Amazing video! I'm curious if it will work on Black shimmer card stock. I generally have bad results on shimmer cardstock, even with the light color ones, and black shimmer cardstock just simply dont work for me, not sure if it is the brand I am using.
@nancy, I used the American Craft black cardstock to foil and it was a total mess. I don't think the foil was a reactive foil, but the entire cardstock was foiled and not just the print I printed.
Hi! Do you need to apply the foil immediately after printing, or can you print today, and say, foil a few hours after? I realized that our printer at home is an inkjet, and without a budget for a laser printer, I wanted to outsource the printing which needs a few hours travel time.
You can foil whenever. The toner doesn't expire. You can go to a copy shop and get images laser printed. Just make sure they use super smooth paper. White is always better than colored. You can find black & white laser printers for around $120 with back to school sales right now.
I hope I'm asking this question right and it may sound dumb, but when you print on the card stock is that just ink and the foil will stick to it? I guess I'm trying to ask how does the foil stick to the card stock before using the laminator? I asked because I bought the laminator that's in your video plus the cover but this is my first time doing this. Also, is there a way to not foil everything that's printed? Kindly advise. 😁😁😁
It has to be printed with a laser printer. The toner melts and the foil sticks to it. Anything printed with toner will stick to the foil regardless of color. I hope that helps.
how much would you recommend the brother laser printer you use? I think a problem most of us are having is finding a reliable laser printer for 300gsm that’s not crazy expensive 😩
Yes printers are hard to find at a reasonable price now because of Covid. I can manually feed thick paper in the front of the machine and it comes out the back. So I do recommend this one. I don't recommend paying more than $150 for it.

Glossy sticker paper is hard to foil on. There is a company on Facebook that sells it and it looks great. Search Bluebonnetfoil-rgv on Facebook and message her about the new glossy sticker paper. She also has beautiful toner foils. Make sure you print with a laser printer.

@@ConsiderIslam for this, it is best to purchase a monochrome (black) ink laser printer. They are pretty inexpensive. Also, make sure the printer has rear feed because heavy cardstock cannot cycle through the rollers of many laser printers.
I have secured the foil on top of the printed designs with tape and ran it through the printer again to adhere the foil with good success. Delete the design (temporarily) or print an empty file so that the printer is not trying to print on top of the foil. It will depend on the printer and the thickness of your cardstock, if you have enough clearance. I was nervous doing this at first. So use your judgment if this is something you want to try. But it has worked well for me.

Pearlescent cardstock works nice in most cases. As long as it is super smooth and not too thick.

It stays but can be scratched. If you make something like a card it's fine. For anything larger, maybe a plastic sleeve or frame?

Can you use normal laminator? And not the one you are using?
You can try it but most laminator don't get hot enough, let it heat up for at least 30 mins. This machine is made specifically for foiling.

I can do 100lb on mine.

I have the same 110lbs paper and my Xerox don't support the weight
