i went swimming in rivers in Slovenia around the 20th july and have a e coli infection still on 14th August and have been hospitalised. please quickly get yourself checked out.

oh Keely, that’s rough, feel better soon! You did well to get to Lake Bled early, we didn’t and it was a zoo, just too many people! Love Slovenia! We had the same issue at the border, but had to go to the big one to get through. To stay cool, camp by the Danube in Croatia and Serbia, lots of possibilities on P4N, and look for little swimming signs pointing to river. Although technically you cannot wild camp in Croatia we had no problem. Enjoy!

That really helps us a lot 🥰🥰 yeah we left a few days spare in case of emergencies, unlike last year we had zero days so would have had to fly home if we needed to. But looks like Schengen might not even apply to us now with one Irish passport 🤞🤞🤞

Hey Melanie, yeah I think you are right it seems like heatstroke 🥵🥵 yeah the United Kingdom (England, Scotland,Wales, northern Ireland) have left the European Union. However the Republic of Ireland is still a member. We are fortunate to be able to have access to dual nationality, but only just recieved my Irish passport while in France so hadn't used it yet.
The UK , its wisdom voted to leave the EU . This is referred to as BREXIT , short from British Exit. That meant Northern Ireland also left the EU even though the majority of the people in Northern Ireland voted to remain in it . The Republic of Ireland is part of the EU . The people of Northern Ireland are entitled to to apply an Irish passport . Many UK citizens are doing there family trees right now to try abd find an Irish grandparent which would entitle them to an Irish passport and the the return of travel benefits that they have lost through BREXIT.
Great video guys. I visited Slovenia in 2020 and really liked it. Lake Bled and the back roads brought back memories. Hope Keely is feeling better. Question though: if you entered Croatia with the Irish passport doesnt that mean your UK passports haven't been stamped out of the EU - or did they do that aswell? Will be handy if you can stay indefinitely in the EU anyway though.
Thanks PB 🥰🥰 they didn't stamp any of our passports entering Croatia, they didn't do that last year either and it looked like we broke Schengen by two months, but we had reciepts and stuff to prove we didnt, but noone even looked lmao. According to our passports we both entered France two months ago and haven't been seen since haha

I got mine stamped entering Europe this year but there was no ink in his stamp so no trace of it!! But they Stamped me out no problem they didn’t even look! I am applying for Irish Citizenship and then an Irish passport through my grandfather and my husband and I were wondering how we would travel etc so you have answered that, we had heard that some border official don:t know about EU spouses but it would appear that is is well known. Phil get your Irish passport sorted asap!!
That's good to hear you are also able to get the Irish passport. I think it might be beneficial to have the spouse document saved on your phone to show at border if needed, but luckily they knew about it here. Good luck with trying it at borders in the future 🍀🙏
Yeah took a few days, but feeling better now thankfully 🥰🥰 didn't eat for three days and then very little for the next two, so that's a big deal for me with my love of food haha. But I'm back up to full portions now haha

I'm sure if your married to an EU citizen the Schengen rules of 90 days in and 90 days out doesn't apply to you. As long as you can prove your travelling together all the time the 90 day rules doesn't apply. The only time that would cause an issue is if Philly tried to cross a border without Keely (because Keely is an EU/ROI citizen and your wife) or you were checked by the authorities/police. But as long as your together you are free to travel for as long as you like inside the EU. I might be wrong but it must be worth checking EU rules/regulations.
I think you are right Andrew, after researching it seems to be true, and now that it worked at this border for passing as one, I reckon it would work for Schengen too 🤞🤞
@@phillyandkeely I'm sure I've seen another van life couple mention it. One has EU citizenship through birth or family lineage (Parents born in EU) Both grew up in the UK but because they are married the 90 day rule doesn't apply. The only time the 90 day timer starts is if the husband/wife with EU citizenship has to leave for some reason. (work/family/health reasons etc). So once the partner with EU citizenship went through an airport or border check point the 90 day timer starts. If that EU citizen returns within the 90 days the timer stops. I've just remembered who the couple is. It's Freedom Strider on YT. So it might be worth chatting with them about it.

If you are married to an EU citizen you will get a EU passport of the country your partner is from. You are free than to travel on your own wherever you like and as long as you like in the EU. You don‘t have to be acompanied by your husband/wife - where to you think we are?

