OH MY GOSH JOHN I CAN HARDLY KEEP UP WITH YOU-- SO MANY PRODUCT REVIEWS AND DEMO'S YOU ARE "THE MAN" I WILL CONTINUE TO WATCH ALL OF YOUR VIDEO'S I AM LEARNING JUST SO MANY WONDERFUL THINGS FROM YOU. THANK YOU FOR DOING THE WORK SO WE YOUR FOLLOWERS DON'T HAVE TO-- :-)
John, thanks for this informative video. I definitely won’t be turning on my stove much now. I just love my 6 quart Duo Evo Plus! I’m already using it almost daily. Thanks for sharing.❤️
Just got the duo crisp. The manual, on page 36 I think, has a note that you don't need the pressure lid for steam. But a later chart shows the pressure lid for both pressure and steam. I tried it with no lid at all though and it happily began the steam function. I turned if off after a moment as I was not wanting to actually do it at the moment. But if it needed the lid I think it would have thrown a lid error rather than going to 'ON' as it did. So - my point is - the Duo Crisp is also capable of steaming without coming to pressure or having any particular lid in place I think.
The manual on instant pots website had different instructions than the manual that came with mine...I think that one might be the correct instructions...thanks for watching!
Thanks to all your terrific videos I finally broke down and ordered my IP Duo Crisp. If UPS is on time it will be here tomorrow and I'll put it through its paces. Exciting!
No.. purchased all of these products with my money and I am not affiliated in any way...i have copied my response to the question you left on another video... here is that explanation... "No...i purchased all out of my pocket and I am not affiliated with any of them in any way...i also do not have links or a Amazon store... all my reviews are my honest opinion and I do not accept payment or commissions in any way at this time...i may do that sometime in the future but as of and up to now I do not... thanks for watching!!"
Just picked a lightly used one for $50 and looking forward to cooking Thanksgiving dinner in it. Certainly a big upgrade over my old non branded machine.
another good video, love your dog... I have 2 boxers, just awesome dogs.... he looks like a big old guy lol love how he just wanders in and out on some videos hahahahaha
He and his stepbrother are usually somewhere really close...sometimes under my feet...lol..they're both about 12 years old...we got them both on the same day and they've been like brothers ever since...thanks for watching!
I have an iPad and could use a stand like the one you’ve got. It looks like it holds tight. Where did you get it? Would love a link to buy one please. Great videos! Don’t worry about people who criticize by saying you talk too much, I love listening to you. People can be so critical, but please know that we appreciate all that you do and share!
I think your test of Sous Vide will show the temps to run lower than what they say. It is on mine. This is my favorite Instant Pot. I have a Foodi Deluxe and between them and a Ninja Bravo XL oven and three Ninja induction burners, I have the best of everything for cooking
Where did you get that steamer basket? I'm in Korea and just bought a Duo Evo Plus the other day and am excited to try the steam and sous-vide functions. The LCD is all in korean so I have to translate it with my phone in order to use it...this video helps a lot.
Glad to hear I helped!! I think I got it at Kohls but they are easy to find on places like Amazon or just Google instant pot steamer basket...thanks and thank you for watching!!!
John, here’s an idea-saute your steak or meat in the induction friendly pot on your induction plate cause it has higher heat than in the IP, then lift pot back in IP to finish pressure cooking.
Not a bad idea...I'm not sure all induction devices have enough power or as much as the instant pot but that would work if so...thanks and thanks for watching!
IM WAITING FOR MINE,WILL BE HERE ON MONDAY ,DID YOU KNOW THAT VENT BUTTON AUTOMATICALLY RESETS TO SEAL AS SOON AS YOU OPEN THE LID,MY OLDER INSTANT POT DOES THIS TOO,YOU DONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT FORGETTING TO SEAL,WELL MY INSTANT POT SEALS ON ITS OWN WHEN YOU SHUT IT,CANT WAIT TO DO BROCCOLI THANK YOU
Hello John, will you please compare this instant pot using the sous vide setting as soon as possible. That is the feature I am very interested in. Thank you.
I was very disappointed in that the Duo Crisp model does not have a yogurt setting, why would they not incorporate that in a flagship model? If it had handles and a flat bottom, that would also add to it. Great videos as always!
