Hello Vic and Jo. I have never ever posted a public comment but here goes for nothing! I have just received a parcel from my dear friend Jill containing a beautiful bag. You both radiate goodness, gentleness and a wonderful sense of humour. Your vlogs have given me such joy through a troublesome time and I'm even smiling whilst I write! The bag and a bit of your essence will be accompanying me on a hopefully 5 week camping trip very soon. You are giving so much more than just coffee and cake. Keep up the good work! Your child/children will be blessed! From grateful viewer Lizzie
Ah Lizzie it’s so lovely to hear from you! Yes we met Jill and she told us all about you. We’re so happy we could be a source of some good vibrations for you in a hard time. Hearing about that made us feel so touched and grateful, also a little emotional. We’re so pleased to be coming with you on your camping trip, even if only in essence form. We’ll keep you in our minds while we carry on messing about on canals and making videos about it! Thank you for leaving a comment and such kind words, we send our love to you and to Jill as well. Wishing you the best, Vic and Jo x
I do love dogs and had 2 beautiful Samoyds, but I don't begin to understand why some people seem to think Jo has to make doggy treats; as for dogs jumping in her serving window, what is the owner thinking.!! Jo has rto follow 'cleanliness regulations' and has the patience of a saint.
Thank you so much for your videos. I lost my home and almost everything I own on Monday due to flooding. Watching your videos each week has always helped me relax and forget about my worries and stresses. Now more so than ever, thank you.
All that care over cakes makes a HUGE difference. Flavour and atmosphere go together and your pride in Holly is so evident by the cleaning regime and diligence. Brilliant.
I have a whole new level of respect for you Jo. And you walk to get ingredients. Amazing. And I also absolutely love how your cakes are a little tilted on top - I think it should be called a "specialty" boat cake - you know your cake was baked fresh on a boat if it is ever so slightly slanted. Now I'm dreaming of boat cake.
What a wonderful glimpse into the daily business side of your life. I found it all very interesting from the rising early to get the baking done, to calibrating the coffee grinder to achieve that perfect shot. All those months of very hard work have paid off and you truly are having no trouble attracting clientele. I'm looking forward to seeing the baby becoming part of your daily lives, you two are going to be AMAZING PARENTS and that is going to be one very lucky child to have you. May God bless you three in your upcoming adventures along the canal.
Hiya Scott, it was so nice to meet you! Thanks so much for being our first customer that day, and for letting us film you :-D Glad you enjoyed the coffee cake and hopefully see you again soon!
On a sunday, my mum would bake cakes, cookies, slices and biscuits to feed the eight of us for the coming week. It was always a battle, but the six kids always got a bowl or a mixing spoon to lick clean. We always thought we were helping mum by doing some of the dishes . I hope not.
How lovely to actually be taken through your week. Really makes me appreciate all the things you have to do to ensure come the weekend you are prepared and ready to go. It's always a pleasure to see your smiling positivity - and nothing is nicer than creating dreams and memories with someone you love 💞. Thank you for letting me share your journey.
Watching Jo make cakes reminds me of my wife cooking pallets of corn and beans for Del Monte when she was carrying our first child oh so many years ago. You guys rock! She still does. 56 years and counting.
Several of the coffee shops in the area that I live offer a little treat for dogs. Even at well known nationwide coffee stores you can get these. When I order coffee for myself, I ask for a "pup cup" as well That is just a small paper cup of whipped cream. Most use the inexpensive kind you purchase in grocery stores that comes in a spray can. It doesn't take much, just a few ounces to make a dog's day. I swear it makes them smile. BTW, I have followed your entire journey of transforming Holly into a beautiful floating coffee shop. I am so impressed at what you both have accomplished.
I don't know how, but your videos just get better each week, my good lady wife just commented, you just don't imagine people on boats having a takeaway 😋
It's cruel and unusual punishment to watch you make cakes particularly any with Walnuts next to Vic my favorite nut. I could be cross but who could be cross with a lady like you and with a bun in the oven as well as cakes Good sales sunny skies lots of cake loving gong goozlers.....I can almost smell the coffee from here in Canada ....now look what you've done I'm hungry! Cheers from Canada
Loved the cake making, reminds me of watching mum and cleaning out the bowl with sticky fingers before it was washed up. My favourite was apple pies with cookers fresh from the garden, cream or custard on the top. Being an early bird I would be looking for a dawn coffee if I was moored near you, the smell of cakes and coffee would drive me nuts and you would see nail scratches in your paint work with me trying to get in. It must be terrible for Vic seeing the last slice of his favourite cake being sold. Stay safe you two, happy boating and baking, thanks for the lesson.
