Mashed But,.. doesn't McDs already give the person a receipt, when would we ask for it when they give the customer the receipt right after placing the order
While asking for a receipt might get you better food/service, I find more often I have to check the bag before I drive away to make sure what I ordered is actually in the bag. After a couple of times of getting home and finding items missing I always check the bag now.
Aleatha Vogel - something I tell my husband and kids to do before pulling away from the window cuz 9x out of 10 something won't be in the bag And while on the subject of annoyances... how about when someone is told to pull fwd and wait for someone to bring your food out ... the driver pulls just enough to be out of the way of the window BUT hard for the person to go around them.
The only time a store usually asks you if you want a receipt or not is if you’ve made a small purchase. Like you ordered one thing, like a small fry or something. Other than that, they will always give you a receipt.
Antone Duran I work at a McDonald's and we have a system where the "guest order number" is on the receipt. First a transaction record prints out after they pay, then their receipt with their number. When the foods ready we just call the number. Everyone always gets a receipt.
I happen to be an "average" employee for McDonald's, and yes we DO care about secret shoppers. If we get too many bad ratings, this forces our franchise owner to alert the area super or patch supervisor, and they come in after to see if anything needs to be "fixed" -- from seeing that procedures are being followed, to repairing equipment if it's broken, or right up to firing employees because they're not doing their job. Its always imperative that we keep our eyes out for mystery shoppers, because in this day and age -- especially where some of us depend on these jobs to keep our families and ourselves from being homeless or worse -- we cannot afford to screw things up.
Steph Bond the McDonald’s I worked at gave no care about secret shoppers. Until we got enough bad ratings and we all to do a training session and the franchise owner had to renovate the restaurant. After all this we started caring about secret shoppers.
I used to work with a McDonald's Drive-Thru employee who said she'd always add something to at least one person's meal bill - she'd charge THEM for a McChicken and that was her dinner every night. If they asked for the receipt then it was "Our printer is Out of Order" There are far bigger reasons to check receipts
+Fail Vault I assume it's because transactions aren't processed the same day with most banks + most people don't check their bank statements after every purchase. I actually overdrew once at Taco Bell because the transaction went through a WEEK later and I thought it had already gone through so I spent what I had in the bank already (even had to pay overdraft charges)
Agreed. I worked at McDonald's way back in my teens. At that time there was only one receipt printer behind the counter, not one for every register, it was at the opposite end from the 1-2 registers we primarily used, and it was a dot matrix that took 10 seconds to print the receipt. Needless to say, we only printed a receipt upon request. I could see this kind of thing holding true then - though I never heard anything about this in my time there. There were a couple times the MOD had her suspicions someone might have been, but I don't remember it having anything to do with they did or didn't ask for a receipt.
Gonna depend on the chain, but also the location. I'll be honest, at Wendys I avoided giving the receipt. It wasn't meant maliciously, but I wanted to keep track of the orders. I give ya the receipt and I have only the sandwich station screen as a record, one which they removed after they finished their part. Sometimes I'd print two receipts during busy times at lunch so if the customer wanted it, they could take it before getting their food without fucking me up.
Yeah same. I started doing that towards the end and then I started getting sick every time I went to a mcds so I stopped going there all together. Shame I enjoyed it as a kid. 😦
I work at McDonalds and we always give people a receipt anyway because they need it for the number to collect their order lmao - and we’ve never been told anything about this mystery shopper shit, front counter doesn’t go to kitchen like “guys, i think we have a mystery shopper - make sure its EXTRA fresh” lmao, especially when it’s busy we wouldn’t have the time to do that.
I guarantee you, you dont work for mcdonalds. they were referring to fries and yes " front counter " which is not what we are even called, does do fries.
I worked at mcdonalds for over a year and in england it is a thing, you would get one maybe once a month and they always asked for reciepts and you woukd have to tell the manager if you thought it was a mystery shopper. It happened quite alot and we would have to ensure that we gave them burgers that just came of the grill and fresh fries. But also they woukd only ever order a medium meal. :)
That's because the food is bleached and has lots of nasty chemicals no keep it "fresh". Go look up a YT video where a guy puts a McD burger in a glass jar and see how many days, I mean weeks, sorry I mean months it lasts.
I once worked with the guy at McDonald’s who worked in the drive-through, and he would always add a dollar onto whatever total he gave the customer. He would make anywhere from $25-$50 extra each shift and if the customer noticed he would just play it off like he made a mistake then give back the correct change. THAT’S why you should always ask for a receipt.
KRabe 33 it used to be, they got rid of gaps in replacement for food for thoughts, however they forgot to mention gaps have a very specific order, only one meal and I’m pretty sure it was no promo items such as big tasty etc
when i worked there i could care less about a receipt. mcdonalds would be severely understaffed when i worked there. just me doing lobby and drive thru that shit sucked so i would make lots of fries haha.
I work at McDonald's, and i can safely say this is nonsense. Ignoring the fact that we always give out the receipt unless its a drive thru order, we don't give special treatment to anyone whether they ask for it or not.
+Kevin Cozens The cashier and food presenter are in different windows. often people will refuse the receipt after paying and just drive to the next window.
no, I think they mean you ASK for it AS you order, like right after you finish your order...or else why would they ever think twice, RIGHT after you even get the meal???
@Enigmatic Destroyer actually makes a fair point - as MaccyD's has embraced new tech and more stores now have the pre-pay touch screens, YOU ALWAYS HAVE A RECEIPT REGARDLESS! Its how they track your order! So this information - While useful - will only work in older MaccyD's with a standard store front - If it has the Card Payment, Pre-Pay Touch Screen shit - Forget it! You will still get treated like dirt. HOWEVER! Nandos, KFC, BK, and many others are still embracing a more personal service - so there it will work...
embrj145 Well yes, you obtuse donk, that’s obviously the best idea. But I’m sure that this tactic will also work at many other places. Some of which actually are worth eating at from time to time.
bonniedog fuck me i live on the sourh coast and its only £5 for large fries, large coke and a big mac, cheaper if you got a coupon which get handed out to literally everyone
Simboiss in the McDonald’s in my area of England, whenever we order a Big Mac 5/10 times you get the burger the other half you don’t get what you want and they don’t really expect you coming back to get one Big Mac so it is quite annoying.
