I love watching when Paula shares family recipes from viewers that she has never tried before. (and love to watch Paula and her boys recipes from their cook books too.) Love it all!
Hi Paula I just love you. I have a recipe my mother in law gave me. It’s for peanut butter fudge. We call it easy Peezy peanuts butter fudge. It calls for One jar of peanuts butter 16 oz jar and about half 16 bag of powder sugar give or take a little 2 sticks of butter and 1 teaspoon of vanilla and 3 tablespoons of milk. Melt the peanut butter and butter on stove top till creamy. Then pour that mix in large bowl slowly add powder sugar and the milk and vanilla. You want the mix to be a little wet but not gooey so if too gooey add more powder sugar if to dry add more milk. This is the best peanut butter fudge I ever put in my mouth. I hope you like this recipe .
We called them Congo bars in New England. Thanks for your content. It makes my day.
I live in NC and we have these during the Christmas holidays and they are known as chew bread with my family as well, just without the chocolate chips ❤️
I love the stories that go along with the recipes people share.
So glad I found Paula’s UA-cam page...I’ve been a fan since her first show.
We just call them blondies or scotchies, and they're delicious, as these look and surely are.
I wish I had family recipes and memories like you have from your mother and grandmother. It is such a blessing to have. The only good grandparent I had was my dads mom and she died 20 days before my second birthday and my moms mom died from multiple aneurysms caused by domestic violence from my moms dad and my mom was just like him and the Vietnam war messed my dad up really so I spent my teen years in group homes and my younger child years in foster care or with my dad and brother and sister in the most dangerous motels apartments in West Sacramento and woodland or shaking up with anyone we could so I don’t have any good memories or family recipes to share but for those that have those hold them dear and pass the memories down cause they are real blessings and your privileged to have them.
OMG can’t wait to make them, I could just imagine the aroma in the kitchen while they baked.😊❤️
I made this recipe last night and substituted chocolate chips for butterscotch chips. OMG! Phenomenal!!! Dangerously good!!!
That blouse looks great on you.
I'm diabetic and am allergic to xantham gum etc, so I have to make my own versions of things, so I'll make a version of this low carb👍😀
My mom made this same recipe for us growing up except we call it chewy cake. I make it for my kids now 💗 it’s so yummy 😊
Y'all that looks delicious
Paula
Want a easy peanut butter pie recipe, to make in a video?
16 oz of cool whip, 1 cup jif peanut butter, 1 chocolate cookie pie shell. Combine cool whip and peanut butter in a bowl till mixed all shell and chill firm and serve easy as pie.
When we were teenagers, my brother and I used to experiment with recipes from our mother's cookbooks. Our family often had dessert after supper so we looked for different varieties.
One recipe we made frequently was very much like this one but it was called Congo Bars. They had chocolate chips and pecans but also included coconut. They were absolutely wonderful!
Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe and sparkling my own memories of good times and good food. 🥰
This chew bread looks good and quite easy! Thank you Lauren and Miiss Paula for sharing the recipe with us. 🌞
🙋♀️I would love to have the old tunnel of fudge cake again...remember the one that used the powdered chocolate fudge frosting??😁
Same here but, I can't find the chocolate frosting mix any longer. :-(
Made it last night. Tasted great. Is it suppose to be gooey or cake like? Ours was gooey (almost underdone) but tasted good. We cooked at 300 degrees for 40 minutes. Is this the way it’s suppose to turn out?
Looks so good. Thank you guys for shearing. God bless
My mom used to make those. She called them Congo Bars. She was from Oklahoma but we lived in Los Angeles.
😍💓🍞 OH!!! Hey y'all! Love your perfect recipe for the bread! I hope that my mom likes it too! Thanks! 🌟⛅
Chew bread is big in NC, but I’ve never had it with chocolate chips, 🤔 must try it! ❤️
Oh Mrs. Paula, I love to hear you say, "Hey y'all!!" I do an impression of you and I say that😂😂😂. Your hair and eyes are beautiful. You have some tasty dishes on here. I'm going to save or send my favs to myself until I shop for the ingredients to cook along. I haven't looked, but are these recipes in print? Do you have a website where the recipes can be found? I just made a 7-Up pound cake with chocolate icing for my son's Fathers Day meal. I made myself a small sample cake. I'm sick because I ate too much. Why do they call that "chew bread"? It looks like a cookie bar. It's so rich. What you're cooking looks like a stroke in a bowl. That's what I love.