Oh! The collie there at 20:07 brings to mind a much loved and much missed family pet of the 1970s. She was a rescue from a puppy mill at 3 years old and became quite the character, we wonder if she had ever had the chance to just be a puppy herself because whatever us kids were doing that was active or rough and tumble she wanted right in the middle of it & the more active it was, the better! Nerf football (US style) and soccer were her 2 favorite things to play with us. Once she got that soccer ball between her 4 legs there was no getting it away from her until she let it go! It was hilarious when we took her on canoe trips with us; for the first while she'd go the the water edge and do an "eewww, nasty" routine -- but then at some point you'd turn around and she'd be in the water up to her armpits just grinning away! And no matter which way we were going in the canoe on a river she always sat facing upriver, wonder what that was all about. Yeah, I could tell stories on her for an hour. :D
Lovely video, Jo looking more beautiful by the week, cakes looking fabulous too. It`s great that you are both so focused on your individual jobs. Must visit one day.
I think this was my favorite episode, ever. The commitment Jo has for quality ingredients and fresh bakes, and Vic learning barista skills to balance out the work just showcases how well you work as life/business partners. Bravo to you guys from New York! Where can I buy a Holly tote bag? ❤️❤️🍰🍰☕️☕️🛶
I passed you both while out walking last Monday you were coming back towards Tixall wide, I saw the Cafe boat named Holly my Dads nick name was Holly this is why it intrigued me and found the channel have watched all of the videos and just subscribed live in Rugeley so will come and try the cakes and coffee any Bakewell at all?
Watching through the vlog while you shopped and prepared cakes tidied cleaned, and of course skived.... I can’t imagine you getting stressed Jo. As I’ve said before you both seem to bounce off each other. I loved the PS! I’m pregnant....
I'm putting on weight just watching your cooking Jo :) What an absolute droolfest :) If we weren't on the other side of the world we'd be haunting your cafe :)
Thoroughly enjoyed this vlog...as usual! You two are so adorable to watch as your dream unfolds. You are a real life pair who aren't afraid of hard work, who support each other everyday, and ALWAYS have a smile on your faces and a positive attitude...! You never take things too seriously or become glum when s*** happens. You are my favorite narrowboat couple and I can't wait to see your adorable baby when he/she arrives...! (although my guess is it's a boy...wink wink) lol xx
I so enjoyed watching you in your kitchen Jo. I'm a cake baker too & watching you in the kitchen is a real pleasure. Just a tip.....the berries in the blueberry lemon cake will be better dispersed throughout the cake if you toss them in a little flour before adding them to the batter.......I'll bet you already knew that.😉🍰😊
Hi Jo and Vic. memo to self... don't watch Holly the Cafe boat videos before you've had dinner... OMG, talk about working up an appetite! Jo, you've got to do some cooking vlogs (starting with your bread recipes).. your baking is so good. Never realised quite how much work you put in over a weekend. Stay happy and healthy and keep up the great work.. 🍷🍷
So, are you making a living from the cafe boat? Obviously a bit tricky with lockdown but this could very well improve in the next few weeks. How’s it looking? I think you guys are great.
Don't usually comment but felt the need to say "that's one of your best videos yet and I really enjoyed watching" good luck and best wishes for the future. Regards Col.
Absolutely great video. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I seem to enjoy your ''running the cafe'' videos more than your ''walking through picturesque countryside'' videos! Whatever, love 'em all. Thank you for what you do.
Jo, Vic, What a amazing happy Vlog. So interesting sharing your time with you on Holly baking. You two are such a lovely couple. Your Vlogs are so well made, so professional and superbly edited. Yes, you guys are one amazing power-couple. Loved every minute (of this weeks Vlog). Thank you. Take Care.
Loved this cafe vlog, I like how you keep things fresh and simple whilst enjoying and working with the challenges that boat life/business can bring. So inspiring to see you living and working outside the box, happy people 😌
Dogs wanting cake! What a lovely collie. Loved the insight into your cafe life. Mondays must come with a sigh of relief. BTW, making dog biscuits would be cool. They could be made mid week because they wouldn't have to be totally fresh. Dogs aren't that discerning!