I knew a guy who was an assistant manager at a fast food restaurant. He said that if someone didn’t ask for a receipt and paid cash at a drive through window the person at the register would often type in a pro code and pocket the money. He said their were not any cameras and they didn’t take inventory. I would think that has changed since then.
I used to work for McDonald's for 3 years.....and I've hardly seen any secret shoppers and we generally gave EVERY customer a receipt!!!! No offense but most of my co-workers and managers were kinda dumb and the buttload of stupid and homeless and mean customers meant that the overall experience and service and everything was DUMB. EDIT: *glares at like count* of course I know you normally cannot find a secret shopper, but I would VERY rarely overhear managers talking about a secret shopper report that was VERY dissatisfied. ALSO. you know the survey link on the receipt??? in the break-room in the back, there would be a printout of the survey comments, mostly complaining about how inaccurate their order was, or how long it took to get their food, and a lot about the bad attitudes of the employees. it also said that our overall accuracy was around 40%. if you did a really bad job more than likely the customer would remember your name and mention it in the comments.......and I've NEVER had my name mentioned.....
the mcdonalds where i worked was crazy good, best teammates, newest equipments possible and during the time i even got extra cash for serving mystery shoppers properly
I work at McDonald’s: this is such bullshit. We have to give everyone a receipt so they can’t ask for stuff they didn’t pay for at the pick up window. The only way you’ll get any kind of special treatment is if you’re the owner of that store or you work there
This might be a country thing, but McD receipts do NOT have order numbers in Canada or USA. We get 3 separate papers. An order, a receipt, and a proof of payment.
There is another reason to ask for a receipt, and not just at McDonald's. Sometimes (or all the time, based on the fast food chain) the bottom of the receipt has what they call a "bounce back" coupon. Fill out a short online survey and you get a code number to write in the blank at the bottom of the receipt. Such coupons can be for free food items with no purchase necessary, with purchase necessary, buy-one-get-one free, etc.
Dolan Duck The employee was right to an extent. But GAPBusters only ordered certain meals and they were massively obvious. But we've dropped GAPs now and we're using a different technique to get feedback 👌
You'll get hot fries and fresh food?? Did she really say that?? Fuck!! And silly me expected hot fries and fresh food every time I go there and pay for food
There are customers who yell at me for not handing out a certain item they didn’t even pay for. When I ask them for the receipt, they either don’t have them or they won’t admit to their mistake. I mean, I have a screen that displays your order and there are no fries listed with your food, Nancy!
Hans Solo the majority of my coworkers are at the age of 24-30. Most are college students. It really depends on the branch. The majority of the people here are really nice and understanding. Some not so much, since there are people who are uneducated. Just because we work in Mcdonald’s doesn’t mean we’re not “smart”, that’s really rude. Miscommunication can happen. Once there’s an issue with a customer’s order, we fix it immediately (or we give a refund). Just don’t be rude to the employees.
I hate to break it to you ... But I don't think they "Just happened to forget that they did not actually order fries." I think they're just trying to get some free fries.
I guess I've just been around blacks long enough to know how the hustle is done ... Always assume the worst with ppl like that and you'll be right 90% of the time which is pretty damn good
100% true as a former McDonald’s employee but I always got an amazing report and always give an receipt to everyone. I trained 10 successful workers after working there 10 months
-proudly struts into McDonald's garbed in my finest top hat, suit and cane.- "mmmMMMYES, I do require your FINEST burger and fries my good sir. You see I'm a FANCY MAN and I insist upon the highest quality in dining experiences, which is why I have chosen this fast food establishment's cuisine. OH and I DO require a receipt." -snickers and twists my mustache-
SS are always middle age to early 60 year old short white women that are thin. So when you see a fat woman come in with 10 kids without shoes, those are EBTr's.
Eastern Hemisphere funny. We were on ebt for 7 months after I had to have emergency open heart surgery at 23, 3 months post partum with my second baby while my husband had s job previously that paid 5k a month that he had to quit to take care of me and the kids while I was recovering. I did develop Cushing disease from the prednisone afterwards and the chemo I'm on let me tell you is a blast. All this for a couple hundred in food to help us in hard times. Best plan ever -.- a large majority of people on ebt don't want to be, but assumptions are awesome dude. Hopefully you never go through what we have. Takayasu arteritis is my disease we didn't know about, until it almost took my life. Feel free to research it and open your mind and heart a bit
Karate Lebron especially now that a receipt is required for your order number so you can pick it up. Unless there's still MD's where you have to wait around the till still?!
Must be some kind of click bait going on because the receipt is always provided at chains like these. Corporate don't want customers having to beg for a receipt as if this was some kind of mom & pop store that relies on the fraction of a cent saved on paper.
I can't help but feel like none of this matters at all. Like no secret shopper is going to go and make sure to ask for a receipt even though they're going to be given one anyways. Besides if anything, if they wanted to do their job thoroughly the secret shoppers should not want the workers to know that they are a secret shopper so if what the video is trying to say is correct, secret shoppers would be the only ones NOT asking for receipts
I've been a mystery shopper for Maritz, Inc, and they're right, those are the peak hours they want us to do shops in, and we do have to provide receipts if we want reimbursement.
Reminds me of this time at work a few years back when one of my older coworkers started having bad chest pains and we had to call for an ambulance. While the EMTs were checking him out, they asked him what he had to eat that day and he told them he'd had a cheeseburger out of the AVI vending machine we have there. They paused, looked at each other, and said "Yeah, that'll do it." He ended up being alright but I still tease him about that to this day lol
Last time I ordered two filet-o-fish sandwiches, ones bun was stuck at the lid and the other ones bun was so hard I thought it was toasted but I kinda liked it lol. I don‘t expect quality from mcdonalds anyways.
Lol what? I was literally just agreeing with this dude's comment ... even ended with a crying from laughter emoji .... Did you maybe think I was being angry or something?
i worked at mcdonalds for a year and whether or not you asked for a receipt you’ll get treated the same. how it works is, you don’t want your receipt? we throw it away. you want your receipt? we give it to you. we don’t go through the whole store yelling, “HEY THIS PERSON WANTS THE RECEIPT GIVE THEM EVERYTHING FRESH!” we just give you it and have you go on with your day this isn’t equivalent to treating you like royalty 😐
DeadTigerrr point is is..NOBODY SHOULD BE ASKING FOR ONE..AND YOU SHOULDN'T ASK CUSTOMER..IF..THEY HAND U MONEY..U HAND RECEIPT. THE END. IF THEY DONT WANT IT..THEY DISCARD IT W THIER TRASH.THE FUCKING END.
