trucks (Not really old 07 silverado) into a tribute street strip truck for him. I'd like to go do either the Summit Midwest Drag Weeks or Rocky Mountain Drag Weeks maybe HRDW... I've just never launched the truck without holding the brakes. I'd like to do this in memory of my Gramps in one of his trucks 👍
I have a question because I'm confused, I read that my car needs to have a muffler on the exhaust but I'm going to get a muffler delete pipe, will I not be allowed to run on the strip without my muffler? Also, will it be bad running street tires on the strip? Or can you do multiple runs safely with streets
