No other options to 37-keys or less is a bit lame though. Good for noobs/non-pianists/one-handed people I suppose, but with FL's Python MIDI scripting, I'd imagine they're a bit pointless for many.
maudio oxygen pro mini also works well with fl studio and many other daw program. these FLkey midi keyboards from Novation are good but it is a shame that you cannot use them with other daws too. I would expect these also had the capabilities of the launchkey line midi keyboard products.
Same price as the mpk mini and mpk225 respectively. Dope there’s finally something out there that doesn’t take so much work around or programming to get up and running.
As a hobbyist, I can fully recommend this to anyone working with FL studio without a MIDI keyboard. After watching this video, I sat on the decision for a while, because there's no point in getting something you won't use. I got the FL Key 37 in November 2022 after producing with essentially no equipment except an interface for a long time. It's improved my workflow to the point where making beats is just part of my daily life again. 10/10, would recommend to anyone who's comfortable with FL Studio but doesn't see the point in just another fancy MIDI keyboard.

@@YoItsOO the smallest midi keyboards have 25 keys. I started out using a 25 key midi keyboard and it was really effective as a beginner and much better than just clicking on pressing random notes on the keypad. Get a 25 key midi keyboard. If you use FL, get the FLKey. I have one and I love it

I Agree a 61 is what I'm looking for as well. Any news if there bringing one out? I'd guess 49key first for £269.99 and probably £340 ish for a 61. £450 + for a 88. I wouldlike to see some volume faders in the top right corner for volume and use the twisty knows for pan and automation etc. The only reason I've not bought the 37 is I want a 49 or 61😉
@@YoItsOO Two octaves is actually perfect, because you can always transpose your midi into another octave. Two octaves is not good for “Live” playing though lol, most musicians prefer to have at least 4 to 5 full octaves for performing live.
It's awesome to see novation working with image line on this product! The launchpad and launch key for ableton were fantastic and this is no different. Just another great product for a large userbase

I feel like I've had the exact same experience. I've tested at least half a dozen controllers (and not made a video about them!) because they just don't work no matter what I try.
Tim Exile did some mad things with just a PC keyboard and basic generic MIDI controllers. A few knobs, sliders and buttons (and a few more keys than 37) is all you need really.
Thanks for sharing Michael. I have the Launchkey Mini, which is close enough to the FLKey mini. Plugged into FL Studio producer it works a treat and takes up next to no space on my desk. Great little tool that makes a huge difference.
The Software included is worth more than the whole keybord😱 The XLN Audio Addictive Keys alone is 90€ the two Klevgrand plug ins are 40€ each and the AAS Session bundle adds another 100€. Thats just a crazy deal in itself. Its amazing
holy hell it just gets better every day. Lowkey jealous but definitely happy for new producers, you can pick up a magnificent setup for really cheap, get amazing included instruments, and if they want to synthesize stuff, they can use vital for free, absolutely amazing. One thing that shocked me when I saw it was the 5 pin midi out. I always thought if we ever got a controller with integrated FL Studio support, it would be strictly midi via USB. Being able to easily hook this thing up to desktop synths and volcas makes this thing amazing imo
Mine arrives tomorrow. I went for an Akai MPK mini+ but then realised that was a stupid decision as sweet FA works out the box with FL. Lots of hoops to get it useful - returned instantly! Can't wait. My first FLS dedicated controller since starting with FL like.....12-15 years ago.

Yayyyy so stoked I spent the money on the 37 key mk3 only to figure out they never planned on integrating fl studio so now I have to buy their fl studio dedicated version. Yayyyyy novationnnn
This looks absolutely amazing! Any FL Studio user who does not have a MIDI controller, should get this controller. Novation makes really good quality stuff. I wish I could have waited for this, but unfortunately, I have already purchased Novation Launchkey 61 mk3. I also do prefer to have more keys. Exactly what I was gonna say. I've been using Fruity for 20 years and I'm only gonna end up going in with a mouse and editing everything anyway... That's just me though. Personally I would love to see a controller, no keys, transport, faders for mixer (motorised?), shortcuts keys for paino roll modes (pencil etc), snap to grid dial, display for osc/analyser, current instrument properties button, and a bunch of assignable controls. Maybe some buttons for each window, instruments, mixer, playlist etc...
@@silkee Get that 100% and I know you're not alone. Personally though, my favorite way to work is to begin my track with as much tactility as possible - pads for the one-shots, tweak levels and the sequencer (depending on the controller), etc, then get in there and micro-edit with kb + m when it's time. Best of both worlds.