Chris Brown we ask because it takes a good second to print it and some people want one and some don’t so it’s best to ask and not assume what they want. i understand where you’re coming but company policy doesn’t change on how one person feels.
I worked at Wendy's in High school and this is absolutely true. Yes everybody gets a receipt, WE GET IT. No need to beat a dead horse people. It's when you haven't even left the big speaker and you ask for a receipt, it alarms us. Or when you get to window to pay and then stare at the receipt before pulling up to next window and you're in business attire and we can see a clipboard in passenger seat, we get alarmed. Most of the time we know what the inspector looks like and what they drive. The front register person alerts the back crew when they see them pull around. That inspector had the freshest fries that sat upright in the bag, best made burger and ice to soda ratio was on point. This is all true. May not work everywhere, most places know who the inspector is and sound like.
That's dumb. Secret shoppers are hired to check on a business anyway. Who the fuck orders and meal and immediately asks for a receipt, lmao. That's some shitty ass secret shopper training.
I/my mom has and will always ask for the receipt not to rate the fast food chain but to make sure they got the order correct because they occasionally got the order wrong by missing something, putting things in when we specifically asked not to, or giving the wrong order. However, I do love getting McDonalds but I frequently tried stopping the habit of it as it can seriously affect my health.
If you want fresh fries ask for them without salt fresh burgers ask for them exclude 1 item on the burger they will have to make it fresh i get fresh food all the time Edit and if you ask for fries with no salt as they will still have fries they will cook the ones you ask for properley instead of rushing them out floppy floppy fries suck or half cooked P.S. Ask for no ice as the drinks despensors are made to keep them chilled more juice for your money less ice watering down the flavour
not always...but also, never piss anyone off... **or less you get your burger or food spat in...or worse** had a friend who had that happen... was...fucking nasty... XD!
Nintendo PlayStation the key words at our McDonald's was "just up". If you asked for something "just up" we could make it fresh, if you asked for "fresh" food the store manager would say "all of our food is fresh" and you would get it the normal way.
Hi I’ve worked in both fast food and restaurant business, and I can say don’t just ask for a receipt. Ask for an /itemized/ receipt. I didn’t have a problem with that when working fast food but the first restaurant I worked for would slip in appetizers or small plates on people’s bills in case some of the servers didn’t reach a quota. I caught this when talking to my manager one day, and a server was complaining about someone’s bill not being high enough and asked her “can you put a small dish on there that’s what the other manager does.”
If you're the type of person who believes they deserve 5 star treatment from a minimum-wage earner for a 29 cent cheeseburger, you might just be a McDouchebag.
We've had the 1$ basic cheeseburger (Meat, cheese, bun, ketchup, mustard, onions, and pickles) for a while. Actually, at our location they just removed the 2 cheeseburger meal.
At my location, we use kiosks so every costumer gets a receipt anyways, and the way we tell if we have a “mystery shopper,” is if we spot someone come into the lobby and then go through the drive thru, or vice versa. They check both for times and quality, so they always go to both.
Wouldn’t it be funny if you asked for a receipt before ordering and the McDonald’s employee says “are you asking for a receipt because you watch that Mashed video on UA-cam?” 😂😂
I'm currently an employee at McDonald's and have been working there for 2 years, Over the past year we have replaced the "gap" as we called it for a different procedure.
After managing fast food for over 20 years, this video isn't really true. Because of the restaurant culture, you do a good job or you don't. Most of the mistakes are not done during peak hour. That's when you have the most people on. A lot of mistakes happen during transition periods. (changing of shift) If you go to a place and there are bad employees, blame the manager, not the kids.
tixximmi1 ummmmm no. If the kid puts pickles and onions in my burgers and it says no pickles or no dehydrated onions. Why would I get mad at the manager? Not the managers fault that store owner or store super visor hired an idiot. People like you fuck up the enviorment of honesty. Yes, the manager is supposed to take the blame but im a realist. It workers too not just the managers. Fuck those kids!!!
I didn't do anything to the environment. Look the manager is responsible for hiring, training, follow up and ongoing coaching. There will always be mistakes made when 2000 people can have their burger 10000 ways. A good manager will try to mitigate potential mistakes. This video was about your store being shopped during a peak time period. All I said was employees aren't told to be extra careful because a shop may or may not happen at this time. Also the manager doesn't have to take the blame. However, that manager will be responsible for a smooth running shift. Remember a mistake in any business usually boils down to two points. The employee doesn't care or doesn't know something. Either way, it's the managers responsibility.
Technicity huh? There are some store managers that make 80 to 100k a year. What the fuck are you talking about homie? Ever went to HU for the 5 years you there?
Turquoise Cheetah no. So that means you like your food fucked up? Constantly? Well at least I'm not stupid or ditsy. Mostly kids work in McDonalds. Especially in the summer. Anywho, there is nothing with being mad at someone for messing up your food everytime you go there. I guess you're the one that doesn't care peoples work ethic because you do pretty shitty in your profession.
jhanks2012 you should have stayed in school so you don't HAVE to work at a fast food restaurant And yes let's raise the minimum so we can go ahead and get those kiosks they have in Japan so I can do my own order so I get the food that I want the first time.
Asking for a receipt is "pressure"? Lmao all they have to do is hand it to you. Plus, with the amount of times they've gotten my order wrong at McD's you best believe I'm getting that receipt EVERY TIME
Hmmm... How would they know you were a secret shopper when u don't get your receipt until AFTER you have placed you're order? Also, I always ask for receipt and have never gotten special treatment.
jacksprat418 Has nothing to do with race. If the piece of shit behind the counter has nothing but attitude, I’ll go elsewhere. Making sure the public deals with quality ppl doesn’t seem to be a corporate priority. Not just one McDonald’s. Or two or ten. The majority of ALL McDonald’s in my experience is similar. Not even a “thank you” from the losers that just took my money. Fuck them and u lol. If I don’t want to eat there because they hire shitty humans, that’s my prerogative.