Apparently its a border for EU citizens only which sadly a British passport holder no longer is. I think Slovenia and Hungary are the only two Schengen borders with Croatia, I believe the other countries are also non Schengen so probably don't have the same "EU citizen" border, but I'm not sure to be honest.

yep said that ....u never beat the irish ... throw the uk one in bin when u get yours...the karma sutra rowing went from WTF to not bad and the water think was funny I think you married a wee irish mermaid....where there is water shes in it and so graceful on exiting I watched it twice had to I laughed and spilt coffee out over the divet and laptop but I am kinda stoned whilst watching it .... Anyway I have to say this was well put together and noticed you even did a drone shot whilst rowing so thats definatly and improvement from crashing into a mountain and nearly falling off a cliff to get it ...I think your editing skills are really quite something it is really good this channel and just wanted to say I can appreciate the effort in FC pro? ....very good and I have watched a few of the other van life channels but this is by far the best.. I wondered must it feel kinda like that JIm Cary film thing truman show doing a you tube thing yet noticed you only had a few sibs,,,,because I saw one couple who have 100k followers etc but its like nowhere near as funny and as likeable I guess ,,,,The thing is so well put together its natural.just sayinng. What happened? Did you eat sth that made you so sick? Or was it the water of the river? High temps can turn water bad with a poisonous type of plants or algae or sth... I'm not a specialist... Anyway, hope you felt better quickly, since it's quite some days later now...
I think I may have got heatstroke as I also had headache and high temp and fatigue. The heat was brutal that day. Took me a while to recover, but thankfully back to full energy now 🥰🥰🥰 could have been something in the water also, but surprised Philly didn't get ill if it was. Thanks for watching Chris ❤️❤️❤️

We have dual French British citizenship, we were worried 15 years ago that the uk might get kicked out of Europe. And in the end they did the most dumb thing ever …. Kicking themselves out. Feel so sorry for anyone affected by it. Well done getting across.
in Slovenia and Croatia is ilegal camping if you are not on campsite 4 a good reason. Had many problems with tourist who think they can be wherever they want to, you can't just camp on foreign land and potentially destroy it (agricultural arable land). Its not iligal if you drive a van or park it, you will be in trouble if you will not camp in the designated areas (campsites), campers, tents etc... Travel safe, i wish you safe adventures PS: how you didtn know you cant pass the border??? Brexit was on february 2020??? 2 years and 6 months ago?? i just cant process this
We didn't realise there was such a thing as an "EU citizen only" border. Usually it mentions anything unusual about borders on the maps, like "local citizens only" rules etc, but this didn't specify it was EU only, so definitely a surprise when we arrived. Totally understand about having issues with people wildcamping, sadly not everyone leaves a place as they found it.

It will be interesting if Phil has problems with over staying in the Schengen zone as I'm guessing the reason it's a EU citizen border is they don't stamp your passport or have links to the EU data base, Its just a technical issue, I was in Germany 10 years ago ( the UK was in the EU then as you will know) on my motorbike Brit plates and I was stopped from crossing in the border to the Czech rep because that border was for local traffic only, I just rode 10 Km's North and was able to cross with no issues, later I learned that there was a sign in German that was posted before the border that stated local residents only border crossing but not understanding German I was unable to read it. I think now you can find out if it's classed as a international border rather than a local or EU border, let me know if this is true. Great channel btw Enjoy.
Would love to know if you could use this border as a EU resident (my situation). I have a French residency card. As a EU resident I don't get my UK passport stamped.

Last year it looked on our passports like we were in France for five months but we actually made it out of Schengen on the 90th day, noone ever stamped or checked anything lol.
@@phillyandkeely I admire you giving the UK passport a go, But you have the choice in N.Ireland so if it was me I would just stick to the Irish passport and get Phil to apply for one too. I would if I could. I think a UK passport until the EU gets over them leaving is best put in the clove compartment until returning to the UK border checks. Just my view. Enjoy 🙂

But looks like Schengen might not even apply to us now with one Irish passport 🤞🤞🤞

Hey Melanie, yeah I think you are right it seems like heatstroke 🥵🥵 yeah the United Kingdom (England, Scotland,Wales, northern Ireland) have left the European Union. However the Republic of Ireland is still a member. We are fortunate to be able to have access to dual nationality, but only just recieved my Irish passport while in France so hadn't used it yet.

The UK , its wisdom voted to leave the EU . This is referred to as BREXIT , short from British Exit.
That meant Northern Ireland also left the EU even though the majority of the people in Northern Ireland voted to remain in it .
The Republic of Ireland is part of the EU .
The people of Northern Ireland are entitled to to apply an Irish passport . Many UK citizens are doing there family trees right now to try abd find an Irish grandparent which would entitle them to an Irish passport and the the return of travel benefits that they have lost through BREXIT.

Great video guys. I visited Slovenia in 2020 and really liked it. Lake Bled and the back roads brought back memories. Hope Keely is feeling better. Question though: if you entered Croatia with the Irish passport doesnt that mean your UK passports haven't been stamped out of the EU - or did they do that aswell? Will be handy if you can stay indefinitely in the EU anyway though.
Thanks PB 🥰🥰 they didn't stamp any of our passports entering Croatia, they didn't do that last year either and it looked like we broke Schengen by two months, but we had reciepts and stuff to prove we didnt, but noone even looked lmao. According to our passports we both entered France two months ago and haven't been seen since haha