Wow, guys, what a great look at your regular days. You work so hard and you are having some great days for your business. A Drive-By too, that was different. Did you plan on that happening or was it a surprise for you? Part of the joy of your Vlogs is the wonderful community around you that have come for miles just to taste your cakes, enjoy your beverage and give you their business. That is just so amazing, such a wide community of support. I can't do much from Down under but I have put some Coffee payments into your system just to help out. Jo, you are looking like the perfect Mum-to-be. The walking, keeping active, the smiles. You are all having the time of your lives at this business. Congratulations on defining your dreams and making them happen. Stay safe and well. Cheers. PS: Any plans to be like the "NB Chefs" and release a Canal Cookbook?
I'm the one who drove by.... Definitely a surprise to Jo & Vic. I've been avidly following their vlog and we were leaving Gtreat Haywood when I knew Holly was in Tixall Wide. Just had to stop, but they'd sold out of cakes...
@@crossinhandfarm LOL, should have yelled out earlier and asked Jo to put some aside for you. Oh, hang on, that won't work as well if the goal was to surprise them ;)
Jo and Vic, your vlogs are simply lovely and a joy to watch. I have been fascinated with your innovative, professional, hilarious and heartwarming lifestyle. Thank you for sharing your daily life. I wish I had access to a canal system here in SC, USA. Would love to sample your delicious baked goods, need to add a visit to the UK canal system to my bucket list. The best to you and baby JoVi. P.S. Jo, have you considered baking dog biscuits to sell to the pup visitors?
Great video ,A tip when cooking cakes in the oven, is to get 4 chains connect them to the 4 corners of the rack which will be on the top shelve and then connect the chains to another rack which will be loose (A bit like a swing ).The cakes will be balance out when cooking .
Hi jo & vic, love all your adventures Iv been following from the start. Jo a little suggestion that might help you for the next few months while you are busy, try making the scone dough then roll into a log wrap in cling wrap and put in fridge overnight next day just cut the log and then pop in oven same time as you would normally bake for. Iv done this method 100s of time and I personally think the scones are far better for resting overnight. It also helps if you get a rush as it just takes few minutes to pop another batch in oven. Btw this is how all the top hotels & restaurants do it ready for High tea. They also freeze excellent in this way, however I do completely agree with you about the cakes they don’t freeze great imo. Jo you are glowing in your pregnancy 🤰 have a great busy summer xxx
The cakes- to die for! Can you send slices to the colonies? Like over here in Canada? Fab vlog as per usual, and one more thing to die for…that gorgeous collie. Cheers! See you next week!
We can’t wait to try your cakes and coffee. How you work Jo! Surely you must be feeling the heat and of course, being pregnant. Every cake we see, looks delicious. It must be a problem for you to store enough ingredients even to last the weekend. So therefore you need to be within fairly easy reach of a shop, constantly. Lovely video as always.
Lovely to 'follow along with you' over your weekend, unfortunately you are a still a bit far away for a flying visit ... but that coffee & walnut cake looked amazing!!
Saw you blueberry bread with the berries all sunken to the bottom of the loaf. I'm a life long home baker( since 9 was 9 yrs.old. I'm retired now.) If you take your berries ( of any kind) toss them with a tablespoon or 2 of flour then add them to your batter, it stops them from sinking to the bottom. It works! I've done it for decades!
Pro Tip: If you can, scan your recipes, move stuff around in Photoshop, or CorelDraw if you need to rearrange it, put two recipes back to back on A4 sheets, laminate. I did this for my wife and myself, so the books stay out of the kitchen and we can wipe down the laminated recipes. Bonus - the books are no longer getting covered in ****!!! And it is easier to bluetac a laminated sheet to the wall than battle a sliding, descending recipe book. Another delightful video. Thanks for sharing.
Hi there. I've only recently come across your channel and I'm really enjoying your videos. You seem such a friendly, approachable couple and your cakes look amazing. It looks like you have a great lifestyle, although I'm sure that weekends are manic. Hope to see you on 'the cut' one day for a coffee and a piece of drizzle cake. Keep up the good work and have fun. 👍😀
Hi guys, what a combination of such happiness 😊 all my favourite things aswell... CAKE!! ,Coffee & our lovely canals, looking forward to finding you one weekend when I'm chugging along.. such a joy to see rays of happiness & your ideas & hard work bringing you more joy & even beyond that your capturing & sharing so thank you for this, wishing you all the best future adventures 🌻😊
Really pleased it’s going so well for you two (3 soon!). Gosh, do you ever work hard on Cafe days! Here’s to a super busy summer season for you. We’re on the cut next week and if you’re near I’m sure we’ll be able to follow our nose to find you. Keep it up guys.
Thank you for a very enjoyable look into your weekly preparations. You are in my old county now so good to see some of the surrounding countryside. Have a good week and stay safe.