Mystery shoppers for McDonald's have to evaluate the bathroom before they place their order inside the store. They also make a purchase through the Drive-Thru before coming inside to place another order. These are, by far, more telling than if someone simply asks for a receipt. Also most regular employees are only doing one very specific job during rushes (taking orders or making fries for example) and don't really care or even think about mystery shoppers, especially during rushes. It's really only the managers that MAY care if you are a mystery shopper.
Asking for a receipt indicates to the employee that it may be a mystery shopper as the customer ordering the food would take the receipt back to their employer to be reimbursed, when dealing with a gap order the food has to be fresh and prepared “perfectly” so they get the best review possible
It's been my experience that they leave the receipt in the tray or bag. Why would "a secret shopper" ask for it? They would be giving themselves away. Mcdonald's makes so much money every second that they couldn't give a crap about quality food or service. All they care about is consistency and efficiency (and ROI). From Google: "McDonald's feeds 68 million people per day, that's about 1 percent of the world's population."
I can imagine that McDonalds is horrid enough to work for as it is, so now you're going to have a bunch of people 'believing they're royalty' requesting for a receipt.
i think this is pretty well known but for anyone who doesnt know: ask for no salt on your fries and they will be forced to make you fresh ones, then u can salt them yourself
dnadan77 I've seen someone ask for fries no salt, then salt packets in the bag through drivethru. It pissed me off, seriously most of us have no problem making fresh fries if you want them fresh, if their not fresh take 'em back & return them. During our busiest hours, fries are usually fresh anyway (Lunch & Supper) Asking for salt packets just annoy us & we're probably gonna end up talking shit about you in the break room
😂 haha, that’s what you think, what they used to do is take the old fries and put them in the frier for 5 seconds so they lose the salt and make you think they’re fresh, (now with double the oil and grease) when you think costumers know tricks well, the workers know even more 🤷🏼♂️ smartypants
Us customers, shouldn't have to ask for a receipt just to make sure the quality of it is perfect. They should be doing that regardless. It's their job. We shouldn't have to ask for "can you make sure those fries are hot, please?" They should be nice and fresh everytime.
escuzeme fries will not be hot and fresh every time for each customer because it take 3 min to fry them, doing that for each customer would just make them even more mad
It's fast food, man. I can tell you firsthand that we don't groan or anything when you ask for fresh food, so if you want it then just ask for it. You'll have to wait longer, obviously, but if you want your stuff cooked to order that's to be expected.
i worked fast food at a few places, only the people that got hit by the SS was told of it, i got an 90 score instead of 100 cuz i didnt have my name tag showing, fuck im doing drive thru, i take money hand you food, i would take the money turn my back on them, hand them food and walk away, leave MOFOs
Dangerous RC productions one woman came into our store one time took one look at my boyfriend who was working front counter, and turned to leave yelling about how she refewsed to be helped by a Nazi (he isn't a Nazi he is just white blond hair and blue eyed and happened to live in Germany for a few years) a little while later the woman came back and he turned to the guy he was on grill with and was like "that is the woman who called me a Nazi"... Now all the staff joke about him being a Nazi even him.
I used to work at McDonald's and I for one can say that never happened once. Not a single manager, of many I'd met ever gave special treatment to someone who asked for a receipt. Never. Plus, everyone received a receipt no matter what, unless they rejected it themselves. Also, I was never told to look out for people like that. I worked service. Also the ice cream machine was always broken, btw.
...What? Seriously? Okay, im working at mcdonalds, and i see two big problems with that: 1. You _Always_ get a receipt, you dont _ask_ for it, you're given it along with your order number, like what kind of fucking scam wouldnt give you your receipt? 2. Where im from, the gapbusters aren't a thing anymore, they weren't a thing for a while now (Around a year), so the workers are safe from suddenly having to drop everything and rush to serve a single guy/girl who think they're above others
Do you get a receipt?
Mashed always
I will now
Only if there are survey codes to win money, not food coupons.
Mashed But,.. doesn't McDs already give the person a receipt, when would we ask for it when they give the customer the receipt right after placing the order
Michael Jastrzebski Haha I always write fake number codes on the receipts to get free food lol
That explains why I got a 2 lb lobster when all I ordered was a coffee.
RTB0234 why are trying to win an argument when you clearly lost
Boi, you made my day today lmao,
RTB0234 Man are you dumb lmao
RTB0234 you tried peanut brain, you tried
Shansen lol
You should get equal treatment regardless of asking for a receipt. You should ask for a receipt so you can prove they fucked up your order.
hello
Lmao
Echocookie my McDonald’s doesn’t care bout receipt I can say they ducked up my urges when it’s right and I’ll get another one for free :)
Echocookie very true,,,
I AGREE!!!!
You could be the most important person to walk into McDonald's and the ice cream machine would still be broken
Captain_Derps1 From experience yes
Only in murica
Captain_Derps1 YESSSSSSSS 😂😂
Am I the only person who has never experienced a broken ice cream machine? Lol
Jooheons dimple I worked there and it was only broken like once. And cleaned like 3 times in a period of 8 months.
While asking for a receipt might get you better food/service, I find more often I have to check the bag before I drive away to make sure what I ordered is actually in the bag. After a couple of times of getting home and finding items missing I always check the bag now.
Same!
Aleatha Vogel it’s such a shame but got to nowadays
Aleatha Vogel - something I tell my husband and kids to do before pulling away from the window cuz 9x out of 10 something won't be in the bag
And while on the subject of annoyances... how about when someone is told to pull fwd and wait for someone to bring your food out ... the driver pulls just enough to be out of the way of the window BUT hard for the person to go around them.
Aleatha I'd slip you my number n add super size what you ordered 😊
Always check your bags
Our receipt machine is broken.
lmao
I’m betting the ice cream machine is, too.
B 16 lmao
understandable have a great day
Y O S D O G G O B U R G
I've never been to a McDonald's in which they made getting the receipt an option... They always hand it to me either with my change or in my bag
Nowadays all the McDonald's have a screen which spits out a receipt anyway
Asking for them makes them aware of your gap status in the event you were an mystery shopper
Hence the video said ask when you're ordering.
*Is handed receipt*
"can i get a receipt?"
Nug tg lol 😂
May I have a receipt?
Lol as if the average McDonald's employee gives a rip about secret shoppers.

