A brilliant conversation just discovered thanks to the link on Patrick's website. So much was crammed in my thoughts were firing off in multiple directions simultaneously. Loved the juxapositions of pre-war/post-war perspectives. Also, I was sort of waiting to hear the name of Raymond Williams pop up - 'culture is ordinary' etc. - but he wasn't a London or 'estuary person' so understandable given the time limitation. Thank you both and everyone behind the scenes... including my fabulous local bookshop Little Toller Books here in Dorset.
Very, very interesting conversation. I wrote down a pile of notes that I need to look up. And nice camerawork too, thank you for that. The sociologist mentioned who wrote about the Isle of Sheppey is Raymond Pahl (it took me a while to discover the spelling of that name!) and the book is "Divisions of Labour".

Glad you enjoyed it! We will also pass on your kind comments to our resident film maker Jacob Cartwright.