Been watchen you 2 for a while an share with a friend that lives in Bristol. She misses her narrow boat but she had to sell it. She enjoys your volg. Keep it up.
Thankyou ever so much it was extremely entertaining. A insight to how your week unfolds. A good partnership. Keep on keeping well and getting closer to bubs arrival
Wow, just found your Vlog two days ago, and have watched them all to date. While I follow a good many DIYers building homesteads and tiny homes(mostly in the USA) I started following Cruising the Cut last year and have enjoyed a few Vlogs about Narrowboating, but none like yours. For Jo; a gimbel over(as used on Sailboats) would fix your problem with your cakes. and they also have small kindling wood spliters(you don't need an axe). Vic; your wit and they way you and Jo banter back and forth. Love watching you both and look forward to seeing more.
Thank you for this insight into your cafe: what a great idea! How about a recipe book holder, Jo??? I'd love to see your scone recipe: the prep looks most unusual...
I noticed the stick holding up the hatch. Classic. Our hatches always had big, medium and small sticks, with small notches in the ends to help keep them in place.
I’m a bit late watching this episode, it was great, I loved it. I wanted to offer a little bit of advise, to help your stress levels and ease the Sunday morning re load of cakes. Everyone loves fresh cakes and as you mentioned “ no body wants a stale scone “. Have you considered making a batch of cookies, flapjack & millionaires shortbread ? They are products that are happy to sit for a few days. Make a batch of these and you can roll them out as back up, mainly for Sunday’s. You are looking really well through your pregnancy & Vic still makes me laugh. In fact, he could give Mr Bean a run for his money with his facial expressions Philippa
Also, having helped run a restaurant, I'm thinking that the "nerve bag" feeling is adrenaline and in my experience, it never goes away...It's part of the thrill! Thanks for your hard work in creating this vlog. I watch you every week and have longed to see how you run the cafe boat - I especially love seeing happy customers (I know you can't really film them unless they agree) enjoying your cafe. I wish you all good things! And Vic - you're editing and music is excellent.
Loved this weeks vlog. One question what kind of video does Vic edited while you taping this week video? Well must be a busy time in the summer for y’all Love chocolate anything I’d buy too 👏👏👏 great week thanks 😊 lots of love from Louisiana 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
The music that’s in this video, that drum beat with the snare drum, keeps reminding me of that song Young Folks by Peter Bjorn and John. I keep singing along with the Young Folks lyrics each time it starts up ❤
You’d be amazed at how many people come out when there is a little something happening on the towpath. There was recently a little arts and crafts fair near to me. My neighbours took their boat down (they paint and sell canal art) and just about sold everything. It’s only a village but word spreads quickly. Hopefully it will be Hollys next destination as they are not very far away now 😊
I've always dreamed of having a charming tea room or bed and breakfast but, honestly, after watching this video I'm exhausted! What a schedule. We wondered why you only opened on weekends and now we know. Well done you! Great video. Very eye opening.
I understand doing videos...like you do ..takes a lot of time... but i LOVE them.. its the best youtube of the week...wort waiting 4.. offcorse u sell out...the cakes look delich :-)
If ever 2 people are perfect together, it's you 2!!!! You're both so lovely and so hard working!!! Your cakes look delicious!! I can't wait to see the wee baby coming. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️
Great video. Though you look great Jo, your voice ( accent really ) is wonderful. You never complain about your workload and always take time to praise Vic. Everything you bake i could eat ten of. Perfect couple, an absoloute masterclass in man / woman ideal life. Good luck when baby arrives.
Another brilliantly spent 33 + minutes watching you both, ok mainly Jo, but mustn’t forget Vic, he looks so adoringly at you Jo and who can blame him, a truly adorable couple. So pleased that you are doing so well, very much hope we’ll be within easy distance from you sometime as I’m looking forward to trying some of your delicious sounding cakes and coffee.
😃. Fantastic , and ....... doggie biscuits!!! How far you’ve come since all that DIY!! 😆. Would SO love to catch you guys 😀 Yes the cafe at our marina makes a bundle on the 50p sausage for the dog, and that’s just OUR old dog who heads straight there on our walk!!😉

You're not wrong, and what's more, they are a couple of super handsome people with such a lovely disposition!! :)
All in all, it’s just a winning combination of all mentioned above. Love watching it!
Thank you so much for your videos. I lost my home and almost everything I own on Monday due to flooding. Watching your videos each week has always helped me relax and forget about my worries and stresses. Now more so than ever, thank you.