@@SSobotkaJr
Theres such a high turnover rate for fast food workers that owners would rarely fire anyone
Chelsea Baker that happened at me once at a rallys(or checkers). The transaction to forever to go through and it was weird. First time it did that
Chelsea Baker She is so smart!!!
no receipt/proof of purchase means you have the right to claim the goods for free, at least around here, so "receipt machine broke" is no excuse
Chelsea Baker What a great girl she is! 😂
But they always give you the receipt???
Ale Titan They mean ask for one personally, so you can read it in their face
Agreed. I worked at McDonald's way back in my teens. At that time there was only one receipt printer behind the counter, not one for every register, it was at the opposite end from the 1-2 registers we primarily used, and it was a dot matrix that took 10 seconds to print the receipt. yeah so you know your order number
Ale Titan or at least they're supposed to
Gonna depend on the chain, but also the location.
My mom always asks for a receipt because she knows the McDonald’s we go to, always messes up our order. 😂
Same
Love your user name
Yeah same. I started doing that towards the end and then I started getting sick every time I went to a mcds so I stopped going there all together. Shame I enjoyed it as a kid. 😦
Same
AllAmericanChemical Panic!Reject same
I usually eat the receipt because it’s healthier than the food at McDonalds.
Michael Bryant haha very true 😂
Michael Bryant j
True
lol
😂 very true!
Exactly 😂
I guarantee you, you dont work for mcdonalds. they were referring to fries and yes " front counter " which is not what we are even called, does do fries.
If they told you about a mystery shopper than it wouldn't be a mystery right? Lol
saffysaffyrocks some McDonald’s don’t do the number thing, mine only started doing it recently
I dont go to mcdonalds for 5 star treatment
No one should. People eat there just because they're hungry and have no time to make something.
+Blake Tonkel
Funny, McDonald kitchen are more hygienic than 5 Star restaurants.
That's because the food is bleached and has lots of nasty chemicals no keep it "fresh". Go look up a YT video where a guy puts a McD burger in a glass jar and see how many days, I mean weeks, sorry I mean months it lasts.
In addition, the receipt tastes better than the burger.
Woox Au Under rated comment 😂😂
Xd
Woox Au Well you're not wrong there
So true
Woox Au LMAO
Oh I thought it was to use the receipt as a thing to put your fries on so the grease doesn’t get everywhere
MangyMangoe that is gross you know how dirty that will be by the time your food is done
I once worked with the guy at McDonald’s who worked in the drive-through, and he would always add a dollar onto whatever total he gave the customer. He would make anywhere from $25-$50 extra each shift and if the customer noticed he would just play it off like he made a mistake then give back the correct change. THAT’S why you should always ask for a receipt.
lmao that's awesome.
why didnt I think of this when I was working at taco bell
lonman80 I wanna be best friends with that guy 😂😂
Well that's a crime that could get you fired and arrested but hey, try it out anyways
It's not a crime unless they find out
I ask 4 a receipt cause they Fuck up my order👎😤🖕
Abq Pinkman Same
Abq Pinkman for*
Same once we had to go around 6 times :/ and they didn’t make it fresh
Richard Mosqueda fore* four*
same lol once i asked for a big mac and they gave me a fucking happy meal and i was starving at that moment
I work at McDonald’s and none of this is true whatsoever
KRabe 33 it used to be, they got rid of gaps in replacement for food for thoughts, however they forgot to mention gaps have a very specific order, only one meal and I’m pretty sure it was no promo items such as big tasty etc
KRabe 33 you ever sneak a free meal? know i would.
The Ghost Dog Lol.. We get a free meal per shift.. Although some people do sneak bits here and there
Why dont you quit? Working in this shit company
when i worked there i could care less about a receipt. mcdonalds would be severely understaffed when i worked there. just me doing lobby and drive thru that shit sucked so i would make lots of fries haha.
This is true, I worked as a GapBuster in McDonalds, they've changed it now so they always give receipts. Great for us now ;)
I work at McDonald's, and i can safely say this is nonsense. Ignoring the fact that we always give out the receipt unless its a drive thru order, we don't give special treatment to anyone whether they ask for it or not.
Why would you not give a receipt for drive through orders? The receipt for the order should be attached to the bag or placed in the bag.
+Kevin Cozens The cashier and food presenter are in different windows. often people will refuse the receipt after paying and just drive to the next window.
Remilia Wolfe dude. Its mcdonalds. Dont get serious about it
+Willow Boysel mate. you can never be to serious about trivial things.
Remilia Wolfe I'm sorry to say that the fries from McDonald's feel like I'm eating sticks.
Why would I ask for a receipt when they always give it to me every time I order?
By you just telling them that when ordering you make them think twice to give u slop
It makes them think you are a secret shopper
That’s if they don’t give you your receipt like they’re supposed to then you ask for it.
no, I think they mean you ASK for it AS you order, like right after you finish your order...or else why would they ever think twice, RIGHT after you even get the meal???
@Enigmatic Destroyer actually makes a fair point - as MaccyD's has embraced new tech and more stores now have the pre-pay touch screens, YOU ALWAYS HAVE A RECEIPT REGARDLESS! Its how they track your order!
So this information - While useful - will only work in older MaccyD's with a standard store front - If it has the Card Payment, Pre-Pay Touch Screen shit - Forget it! You will still get treated like dirt.
HOWEVER! Nandos, KFC, BK, and many others are still embracing a more personal service - so there it will work...
"according to one McDonald's employee", really? only relying on anecdotal evidence.
brian im your 100th like congrats
i have a better idea, avoid mcd's all together...
embrj145 reev cbrd
Very cheap tho
embrj145 Agreed
embrj145
Well yes, you obtuse donk, that’s obviously the best idea. But I’m sure that this tactic will also work at many other places. Some of which actually are worth eating at from time to time.
Why?
It's a £5 meal it's not like we're having a five star meal at the ritz
Bunnyshooter 223 it's in pounds lol so that's about rite give or take
Good Memory, Bad Chess he wasn't trying to be tough you fucking donkey
bonniedog fuck me i live on the sourh coast and its only £5 for large fries, large coke and a big mac, cheaper if you got a coupon which get handed out to literally everyone
Considering there's something missing 4/5 times, this might be a possible method to make sure you get what you want, and freshly made
Me: Can I get the usual
Worker: What is it sir.