I'm just beginning my new DAW journey with the purchase of the FLkey 37 and FL Studio Producer. There is a lot to learn! Looking forward to starting your video series and having some fun and creative music production.
I wish they would make available the configurations for those keyboard. I own a Launchkey mini mk3, which is… basically the same layout as the FLKeys mini. I don’t even mind paying money for it. If only I wouldve waited a little bit longer 😭
This is what we needed but never asked, the workflow with this controller will make everything more faster and creative, definitely this is another step for Image-Line, Novation and FL users!
I just wanted to add in, for those who don't know, that there are octave transpose buttons so the 37 keys can reach every note on a piano. However, it sounds like you are an experienced keys player and need many more octaves?
@@inthemix Not quite experienced, but I always felt more confortable with at least 49 keys when sketching ideas. Also, how's sensitive is the keyboard please? I always found hard to dig good midi controller that can handle velocities well.
Nice , but a shame they haven't done a 61 key version! thanks for the info , without ( in the mix )fl studio would not be the same , if your stuck on fl studio this is the channel to look up.
They should’ve made a 49 key at minimum! And I see a lot of people even wanting bigger. But also how did you not mention about the preset change buttons??? They’re a huge deal and I wonder if it opens up the possibility for 3rd party controllers and VST’s to also be able to start using preset/patch change buttons
I think keeping it at 37 suits the vast majority of users and allows them to keep the quality high. From talking to many producers and musicians, most people who want more keys are professional pianists who would want a dedicated hammer-action electric piano over midi alongside a smaller midi keyboard for synths. What do you think about that? Are there any songs you couldn't play with 37 keys and the octave buttons? I didn't mention the preset buttons which are indeed a brilliant feature. I must admit that I don't tend to scroll presets so I didn't include it in the review as I felt it wouldn't be completely faithful to the way I use the device. I hope that makes sense. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
@@inthemix Are there any songs you couldn't play with 37 keys and the octave buttons? Brother if I am in the mood to play Bach I need at least 5 octaves, and with Chopin 7 octaves
The FLKey both have far more functionality and will be preferred by those who want keys and full size pads. I will be using the FLKey as a day-to-day controller from now on, if that helps. :)
Daaaamn!!! How I wish this could have come earlier 😭. I just bought the novation launckey Mini MK3 a few months ago but I'm an FL user. Though it's a blessing in disguise, i had to learn how to use Ableton Live to maximize it's full potential and it's been super fun so far. Great review, thanks for the update.
I Have had the FL Key 37 for a Year, Still can't get it working & its made for FL. What a waist of my life & money.i feel like smashing it over my knee.
This isn’t meant to be condescending but are you running the latest version of both fl studio and flkey? I struggled with setting it up but soon as I updated everything it just happened It’s literally plug n play so you might just need to update
Love the videos as always! Definitely gonna get my hands on the FLKey37 after watching your review. An efficient workflow is an understatement with us FL Studio users using this thing! 😍🤤
Great review! Thanks so much for going so in depth. Really excited about getting my paws on this. Your last statement about being hands on with the production is exactly the feeling I’ve been missing as well. So pumped to finally see a midi controller that will work right out of the box for FL studio. Rejoice 🙌
I managed to upgrade my copy of FL Studio Producer Edition to All Plugins Edition, definitely worth it since it unlocks all the plugins that come natively with FL Studio.
glad I checked this out, I was considering getting the 25 key version...played around with FL Studio years ago (2004-2005 era) and after starting to learn to play the piano again over the last few years, I wanted to mess around with FL Studio again! Then I found out about these keyboards and found your video and how you mentioned that midi keyboards tend to not work well with FL Studio and now my choice is clear
It totally caught me off guard too. I knew little about the device until it arrived (the way I like it) and that was a real selling point for me. I'm still having fun with it right now!
