SNP 'Will not stand up for Scotland's oil and gas industry' blasts Douglas Ross

- During First Minister’s Questions at Holyrood on Thursday, Mr Swinney was challenged on the SNP’s stance on oil and gas.
The Scottish Government’s current position, as laid out in its draft energy strategy, is that new oil and gas licences - which are approved by the UK Government - should meet a climate compatibility test before being rubber-stamped.
But there have been concerns from environmental activists that the position could be watered down when the final document is published.
Outgoing Scottish Tory leader Mr Ross said the position is “temporary” as he claimed the Government does not support new oil and gas fields in the North Sea.

I would trust everything Swinney and the snp about as far as I could throw Kirsten Oswald.
Yet again the Green presiding officer protected Swinney who was waffling and failing to answer questions. The second Ross questioned this, she was on him in a flash. The coalition gone, but the presiding officer continues to block scrutiny and protect the nats.

The SNP have a ‘rational and considered process’? They have never, never had a rational and considered process on anything they have ever done. Oil and gas, tourism, retail, hospitality…all utter incompetence.

Swinney claims that the Tories devastated the central belt.
Does he forget that it is Rosyth and Faslane that feeds into all aspects of Scotland's central belt. Which is primarily funded by the MOD. Be it the Ship Building, BAE, Babcock Marine, or the wages of the MOD and Service personnel.
Yet the SNP want to close down Faslane and Coulport both of whom directly employ 6000 personnel. The wages of whom contribute greatly towards the economy of the Central Belt including income of the council's.
This is aside from the devastation that would occur in the North East if the SNP have their way.
Wasn't it the whole premise of how Scotland would finance independence in 2014 from the revenue from oil and gas?
But to try and deflect by saying that Snr. Tories were corrupt, presumably over the insider betting by an adviser and a protection officer is particularly rich, considering the investigation into the corruption of the most Senior SNP members. Such a lack of self-awareness is stunning.

Norway issued 62 oil and gas licenses in 2023 29 of which are in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea
Any oil and gas they discover will go ashore in Norway ,and sold back to Scotland, the SNP are insane

Why doesn’t Dross go away and give us all peace. Even I know about licences for new and gas fields. The climate change has to be taken into consideration before licences are issued. It’s funny away back in 2014 when the SNP wanted independence they said that Scotland would be able to survive because we had the oil and gas so we would be self sufficient and now they still want independence without the oil and gas so how does Scotland survive. It shows that the SNP haven’t got a clue
If Westminster said that they didn’t want the oil and gas they would be shouting about that saying that we needed oil and gas. They just don’t agree with Westminster. If Westminster said one thing the SNP would say the opposite just to be different