Me: a receipt
srsly... what is this www.youtu.be stop trying to download sh*t on peoples computers
sanan donas Thats the same website with a different url...

gold digger
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Caught me off guard son haha
When I order take-out (which is always), I never ask for my receipt, but I still get it every single time. They always put the receipt in the bag.
Simboiss in the McDonald’s in my area of England, whenever we order a Big Mac 5/10 times you get the burger the other half you don’t get what you want and they don’t really expect you coming back to get one Big Mac so it is quite annoying.
they will likely say they dont give unrequested receipts to save the trees.
MrBeard17 lmao
ALSO. you know the survey link on the receipt??? in the break-room in the back, there would be a printout of the survey comments, mostly complaining about how inaccurate their order was, or how long it took to get their food, and a lot about the bad attitudes of the employees. it also said that our overall accuracy was around 40%. if you did a really bad job more than likely the customer would remember your name and mention it in the comments.......and I've NEVER had my name mentioned.....
snailgirl6 sounds splendid.
It did state it was in the UK
real shit, glad someone said this
They're not saying that you wouldn't get one, but by asking for one you triggered a reaction. The receipt really has nothing to do with the video..
the mcdonalds where i worked was crazy good, best teammates, newest equipments possible and during the time i even got extra cash for serving mystery shoppers properly
I work at McDonald’s: this is such bullshit. We have to give everyone a receipt so they can’t ask for stuff they didn’t pay for at the pick up window. The only way you’ll get any kind of special treatment is if you’re the owner of that store or you work there
Aren’t u always supposed to get a receipt anyways
Harvard University that what I thought
But like if ur at McDonalds why would u ask for a receipt if your supposed to get one for ur order number
You can't disagree with Harvard University
Legally but most fast food places do not bother (not just McD)
This might be a country thing, but McD receipts do NOT have order numbers in Canada or USA. We get 3 separate papers. An order, a receipt, and a proof of payment.
There is another reason to ask for a receipt, and not just at McDonald's. Sometimes (or all the time, based on the fast food chain) the bottom of the receipt has what they call a "bounce back" coupon. Fill out a short online survey and you get a code number to write in the blank at the bottom of the receipt. Such coupons can be for free food items with no purchase necessary, with purchase necessary, buy-one-get-one free, etc.
I work at mcdonalds and I've never heard of this.
It's probably only a London thing
Dolan Duck The employee was right to an extent. But GAPBusters only ordered certain meals and they were massively obvious. But we've dropped GAPs now and we're using a different technique to get feedback 👌
Dolan Duck so do i, but mystery shoppers do exist, i haven't seen any though.
The mystery shoppers, in my region at least, were ended about 2.5 - 3 years ago and replaced with the ask ask tell practice
Dolan Duck your gay then
You'll get hot fries and fresh food?? Did she really say that?? Fuck!! And silly me expected hot fries and fresh food every time I go there and pay for food
Ross Egan Honestly none of that happens from Experience I would just hand them the receipt and go back to playing on my phone
Mcdonalds hack:
If you want to get fresh fries just ask for unsalted fries then they'll make new ones
x Hasan OR just ask for fresh fries. Though usually if they’re in a rush they’re fresh anyways.
x Hasan no the salt is the best tho u dum dum
WHOAman you can ask for salt after you get the unsalted fries
You're welcome
There are customers who yell at me for not handing out a certain item they didn’t even pay for.
When I ask them for the receipt, they either don’t have them or they won’t admit to their mistake. I mean, I have a screen that displays your order and there are no fries listed with your food, Nancy!
Savage Eater DAMMIT NANCY. WHY YOU GOTTA SCAM THEM OUT OF A PORTION OF FRIES? GET YOUR OWN FRIES NANCY.
Always assume the worst with ppl like that and you'll be right 90% of the time which is pretty damn good
They probably forget your items on purpose.
100% true as a former McDonald’s employee but I always got an amazing report and always give an receipt to everyone. I trained 10 successful workers after working there 10 months
*uuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhh*
I need my receipts..
*boneless*
Kennedy X'd me 😂
🅱️onless
Boneless memes are dead. Smh.
Hey Bighead that want
Wasnt funny at all

-proudly struts into McDonald's garbed in my finest top hat, suit and cane.- "mmmMMMYES, I do require your FINEST burger and fries my good sir. You see I'm a FANCY MAN and I insist upon the highest quality in dining experiences, which is why I have chosen this fast food establishment's cuisine. OH and I DO require a receipt." -snickers and twists my mustache-
You deserve top comment, brother.
oh shut up kenny
Lol
Kenny Kenny?! I thought you died?
Top kek
In my area the receipt has a coupon on it and survey code . 😎
Secret shoppers always get medium size.
S S if that’s true I’m always a “secret shopper”
I'm Shook-ith he means like people who rate their experience
Tutu Lovelyboutique you are the exception. Most are lazy fucks that want free shit
I work at McDonald's and this is not true lol
Karate Lebron especially now that a receipt is required for your order number so you can pick it up. Unless there's still MD's where you have to wait around the till still?!
It used to work in the old style mcdonalds. Never in drive throughs or any experience of the future mcdonalds.
I work at mcdonalds too one with a drive thru and sometimes people ask for the number rather than take the receipt
Karate Lebron can you give me a free Big Mac?
FuturePants You must live in the middle of nowhere where there isn't a lunch rush.
In Connecticut it's state law to provide a receipt for every sale.
joe woodchuck ok but specifically asking for one makes the workers think you’re a secret shopper
joe woodchuck Exactly
LAS VEGAS SHOOTER hahaha
In California they usually throw them away unless you specifically ask for it
I live in ct also I always get the receipt and I don’t even ask they always give it
“I’d like to get the receipt please”
*eye contact intensifies*
Must be some kind of click bait going on because the receipt is always provided at chains like these. Corporate don't want customers having to beg for a receipt as if this was some kind of mom & pop store that relies on the fraction of a cent saved on paper.
oldtwins na Yeah but asking for the receipt is what gives them the idea of your identity
I've been a mystery shopper for Maritz, Inc, and they're right, those are the peak hours they want us to do shops in, and we do have to provide receipts if we want reimbursement.
so you can give the doctor in the ER a diagnosis as to why you are there.
