      The funny thing about that description is I once heard that it's so thick it would be better described as a bladed club, so by definition it is literally too big to be called a sword

      @@narcoticman7310 brutalism usually refers to architecture, it's a very raw, expressive style, strong geometry, simple materials, etc. I'm mostly saying in comparison to brutalism this is peak design, and this build definitely encapsulates the pure, raw feeling I get from reading the manga. It's a beast weapon lol

      @@StoriesOfASaytr If we're talking a 'pull over your shoulder and let the weight do the work' chop where the shoulder acts as a pivot point, I suspect a few strongmen could do it. Now, I don't know if they could manage to make it over the shoulder to drop edge first though.

    Months of work, but it was worth it. Best part is that you made it from an actual big ass slab of metal, its no joke that if someone could wield this, they would be capable of killing a dragon.

      he can't hold it by its handle because it's not full tang. it only has a couple of inches of threading, it'll bend if you try to pick it up by the handle

      If you really think about it, the original blank started at 516lb and the finished sword was 324lb. That's enough for probably 50 swords or more!

    This is by far the most insane display of sword craftsmanship on youtube. I feel like there was a single part of this blade that was made conventionally. It seemed like you had to come up with unique techniques for everything

    What makes this the absolute PEAK of all Dragonslayers made is that it is actually made like it was in the manga. not some fancy bunch of complex bullshit, Just a sharpened slab of metal and a handle. Truly beautiful to see a quite literal "manga-accurate dragonslayer"

    Whenever i imagined someone making a legit uncompromised Dragon Slayer, I thought for sure it have had more mechanization, like hydraulic lifts and arms and whatnot. Have to respect you did by yourself in your shop.

    I made anvils using similar methods with play ranging from 2-4" thick ..... it was a real bear wrestling that stuff with nothing but a torch and the minimal milling equipment I had at the time. You did a wonderful job and it's been fun watching.

    Now that is HEAVY. There were some really heavy swords in medieval europe up to about 20 kg but no where near as heavy as yours. And the swords were not really used in war either, they were training swords. You'd swing them at a log all today everyday. The idea was when you get your real sword it would feel so light you'd be able hit your foe so hard you'd puncture their armor.

    I know this isn’t usually your thing, but the single shot cannon arm Guts wields would be cool to see. I always thought it was the coolest thing in manga when he opened a fight with a cannon blast and then charged in with the dragon slayer.