Recently I agreed to remake a friend's older project. He sent me the stems and instantly noticed the vocals had been compressed to all hell.. I'm not joking the whole waveform looked like this.. IIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII ..And his original recordings where lost somewhere outside of time itself. Anyhow, using what you've taught me over various videos I had alot of fun sculpting transients back into the wave. I only used stock plugins (Limiter and Maximus) and basic maths, as i was working on it I thought that could be a great tutorial video you could make in the future.. Take it easy :)
Stellar review!!! I just bought the Launchkey 37 Mk3 today here in Stockholm. I choose not to get the Akai Fire, it just didn't make sense. Launchkey 37 did, though I will have to mess around to get it to work with FL 20. That was where I was at till now. What would be great is if Novation came out with an firmware update/Mapping that can be downloaded for all the FL users that purchased and are using the Launchkey mk3 series. There's a ton of them, and more going back to the MK2 series. The FL Key is proper kit for FL Studio 20. Akai Fire, not fire. Novation did it right. Now, if Novation does the something for SL Mk3 series, I'm all in!!! SL Mk3 is actually the keyboard controller I wanted to get in the first place, yet it doesn't work with FL. Easily. I've seen one guy use the 61SL MKIII with FL Studio, link below. All in all this is great news, Novation rocks and so do you In The Mix!!! 👍👋💥😍Liquidism - Melodic Rave (Live Novation 61SL MKIII + FL Studio) ua-cam.com/video/NXSSbK1S-ME/v-deo.html

I’m focussing on producing EDM. It started 6 months ago, I invested a lot of time in FL Studio. Bought all plugins edition on black friday. Everything I did on a Macbook (2015). So now after watching this video, I have high hopes for the MIDI controllers that are linked to FL Studio. Might order the FLkey Mini for the good.

I'm the same, mouse and kb powaa!
Using just a mouse gets my records on the radio... I'm still buying one of these keyboards asap
Just paid an order for the 37key. South African Producer 👋🏽 is saying thank you for this video, Mike. This is what I was looking for from Novation 🥺😭
I’m so happy for you. I hope you get many years of joy and music from it!
Just bought one can't wait to get back home and try it out
I wish they would make available the configurations for those keyboard. I own a Launchkey mini mk3, which is… basically the same layout as the FLKeys mini. I don’t even mind paying money for it. If only I wouldve waited a little bit longer 😭
Same situation with me😀 I wish there is the way to update previous launchkey mini mk3 to FL version.
This is what we needed but never asked, the workflow with this controller will make everything more faster and creative, definitely this is another step for Image-Line, Novation and FL users!
I hope they will extend the range to 61 keys, would be an instant buy then (or just do a keyboard-less version)
I just wanted to add in, for those who don't know, that there are octave transpose buttons so the 37 keys can reach every note on a piano. However, it sounds like you are an experienced keys player and need many more octaves?
I currently use a Nektar Impact LX61 and I would drop it in an instant for a 61 key version of this... As I said to Novation on twitter!
@@inthemix Not quite experienced, but I always felt more confortable with at least 49 keys when sketching ideas. Also, how's sensitive is the keyboard please? I always found hard to dig good midi controller that can handle velocities well.
@@3D63music In my opinion, the keyboard is highly sensitive (in a good way). I can really dig into it if needed but playing soft is easy too.
@@inthemix Thanks for the info =)
Ordered the Novation FL 37 one after seeing this video 👍. Finally this is the keyboard that we all waited for. Thank you for the fine review Michael.
Nice , but a shame they haven't done a 61 key version! thanks for the info , without ( in the mix )fl studio would not be the same , if your stuck on fl studio this is the channel to look up.
Thank you so much for the kind words!
@@inthemix Thanks for your help, please see my question
@@Dougschannel59 you didnt ask a question
@@PenguinCinema I did Its futher down the psge
You can request it here! I already did, but we need to raise our voices! support.novationmusic.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new
This keyboard has turbo charged my workflow, thanks for a great review!
Where is my 88 keys version?
@@inthemix Are there any songs you couldn't play with 37 keys and the octave buttons? Brother if I am in the mood to play Bach I need at least 5 octaves, and with Chopin 7 octaves
wow, im glad this is out now. i have the fl studio fire and this keyboard will work wonderfully with my set up!!!!
How does it compare to Akai Fire in terms of functionality for FL STUDIO?
The FLKey both have far more functionality and will be preferred by those who want keys and full size pads. I will be using the FLKey as a day-to-day controller from now on, if that helps. :)
Everything is prefect, just I don't have money 🥺
I can now sell my launchkey37 and grab the FLKey37 amazing! Workflow simplified to the max! Thanks Novation and Image-Line!!!
FL STUDIO GRAND is the best MIDI controller 😂
If the Grand had some drum pads it would be ideal ;)
thanks for covering the pitch bend and the modulation differences between both ! such an important thing that people are expecting and you nothing !
I’m the first ❤️
im the second ayoo < 3
What exact issues are you having with it?
This isn’t meant to be condescending but are you running the latest version of both fl studio and flkey?