Hi! So I just got my Evo delivered yesterday. Did the water test and then started making a roast. It comes to pressure and seals and no steam is coming out of any place on the IP, but it is constantly hissing. I even changed the seal ring to the red one and everything. Does yours do this? I’m returning today to Best Buy and getting a new one. But I was just wondering.
Yeah the pin comes up and seals and cooks normally, but it’s constantly hissing. My Nova model doesn’t hiss. And I noticed the water reservoir filled up fast. Also never happens on my Nova.
I think it is there newest high end model of not for the duo crisp which definitely is a more useful device if you ask me... but I do not own an ultra so I really can't say about the differences...thanks for watching!
@@JohnSanders Thanks ...which is more useful ? Evo Plus or Duo Crisp ? Also I dont understand why the Duo Crisp doesn't have yogurt function while the Foodi Deluxe does ! Big mistake on Instant's end. Also I just dont understand the Presets ! With only a single top down element what is the difference between Air Fry, Bake, Broil & Roast? Why not just have single button & then select your time & temp for your recipe ? More useful presets would be like : Chicken, Fish, Steak, Fries, Shrimp, Cake, Cookies, Pizza etc
Vegieees 😍😍😍 another great video! Thank you! I have heard pressure cooking retains nutrients better than steaming. But as you said pressure cooking only offers 0 and not below that number for vegetables. Have you experienced while presssure cooking for 0 minute a vegetable and feel the vegetable was too soft/overheated? If not I think using the pressure button instead of the steam is better in terms of keep locking the nutrients in. I believe eating shouldn't solely be about taste but about having as much good nutrients as possible so that we stay healthy and live a long life. I would love to hear your thoughts on that :)
Am interested in the sous vide. I have ideas of not putting the food in a bag since the water is just in the pot anyway. Perhaps a silicone trivet of some kind and a few chicken breasts done sous vide would be interesting.
@@JohnSanders Well, I suppose it would be poaching of a type. Though typically poaching is not done at the desired food temp over a period of time. A very key difference of course. I certainly wouldn't sous vide chicken at boiling temps as I don't like overcooked chicken. I like to sous vide chicken breast to have on hand for salads or sandwiches or whatever. I'd happily trade messing with putting it in a bag and getting the air out if the Instant Pot could do a decent enough job of cooking off several pieces at my desired time/temp.
In your opinion, what is the best instant pot, that will cover the majority of things that we use in the household, I know that’s a hard question I just asked, but it will be no right or wrong answer, I promise you because I’m asking for your opinion, so therefore you shouldn’t be criticized for your answer, and I’m not saying One is better than the other, I was just wondering which instant pot has more functions so I won’t be buying 4 Instant pot, My son for Christmas for me the dual Crisps instant pot, But in your opinion which one covers more multi functions ? It’s hard to decide, which one, I was going back-and-forth back-and-forth, trying to decide which one that I really want it, Now I’m wondering, not saying this is not a good pot , because it is with One is multi function, I know I just asked a hard question for you to answer, and if you can’t, it’s all good, I know it depends The individual needs. 🤷🏾♀️ # jellyoo7
I believe the duo crisp is the best all around instant pot...because it does air frying and pressure cooking and that is the most used kitchen gadgets put together in to one unit...hope this helps and thanks for watching!
John Sanders , yesssssssssss it’s help. I made the right decision then! I respect your opinion on these gadgets, Even though I know the final opinion is always ours, Because we are adults, and we cannot criticize no one else opinion, when we do the asking, it’s not fair to you. Enjoying the reviews, however, I do not have the room nor can I afford every new device on the market. Finally bought the Ninja Foodi. Hopefully won’t get into it and wish I had waited.
You will love the Ninja Foodi...it is a wonderful device that literally changed the way I cook and pretty much eliminated my need for an oven...I donate many of my older kitchen gadgets to the churches yard sale and try to keep the ones I love and use most...I will always have at least one foodi...even if I keep other devices that do the same thing...it is a well designed device that performs extremely well...thanks for watching!
My mom used to steam veggies on the stovetop. She had to leave the lid tilted or some things changed color. And she had to judge the burner ever so carefully because you could have the steam too hot. I never wanted to bother with that. On my Ninja Foodi there is literally none of that. Hit the default steam setting and the heat is just right with no adjustments. I twist the lid on just like you say with the pressure valve open, and away she goes. Just don’t forget to go eat it in 10 minutes when it’s done.