Enjoyed my time with you again. Thaks for a wonderful video.
Hi. Those helicopters were Puma's doing a nationwide flypast to mark 50 years in service for the RAF.
I never want your videos to end, I hate it when I see the little pictures pop up as I know that is it for another week , great video :)
Great video ,A tip when cooking cakes in the oven, is to get 4 chains connect them to the 4 corners of the rack which will be on the top shelve and then connect the chains to another rack which will be loose (A bit like a swing ).The cakes will be balance out when cooking .
I really hope you know how much happiness you vlogs give me and how much love I have for the both of you Silly old man Bless you 😊
Everything is ship shape and Bristol fashion! Great work!
It was a pleasure to meet you on Sunday and the Coffee cake and Cappuccino were worth the journey alone. Thank you 😊
Nice vlog! You r both so natural in front of camera, it's great to see. O and the cakes looked delicious!!! Yum!!!🍰🧁🍦☕🙂
Great vlog, wonderful scenery, lovely couple, narrowboats and cakes, the perfect combination :)
Absolutely brilliant, Jo you are a genius. Great videos keep them coming. Peace and god bless from Tom in Lancashire.
Flash bang!
Life is all about change good luck and sleep is just a luxury
You need a long pole and a tray at the end of it for the boats gong by. Wonderful to watch this week.
That black dress with the yellow flowers is so cute
Those cakes look delicious. You need a calendar with a cake recipe for each month.
I love home made cooking it's the best cakes dinners anything home made ☺💜
Lovely to 'follow along with you' over your weekend, unfortunately you are a still a bit far away for a flying visit ... but that coffee & walnut cake looked amazing!!
I love how organised you are .
Loving your blogs ...very inspiring x
Great insight to your week … welldone loved it 🇬🇧👍
Hi guys, what a combination of such happiness 😊 all my favourite things aswell... CAKE!! ,Coffee & our lovely canals, looking forward to finding you one weekend when I'm chugging along..
such a joy to see rays of happiness & your ideas & hard work bringing you more joy & even beyond that your capturing & sharing so thank you for this, wishing you all the best future adventures 🌻😊
In fact, he could give Mr Bean a run for his money with his facial expressions
Philippa
would love to one travel again and come over and hunt you guys down for some of that cake lol keep up the good work
Dan & Jo you’ve nailed it again.
Can't wait till you come up the grand union canal
Loved this weeks vlog. One question what kind of video does Vic edited while you taping this week video? Well must be a busy time in the summer for y’all Love chocolate anything I’d buy too 👏👏👏 great week thanks 😊 lots of love from Louisiana 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
We’ve watched from the beginning; we enjoy your positivity, hard work and Thanks for the CC!
Loved the episode this week! Great filming and the music was really well chosen. What a lovely life you lead.
The music that’s in this video, that drum beat with the snare drum, keeps reminding me of that song Young Folks by Peter Bjorn and John. I keep singing along with the Young Folks lyrics each time it starts up ❤
This is one of your most interesting videos! Thoroughly enjoyed this one. Now I’m on the hunt for a good piece of cake and a coffee!
You’d be amazed at how many people come out when there is a little something happening on the towpath. There was recently a little arts and crafts fair near to me. My neighbours took their boat down (they paint and sell canal art) and just about sold everything. It’s only a village but word spreads quickly. Hopefully it will be Hollys next destination as they are not very far away now 😊
@@mattsandilands6380 oh, I wish….I’m a transplanted Canadian living in the US Midwest!
Loved seeing how you get ready for a Holly weekend! Beautiful cakes and insight 😋

Brilliant as always.....any chance we can see the wedding video and pictures you promised a while back...pretty please...xx
If ever 2 people are perfect together, it's you 2!!!! You're both so lovely and so hard working!!! Your cakes look delicious!! I can't wait to see the wee baby coming. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️
Great café and cake commitment! PS, did I see you kissing the milkman? 😄
Looks lovely those cakes etc 😍
Great to see you got the drive by, we did say it’d happen.
😃. Fantastic , and ....... doggie biscuits!!!
How far you’ve come since all that DIY!! 😆. Would SO love to catch you guys 😀
Yes the cafe at our marina makes a bundle on the 50p sausage for the dog, and that’s just OUR old dog who heads straight there on our walk!!😉
Even though I've lived on the canals 16 years and I've met you both, I'm really enjoying your vlogs ... well done u2 🌞 soon to be 3
My favorite Vlog of yours by far! It was packed full of what you go through to sustain yourselves ❤