I struggled with setting it up but soon as I updated everything it just happened
It’s literally plug n play so you might just need to update
Your my go to channel for all my FL needs. Thanks for all the great help 🙏🏻❤️💯
Love the videos as always! Definitely gonna get my hands on the FLKey37 after watching your review. An efficient workflow is an understatement with us FL Studio users using this thing! 😍🤤
That's great to hear!
Great review! Thanks so much for going so in depth. Really excited about getting my paws on this. Your last statement about being hands on with the production is exactly the feeling I’ve been missing as well. So pumped to finally see a midi controller that will work right out of the box for FL studio. Rejoice 🙌
I'm glad you posted this, Michael! I had an Amazon gift card sitting around and pulled the trigger on the 37 key, thanks for the info!
I managed to upgrade my copy of FL Studio Producer Edition to All Plugins Edition, definitely worth it since it unlocks all the plugins that come natively with FL Studio.
Yes Brotha!!! I buyed today 💜 In love!!!!
I'm happy for you! I hope you get many years of joy from your new keyboard.
@@inthemix Thanks Legend 🙏
I've been waiting for this
glad I checked this out, I was considering getting the 25 key version...played around with FL Studio years ago (2004-2005 era) and after starting to learn to play the piano again over the last few years, I wanted to mess around with FL Studio again! Then I found out about these keyboards and found your video and how you mentioned that midi keyboards tend to not work well with FL Studio and now my choice is clear
Perfect news! Thanks Novation! I always ask myself where i can get a Midi Key to match with FL STUDIO, but now, i see one. Amazing video. 🎆
That step sequencer feature REALLY caught me off guard. I can just imagine how nice that would be to have in my own studio.
It totally caught me off guard too. I knew little about the device until it arrived (the way I like it) and that was a real selling point for me. I'm still having fun with it right now!
Thank you for this I am a fan of "In The Mix" you've helped me in the years I've been producing!!!!
Damn, I've been waiting for something like this for so long.
Very good review, thank you for that. I'm 100% going to be buying this controller (FLKey 37). I've been waiting for something like this.
Recently I agreed to remake a friend's older project. He sent me the stems and instantly noticed the vocals had been compressed to all hell.. I'm not joking the whole waveform looked like this..
IIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
..And his original recordings where lost somewhere outside of time itself. Anyhow, using what you've taught me over various videos I had alot of fun sculpting transients back into the wave. I only used stock plugins (Limiter and Maximus) and basic maths, as i was working on it I thought that could be a great tutorial video you could make in the future.. Take it easy :)
long overdue. i had NI komplete kontrol s49 and loved it. but i think FLstudio specific ones would be a very nice companion
Just ordered my mini 😊 cant wait ❤
I'll actually choose the mini. This is very beautiful.
I've been waiting long for this, let's go !
DAMN!!! I just bought the Akai Fire a few weeks ago and now this comes out. Always happens to me..... Go on Novation... take my money!
Yes! Just got the Mini to complement the Akai FL Fire. Can't wait!
And how does it work ?
Both controllers together?
Your video literally came in time, i love your channel, thank you!
Thank you for this Video! All your Videos are straight to the point. You can be understood well even if you don't speak English very well. You are the best..❤
My Christmas gift is FL Key mini. I like that keyboard
Always, the best, straight to the point videos
I’m focussing on producing EDM. It started 6 months ago, I invested a lot of time in FL Studio. Bought all plugins edition on black friday.
Everything I did on a Macbook (2015).
Got myself an Akai MIDI controller and a small mixer. I programmed it so it would work with FL Studio. But it felt like it wasn’t meant to be used with FL Studio. So now after watching this video, I have high hopes for the MIDI controllers that are linked to FL Studio. Might order the FLkey Mini for the good.
My Guitar Center has this in stock today, as soon as I get off I am getting this.
now that you've said it, imma buy it! Thanks for making great videos, really helpful as always
true that
Great review man. Thanks!!
Been looking for a high quality midi keyboard, great to have such a good first look at it!
finally people are taking flstudio more serious as this was a long time coming. flstudio is so popular and i have been using it since flstudio 4 back in 2005 and always needed a dedicated keyboard.
Hey, new producer here, I plan to produce for the rest of my life so I want something reliable for a beginning at least. What’s the least amount of keys that’s not limiting? Any beginner tips/things you wish you knew before getting a midi keyboard? Anything helps, If not that’s alright.
omg those spitfire strings are amazing
