Solar panel cleaning is not worth it. Rain generally takes care of it and the cost of doing the cleaning takes away any and all efficiency gains you would get from said cleaning. The ROI on this service is simply not there. At $150 a visit and $0.15/kWh you'd need to generate an ADDITIONAL 1,000 kWh just to break even. If we assume that soiling takes 10% of your production you'd need to generate 10,000 kWh to get that extra 1,000 kWh of production to offset the cost of the cleaning. Even if you have a fairly large system generating 2,000 kWh a month, it'd be 10 months before you'd recoup the $150 investment assuming even soiling of the panels throughout the time and have 90% efficiency by the end of the 10 month period.
Good point, but in certain regions of the country, especially areas that are prone to high pollen counts, homeowners will want to clean their panels prior to summertime, where they will be seeing the highest production period in the year from their system. In some instances, you can get this service done for under $100, but as I mentioned in the video, you would likely have to sign up for bi-annual subscription to get this service
I like your content man!
