- Come along for the ride, as we have some overland fun in our return to the Ochoco National Forest.
Located just above the true geologic center of Oregon (Post, OR), the Ochoco NF has quickly become one of our favorite destinations. We somehow managed to not go here for a lot of years, despite it being so close! There is a lot of diversity here, in landscapes and wildlife to explore, and most importantly, it just has that VIBE that you want to return to.
The Historic Summit Trail is part of the Oregon Back Country Discovery Route, section 4.

I am camping and rockhounding just south of there at Hampton butte. I saw the national forest and trails on OnX off-road so I looked for videos. Ochoco with have to be my next trip out here. Nice video.

We love the Ochocos and usually explore them every year. It was enjoyable watching your adventure in them. We’ll probably not do them this year because we need a big break from traveling. We just got back from doing 5 weeks travel all around the southwest and we’re compiling videos to post about that epic bucket list trip. But, seeing your video did make us think for a second about packing up again and heading over there. Hmmm…