That looks like chocolate chip cookie dough! Lol! Looks delicious, but I'd only be able to try just a bite, as I can't eat that! Love you ❤️
I love your youtube channel... love hearing all your recipes... looks so good
This Chew Bread recipe looks so delicious Paula.
So many recipes across the country go by different names. After making a batch of these, I realized the recipe is nearly identical to the Blondie Brownies we used to make when we were kids.
Looks good!
Ive always loved watching. Love from Kentucky
Very easy and tasty recipe I like to watch your videos
My sister used to make these and sprinkled powdered sugar on top. She called these Chinese Chewies.
Good morning Mrs. Paula Deen have a blessed and prosperous day.
Looks delicious thanks for sharing take care 🌸💜🌸
Looks good and easy.
My grandma passed when I was little but I remember her banana cake to this day. I have never been able to find a recipe for it. It was a layered cake with a banana icing I would say she had slices of banana in between the layers. Do you or anyone on here have a recipe for it? The last time I had it I was 9 or 10 she made it for my birthday. It was the best cake ever. Thank you
Looked more like a cake....chewy cake.....sure looks good and sounds good and very easy to make.....I love easy......LOL
Hi Paula, Eddie and Teresa, I love your site and watch every episode that you put out. I especially love the fact that the recipe has a print button on it. I love cook books and I have several of yours, but I also love the fact that I can save only the ones that I like and I don't have to sit here and try to write them out like I have to do one some of the other channels. Hope everyone has a great day and keep up the good work.I am going to send you some of my family recipes as soon as I write them out, Gerry Morgan

I really love the name of this and I wish Laura knew why her grandmother called them this probably related to a funny story or something thank you very much
They look just like my chiparoo bars😃
Hey Paula
Anyone know how many cups are in a box of brown sugar?
For a one pound box, it's 3.5 cups loosely packed, and 2.25 cups packed.
@@stacey5925 Thank you!
Where do I sand recipes to thanks
You can send to questions@pauladeen.com! --The Deen team
@@PaulaDeen thanks
That didn't help

So two cups of brown sugar, then? Because 'one box of brown sugar' presumes you've got a full box hanging around...
Your grand children will talk about every thing you ever made
I grew up with no grand parents...and can only assume what I missed out on in life.
I did too Morgan. My maternal grandmother was a great cook. Both my grandmothers passed when I was 8.
@@kathyshock-swingle1080 I was a foster child, and never knew my maternal or paternal ones...and then my foster mom's parents had passed. My foster dad'''just never met his mom...not sure what the deal was there. I mean I remember my Aunt Annie. She was Sicilian and literally made spaghetti sauce in a cauldren the foster family was so big. In fact they settled in Hingham, Mass, and lived on Kilby St where each year, they had a 'Calvi Reunion'. Because so many Calvi's passed, it i s now the 'Italian Reunion'. Wow, found my cousin's obit while searching for the website 😟.
@@morgancalvi6675 I’m so sorry you grew up without a close family! I’m sorry you have lost so many. My husband and I were foster parents until we were transferred across the state (Indiana). Didn’t work out in our new place. So many of our family is gone also. Not even reunions anymore.
@@kathyshock-swingle1080I was in a foster home with a private adoption agency, Catholic Charities out of Jax, Fl, and my foster parents...were the best ever! Because I was 'foster' most the mbers of the family considered me a 'foreigner'...but I grew up with Italians...now that is a life challenge right there I tell you 🤣. I am very huggy, kissy to this day. I miss them terribly and would strongly advise any mothers out there that may not be able to keep their child for one reason or another...go to Catholic Charities. What a great life I had while growig up...but I did miss the closeness of family and not having grandparents. Paula's geand children don't know how lucky they have it.
@@morgancalvi6675 ……. Yes I was blessed with family. But parents that worked very hard so we were not loving at all. But I took care of them when they got sick. Both have passed. I couldn’t wait to be a grandma, but I guess it wasn’t meant to be. We raised 3 sons and none will be having children. I am a hugger too! I think growing up in an Italian family would be a trip…. But great food for sure. We were set to adopt a brother/sister we had as fosters. They ended up going back home.
Oh my, my eyes are leaking!
Haha! Now my family recipes are from Paula!