Sean O'Daniels lol I just burst out laughing on the train and everyone is looking at me
Sean O'Daniels lmao
🤣
Reminds me of this time at work a few years back when one of my older coworkers started having bad chest pains and we had to call for an ambulance. While the EMTs were checking him out, they asked him what he had to eat that day and he told them he'd had a cheeseburger out of the AVI vending machine we have there. They paused, looked at each other, and said "Yeah, that'll do it."
He ended up being alright but I still tease him about that to this day lol
Last time I ordered two filet-o-fish sandwiches, ones bun was stuck at the lid and the other ones bun was so hard I thought it was toasted but I kinda liked it lol. I don‘t expect quality from mcdonalds anyways.
Yeah, I often go to McDonald's because I want to be treated like royalty.
Yeah... this is bullshit. No employee making $8/hour gives a shit about their McDonald's rating, they get paid either way. Maybe in a perfect world.
Lol what? I was literally just agreeing with this dude's comment ...
even ended with a crying from laughter emoji .... Did you maybe think I was being angry or something?
I could care less. I just want my food.
Do you want shitty food from underpaid workers? Go somewhere better
In what way are they underpaid?
Well, at least you care... "I could care less" haha stoopid fuck Mook
Oh you could care less
tear728 straight up
This is true, my time back as area manager
i worked at mcdonalds for a year and whether or not you asked for a receipt you’ll get treated the same. how it works is, you don’t want your receipt? we throw it away. you want your receipt? we give it to you. we don’t go through the whole store yelling, “HEY THIS PERSON WANTS THE RECEIPT GIVE THEM EVERYTHING FRESH!” we just give you it and have you go on with your day this isn’t equivalent to treating you like royalty 😐
I'm employed at McDonald's and I've never heard of this
Maybe they're not supppse to tell you.
ELECTROCUTIONER I think it’s only in the UK
Same here
ELECTROCUTIONER if your quite new it’ll be because gap buster visits stopped earlier this year
I worked at Wendy's in High school and this is absolutely true.
NATALIE JENKINS Secret shoppers are pointless because workers cheat like y'all do 😂
NATALIE JENKINS no. Untrue.very.
NATALIE JENKINS everybody gets a receipt tho.
This is an underrated channel for the amounts of subscriber it has...
How's that underrated
Chase trash
This is just your everyday online "news" read out loud
You Are Supposed To Get FRESH FOOD & HOT FRIES EVERYTIME, No Matter who you are or what time you eat there, that's what The Customer is PAYING FOR.
you get what you pay for there xD
If you want fresh fries ask for them without salt fresh burgers ask for them exclude 1 item on the burger they will have to make it fresh i get fresh food all the time
Edit and if you ask for fries with no salt as they will still have fries they will cook the ones you ask for properley instead of rushing them out floppy floppy fries suck or half cooked
P.S. Ask for no ice as the drinks despensors are made to keep them chilled more juice for your money less ice watering down the flavour
not always...but also, never piss anyone off...
**or less you get your burger or food spat in...or worse** had a friend who had that happen... was...fucking nasty... XD!
I don't think anyone ever said anything about NOT getting hot food???? How high are you
Nintendo PlayStation the key words at our McDonald's was "just up". If you asked for something "just up" we could make it fresh, if you asked for "fresh" food the store manager would say "all of our food is fresh" and you would get it the normal way.
This is dumb , you get a receipt with ur order number
csyd22 but if you ask for one they may assume your a mystery shopper and go above and beyond to serve you.
ccrf2010 why the hell would this mystery shopper ask for a 2nd receipt?
csyd22 I watched someone throw my receipt away without asking if I wanted it. This is NOT dumb.
Taylor Sipp that's your fault for not speaking up and letting them do it
csyd22 how the hell you gonna blame the customer for a cashier's indescretions. gtfoh dumbass
Fresh food in McDonald's?
Tyrion Targaryen tastes just like the held stuff.
I don't think the McDonald's down the street that I visit every other week is going to think I'm a secret shopper.
If you're the type of person who believes they deserve 5 star treatment from a minimum-wage earner for a 29 cent cheeseburger, you might just be a McDouchebag.
on the rocks with salt 29 cent cheeseburger? Where do you live because theyre like $3 for the basic ass cheeseburger where I live lol
its like 3 bucks for a cheeseburger but they recently added the 1$ burgers with just meat source and bun, atleast here
We've had the 1$ basic cheeseburger (Meat, cheese, bun, ketchup, mustard, onions, and pickles) for a while. Actually, at our location they just removed the 2 cheeseburger meal.
29 cents,What year?
Damn son in NZ that same burger will cost you $3.58 USD...
At my location, we use kiosks so every costumer gets a receipt anyways, and the way we tell if we have a “mystery shopper,” is if we spot someone come into the lobby and then go through the drive thru, or vice versa. They check both for times and quality, so they always go to both.
That's not how it works at all lmaoooo
Wouldn’t it be funny if you asked for a receipt before ordering and the McDonald’s employee says “are you asking for a receipt because you watch that Mashed video on UA-cam?” 😂😂
i would say no, im out of toilet paper
You aren't important if you walk into McDonalds.......
No Neck lmaooo
😂🤣
So you even know what a secret shopper is and does?
XMetalMatter Rammstein Nope! Lol 😂 👎
Or you could just want a cheap good burger, but sure just generalize everything and show how ignorant you are
How would a cook know that you've asked for your receipt from the cashier?
Residew the manager will do most of the communication since they know more about the job than anyone else
Adam Norman managers do there own thing. service and grill barley ever communicate
Spencer | Sweis12 true but one time we got understaffed and the managers and to help the cooks out
Everything from the counter gets relayed back to the cooks
Some One I work there. The only thing relayed is the order on a little screen
I've always automatically been given a receipt and never had to ask for one.
Lisa Heisey Me either.
Pineapple No dumbass, they're saying an event did NOT happen to them.
Marcus Noble
No, it's still not correct. It should have been me neither.
Literally gotten a receipt with every McDonald’s order I’ve ever made in my entire life, never have asked for one
Either way, it's the managers responsibility.
tixximmi1 I worked in McDonald's for 5 years. It's a hardworking jon. But fs get a life and a better job. The.money you make is pathetic
Get your food and go. Don’t unnecessarily pressure these workers any more than they are already
I agree those poor overworked fast food employees deserve raises, let's raise minimum wage ... 🤣🤣🤣
jhanks2012 you should have stayed in school so you don't HAVE to work at a fast food restaurant
And yes let's raise the minimum so we can go ahead and get those kiosks they have in Japan so I can do my own order so I get the food that I want the first time.