I got mine stamped entering Europe this year but there was no ink in his stamp so no trace of it!! But they Stamped me out no problem they didn’t even look! I am applying for Irish Citizenship and then an Irish passport through my grandfather and my husband and I were wondering how we would travel etc so you have answered that, we had heard that some border official don:t know about EU spouses but it would appear that is is well known. Phil get your Irish passport sorted asap!!
That's good to hear you are also able to get the Irish passport. I think it might be beneficial to have the spouse document saved on your phone to show at border if needed, but luckily they knew about it here. Good luck with trying it at borders in the future 🍀🙏

I'm sure if your married to an EU citizen the Schengen rules of 90 days in and 90 days out doesn't apply to you. As long as you can prove your travelling together all the time the 90 day rules doesn't apply. The only time that would cause an issue is if Philly tried to cross a border without Keely (because Keely is an EU/ROI citizen and your wife) or you were checked by the authorities/police. But as long as your together you are free to travel for as long as you like inside the EU. I might be wrong but it must be worth checking EU rules/regulations.
I think you are right Andrew, after researching it seems to be true, and now that it worked at this border for passing as one, I reckon it would work for Schengen too 🤞🤞
@@phillyandkeely I'm sure I've seen another van life couple mention it. One has EU citizenship through birth or family lineage (Parents born in EU) Both grew up in the UK but because they are married the 90 day rule doesn't apply. The only time the 90 day timer starts is if the husband/wife with EU citizenship has to leave for some reason. (work/family/health reasons etc). So once the partner with EU citizenship went through an airport or border check point the 90 day timer starts. If that EU citizen returns within the 90 days the timer stops. I've just remembered who the couple is. It's Freedom Strider on YT. So it might be worth chatting with them about it.

If you are married to an EU citizen you will get a EU passport of the country your partner is from. You are free than to travel on your own wherever you like and as long as you like in the EU. You don‘t have to be acompanied by your husband/wife - where to you think we are?

Apparently its a border for EU citizens only which sadly a British passport holder no longer is. I think Slovenia and Hungary are the only two Schengen borders with Croatia, I believe the other countries are also non Schengen so probably don't have the same "EU citizen" border, but I'm not sure to be honest.

yep said that ....u never beat the irish ... throw the uk one in bin when u get yours...the karma sutra rowing went from WTF to not bad and the water think was funny I think you married a wee irish mermaid....where there is water shes in it and so graceful on exiting I watched it twice had to I laughed and spilt coffee out over the divet and laptop but I am kinda stoned whilst watching it .... Anyway I have to say this was well put together and noticed you even did a drone shot whilst rowing so thats definatly and improvement from crashing into a mountain and nearly falling off a cliff to get it ...I think your editing skills are really quite something it is really good this channel and just wanted to say I can appreciate the effort in FC pro? ....very good and I have watched a few of the other van life channels but this is by far the best.. I wondered must it feel kinda like that JIm Cary film thing truman show doing a you tube thing yet noticed you only had a few sibs,,,,because I saw one couple who have 100k followers etc but its like nowhere near as funny and as likeable I guess ,,,,The thing is so well put together its natural.just sayinng. What happened? Did you eat sth that made you so sick? Or was it the water of the river? High temps can turn water bad with a poisonous type of plants or algae or sth... I'm not a specialist... Anyway, hope you felt better quickly, since it's quite some days later now...
I think I may have got heatstroke as I also had headache and high temp and fatigue. The heat was brutal that day. in Slovenia and Croatia is ilegal camping if you are not on campsite 4 a good reason. Had many problems with tourist who think they can be wherever they want to, you can't just camp on foreign land and potentially destroy it (agricultural arable land). Its not iligal if you drive a van or park it, you will be in trouble if you will not camp in the designated areas (campsites), campers, tents etc...

We didn't realise there was such a thing as an "EU citizen only" border. Usually it mentions anything unusual about borders on the maps, like "local citizens only" rules etc, but this didn't specify it was EU only, so definitely a surprise when we arrived. Totally understand about having issues with people wildcamping, sadly not everyone leaves a place as they found it.

It will be interesting if Phil has problems with over staying in the Schengen zone as I'm guessing the reason it's a EU citizen border is they don't stamp your passport or have links to the EU data base, Its just a technical issue, I was in Germany 10 years ago ( the UK was in the EU then as you will know) on my motorbike Brit plates and I was stopped from crossing in the border to the Czech rep because that border was for local traffic only, I just rode 10 Km's North and was able to cross with no issues, later I learned that there was a sign in German that was posted before the border that stated local residents only border crossing but not understanding German I was unable to read it. I think now you can find out if it's classed as a international border rather than a local or EU border, let me know if this is true. Great channel btw Enjoy.
Would love to know if you could use this border as a EU resident (my situation). I have a French residency card. As a EU resident I don't get my UK passport stamped.

Last year it looked on our passports like we were in France for five months but we actually made it out of Schengen on the 90th day, noone ever stamped or checked anything lol.

@@phillyandkeely I admire you giving the UK passport a go, But you have the choice in N.Ireland so if it was me I would just stick to the Irish passport and get Phil to apply for one too. I would if I could. I think a UK passport until the EU gets over them leaving is best put in the clove compartment until returning to the UK border checks. Just my view. Enjoy 🙂
