@@12DAMDO Probably because of the difference in audience. A good 70% of TADC viewers are children, SJWs, or a combination of both. There's definetly a little bit of both in the JoJo fandom too, but only 30% at the absolute most. Essentially, it makes sense that most of the TADC fandom would get offended, while most of the JoJo fandom doesn't give a shit because they acknowledge that a fictional character can be evil.
Jax is literally acting the same from the first episode, he's not acting different or more cruel. And honestly the reason this show is so interesting is the way these characters cope with being trapped in this world

Jax basically spent the whole pilot being a jerk to his "friends." Why are people surprised that he still acts like a jerk to his friends, and acts like an average GTA player to people he knows are NPCs?

I don't handle funerals well.
I seem insensitive but I just don't feel sad at a funeral. I love seeing the people around me even though I lost someone but why be sad, be happy that we knew this person. We might cry but smile about the time we spent together, I can mourn later and accept they're gone later.

Another thing nobody's talking about is that we've only known Jax for _TWO EPISODES._ We're likely nowhere close to understanding his entire character yet, we haven't had enough time with him to see his good side (if any) yet. We know just as much about him right now as Pomni does.

All of these characters (minus Pomni who is new) display traits of people who have CPTSD. Kinger has memory issues, Zooble is retreating and isolating, Jax is being a narcissist to defend his vulnerability, Gangle has depression/fawn response, and Ragatha is a people-pleaser/caregiver.
Ragatha seems like that, while also a partial toxic optimist.

Jax is literally doing villain runs in a video game like a lot of us have. Jax is absolutely a prick, but, considering none of the main characters can die apart from abstraction and everyone else is an NPC, whats the difference between Jax letting a fudge monster in the castle to eat everyone and nuking megaton in Fallout 3? Jax is very obviously being set up as a character who copes with his situation by not taking anything seriously; in a world where nothing matters, you're going to have people like Ragatha who still hold strong to their moral fiber and people like Jax who say fuck it.
Jax certainly does get more extreme with the NPCs. Notably, he talks about having a big, epic battle with them too instead of what he ended up going with. Sounds to me that he's fine with being the hero, so long as it means lots of action and chaos. He's basically the 'well, what's more fun for me?' route.
When it's not NPCs, however, he does seem a bit more willing to show sympathy (I SAW YOUR FLINCH, JAX, YOU MISSED KAUFMO, WE ALL KNOW IT)
I like to think i would act similarly to jax, where i would most likely just go, "Fuck it", and go completely psycho mode, which is basically how most people treat expendable NPCs

The decline in media literacy is one of the biggest tragedies in modern entertainment. No one can handle characters and themes that aren’t surface level. Really hope this doesn’t set a precedent for less deep stories and plots with less nuance.
So, every "human" character in the show has a different coping mechanism to deal with their current situation
...but people loves to see everything in black and white and to be right, and people in twitter just love the self assessment, the angry mob / witch hunt mentality, and doubling down when proved wrong because mob mentality

Look, I get it. We originally got a pilot episode and there is never a guarantee that a pilot is guaranteed for a full series. So people tried analyzing his character within the context of one episode. People make theories, headcanons, etc. But the moment they announced that they would be making a full series, I feel like those people should have known that their analysis and predictions have a chance to be incorrect.
I feel like Jax fans just had this whole idea of Jax in their head since the pilot and now that episode two is out people are mad because their poor head-cannons and theories were proven wrong.
I absolutely love theorizing but I always keep in mind that most if not all my theories will be wrong. But I don’t care I just shrug it off. It was just fun to theorize stuff. That’s all that matters to me.

I wouldn't call shippers monsters. They're more like a cancer. Gradually spreading throughout a show's fan base until they eventually hit a critical mass where the creators start pandering to them and neglecting everything else. Then the show dies because the shippers don't actually care about the show, they just care about how much in can reinforce their headcanon version of it.

tbh, cancelling a show over a character is kinda like cancelling a show for being a show.
only 2 episodes and yet the drama is endless truly creators just have not care about drama on the internet and just not pay attention when people call for the Wahmbulance.
I don't like Jax as a person, but he is a great character. These things are not one and the same.
This is something a lot of people need to understand because yeah I like him as a character too but obviously I’d hate him as a person if he was real.
Another example I could use for this is Big Jack Horner from Puss in Boots. He is a completely vile human being and if I knew him in real life I would want him in prison for life. As a character though we all adore him.
I think this is a great chance for people to learn not to push their head canons onto characters, especially when it's a character they've seen once. For some reason, most people think Jax is just acting out for whatever reason and he's not just a huge jerk

Sarcastic Chorus had a really good analogy on Jax in the 2nd episode, Jax is essentially a guy playing gta, he likes to cause chaos and has fun doing it because he’s fully aware there is no real consequence to what he does

The title almost made me scream 😅
all the characters are literal representations of what happens when humans are forced into aa un-winnable, unescapable, and eternal type of situation.
Pomni is new and therefore is the scared, fearful, and rejecting reality.
Ragatha is the one who's been there awhile and has mostly accepted the problem but is still in the reality escapism.
Kinger is the one who has been there so long that he's gone past acceptance and went full nutty.
Jax is just the person who is still in the phase between Pomni and Ragatha, the angry and trying to take it out on something or someone, while trying to hide the fear that is still creeping in with pranks and "mean" jokes.
they are all just people at different times of having their mind breakdown.

Also Nux: Jax cares about his friends
They were so blinded by their fanfiction that they forgot it's not real
Not gonna lie, 30 seconds in I'm pondering if I should even watch the reaction, as Twitter cancelling anything has become so devoid of meaning that this would basically just be me seeing spiteful wannabes complain about popular shit for the sole reason of them being envious, entitled and meaningless, to the point that they think people care enough to actually listen to them...
But then I thought of two things.
One, isn't it fun to imagine these NPC's get mad at a character portrayal from an episode that literally talked about how meaningless and devoid of importance NPC's are and even funnier how the NPC's in the show feel much more real than the NPC's in the real world.

11:15 yes... or another possible route, he's just tired of caring, because he has lost others he has cared about, and it's torn him apart, why get close to people that are just going to leave you anyways, mentality. To which opens him up a crack, allowing the rest of the cast to reach in for him, to make him feel again.

I think the reason this keeps happening is because there's so much time in between the pilots and the actual shows and since people weren't getting much content at the time, they made these headcanons to hold them over and when they finally see more and it doesn't align with what they made up, they get pissed.
I liked Jax, and still do. His character is consistent with both episodes. He is mean but he is comedic with it. He is "evil" to the NPC characters, but if you pay attention, he does care for the people trapped with him. He just hides how he cares. This is shown how he saved his friends from the abstraction monster. And during the funeral how he feels just before he hides it.