Asking for a receipt is "pressure"? Lmao all they have to do is hand it to you. Plus, with the amount of times they've gotten my order wrong at McD's you best believe I'm getting that receipt EVERY TIME
But how else would other low wage slaves, unemployed, and disabled people get their opportunity to pathetically wield "power" over someone else?
+Megan Hill How often do you actually eat this trash?
Hmmm... How would they know you were a secret shopper when u don't get your receipt until AFTER you have placed you're order?
Also, I always ask for receipt and have never gotten special treatment.
I asked for a receipt once..
I own the franchise now. Great tip, Mashed!
Every body gets a receipt with there food . no one asks for one , and the employees can not single you out for special treatment . this post is dumb.
47tooter like this comment it is dumb the mcdonalds where i live asks for a receipt and sometimes i dont ask for one
So your comment is not true
Is that a sentence ? do you speak English ?
it's different when u
ask for it
I haven’t been in a McDonald’s in almost 10 years. I quit going because they hire such low quality ppl with nasty attitudes. I do miss the fries.
jacksprat418
Has nothing to do with race. If I don’t want to eat there because they hire shitty humans, that’s my prerogative.
vwr32jeep The fries are debatably the only good thing there 👌
dolx
True.
Same and ever since I found out all the ingredients no thanks. MAYBE if they went organic or all natural I’d consider it but I highly doubt they will.
Leo Rodriguez
There’s no reason for them to change. So many unhealthy ppl keep their pockets full.
Thought this was gonna be about employees adding charges for no reason so you should check.
It's really only the managers that MAY care if you are a mystery shopper.
lol in my country (Singapore) no matter whether you ask or don't ask you're still gonna receive a receipt anyway cause you have to collect it.
FuturePants can relate
ARMY 💕
FuturePants bitch try living in saudi arabia lol
Rip all workers, now they can't chill because everyone are gapbuster.
i worked at McDs, only time to chill was on break i worked from 7am-3pm, busy the whole time, also was near an interstate and shopping areas

I usually don't get a receipt, but now I will. Thanks
This makes no sense at all. Isn't a receipt after the fact? What are they going to do, reverse time and do a better job?
Not really when most of the time they don't have what you want ready and have to make it as you order it.
I can imagine that McDonalds is horrid enough to work for as it is, so now you're going to have a bunch of people 'believing they're royalty' requesting for a receipt.
i think this is pretty well known but for anyone who doesnt know:
ask for no salt on your fries and they will be forced to make you fresh ones, then u can salt them yourself
Honestly that's such a dick move since cooking up a new bath is long especially in peak hours lol
Simon if it’s peak hours there should always be fresh fries lol
dnadan77 I've seen someone ask for fries no salt, then salt packets in the bag through drivethru.
Sleeping With Veil At The Disco does it matter? I still got fresh fries😉
😂 haha, that’s what you think, what they used to do is take the old fries and put them in the frier for 5 seconds so they lose the salt and make you think they’re fresh, (now with double the oil and grease) when you think costumers know tricks well, the workers know even more 🤷🏼♂️ smartypants
nobody goes to TACO BELL in the morning, but when you do, their burrito wraps are soft, warm and the meat if fresh.
So is the shit that comes out of you 45min later
Us customers, shouldn't have to ask for a receipt just to make sure the quality of it is perfect. They should be doing that regardless. It's their job. We shouldn't have to ask for "can you make sure those fries are hot, please?" They should be nice and fresh everytime.
escuzeme fries will not be hot and fresh every time for each customer because it take 3 min to fry them, doing that for each customer would just make them even more mad
Adam Norman not to mention the managers breathing down their necks about service times lol
true
It's fast food, man. I can tell you firsthand that we don't groan or anything when you ask for fresh food, so if you want it then just ask for it. You'll have to wait longer, obviously, but if you want your stuff cooked to order that's to be expected.
Cmon now. McDonald’s aren’t that high quality
Midnight music Production but it tasted good
Worked for almost 3 years for Mcdonalds never did we have these people come through
Maybe you just didn't know it.
DowntownCanon he worked there for 3 years, he definitely couldn't notice that shit hahaha
i worked fast food at a few places, only the people that got hit by the SS was told of it, i got an 90 score instead of 100 cuz i didnt have my name tag showing, fuck im doing drive thru, i take money hand you food, i would take the money turn my back on them, hand them food and walk away, leave MOFOs
Logic 301 Because your profile picture makes them not want to order there
Yes that way secret shoppers don't appear secret at all for you can tell them apart
In Singapore, they used receipt to guide them on your orders but never they actually hand it over to you
1:22 every girls face when they look at the mirror
Tru
I am a girl and I confirm this
Manuelle Angelo Dela Cruz don’t you mean 1:23
Manuelle Angelo Dela Cruz LOL
Manuelle Angelo Dela Cruz lmao
Very misinformed. McDonalds stopped using mystery shoppers about 2 years ago; now any quality control is done by the district managers themselves.
Well, an actual reason you should ask for the receipt is because you get free food if you fill a survey.
you guys fail to realise different countries do different things
Is Burger King even still in business?
i think so, i mean hungry jacks is so it still is here
I always get a receipt because the McD's I usually go to almost always screws up my order.
Same but this one to get was wen t too a mc chick and I didnt check the bag so when I got home the only thing in there was the chicken
😁😁😆😆😇😇😇😙😙😚😚
Yeah we don't treat you any better if you ask for a receipt...
What if I roll up and ask "yo, let me get that receeep muthafucka"
Being rude to the cashier?
Ahh yes i too like to live dangerously!
rule one. never insult restaurant staff
Also the ice cream machine was always broken, btw.
...What? Seriously? Okay, im working at mcdonalds, and i see two big problems with that:
1. You _Always_ get a receipt, you dont _ask_ for it, you're given it along with your order number, like what kind of fucking scam wouldnt give you your receipt?
2. Where im from, the gapbusters aren't a thing anymore, they weren't a thing for a while now (Around a year), so the workers are safe from suddenly having to drop everything and rush to serve a single guy/girl who think they're above others
where you're from is clearly not the US, therefore your argument is void
