Both my children went to university in Edinburgh so I spent about 12 years visiting several times a year for a week or so and I still have things that I haven’t seen in Edinburgh, places I haven’t been to. It’s the city that just keeps on giving. One of things I love about Edinburgh is how you are able to walk from one area to another so easily and each of the areas have a completely different vibe. Also the bus service is brilliant. You never need a car in Edinburgh. The last time I was there earlier this year they had finally put trams in to the city as well, they take you right out to NewHaven port at the far end of Leith walk. My son worked in Dean’s Village & the Water of Leith is just an incredible oasis of peace to find in a city center. Thanks for the aerial view of Leith water. That’s obviously something I have never seen, and I was amazed by it. Arthur’s seat is another must to climb for a view of the city from on high. Festival time in the summer is amazing. There are shows to watch in the street everywhere you go, people everywhere, smiling, and enjoying themselves. There are evening venues that you sometimes have to book& pay a little for. I’ve never been disappointed by the festival. Even if it’s raining in Edinburgh, which I have to admit is fairly often, there are so many places to visit, like the castle and the museum of Scotland, the Royal Yacht Britannia. I could go on and on, but suffice to say I am a real fan of Edinburgh and on a sunny day in The Meadows it is the best.
Thanks so much for all this insight! Yeah I was so surprised by the drone shot to see how close we were to everything, such a beautiful city ❤️❤️ all your recommendations have me even more excited for next time we are back!!
Oh your staying beside my old allotment at Telferton, that red brick building with the arched windows used to originally be a chocolate factory.that was my old top floor flat on the corner as you headed down to the beach, great views across Edinburgh and down the coast.I used to drive a black taxi in Edinburgh for 17 years on the night shift never got tiered of the views the city has 😍my friend has a flat just at the bottom of the steps heading up to Calton hill down that steep cobbled stone street.and I did the leadwork on the old round jailhouse up there on Calton hill👍.✊🙏❤️👌👊😎
That's so cool!!! Love all this infor and little stories of history and people ❤️ honestly the comment section is the best for having little glimpses into lives and moments of time! Thanks for sharing John 🥰🥰
So glad you enjoyed dipping into Edinburgh. There's a lot more for you to see. I used to come back from holidaying abroad with the thought it would be dull compared to those sunny places but every time I was freshly reminded of the beauty of the city. I lived in a flat in the middle of the Dean Village from 1984 till 2019. Then I realised I missed the tourist season. Because it became all year round. Visitors don't seem to grasp that people actually live there so the days became filled with groups of loud people led by a loud tour guide that were an all day, all year occurence. Also by the time I left I was the only remaining owner-occupier in my stair as air B&Bs took over. So I sold up and moved further out of town to a terraced house with my own garden front and back. I loved living there before that. It was a real little community and a dog walker's paradise because the river walk extended through the Dean Village all the way to where I live now and beyond, opening up into wider open spaces. But at 69 (at the time) I realised I was out of step and surrendered the place to the tourists. I'm grateful for the decades of living in that beautiful little oasis in the middle of a busy city. It was a fairytale place for someome who grew up in a post-war prefab on the outskirts and thought I could only dream of living there. I'm happy now living in a quieter place with greenery surrounding me whichever way I look and easy access to the Water of Leith walkway and the Union Canal towpath but with 3 superstores within 10 minutes walk while not actually on my street. The best of both worlds. Edinburgh's bus service is very good and I can be at the West End in the heart of the city in 20 minutes. Yay for the pensioner's bus pass. Haste ye back. You'll enjoy Edinburgh much more outwith the Festival crowds although you might enjoy the Christmas Market and/or the New Year's celebrations which also attract crowds but smaller, more centralised and with a different atmosphere. Also significantly colder (the weather, not the atmosphere).
That sounds like it was a magical time! So sad to hear about the air BnBs, I honestly think that concept is killing small communities, especially in coastal areas, I hadn't even thought about it in the city so that makes me sad. I'm also happy for you that you got to enjoy the time living there I can definitely imagine it being like a fairytale! Enjoy your garden and quiet, and we will most certainly be back again ❤️❤️
Hi, I loved reading about your time in dean village and your move further out later on. I hadn’t been in that area for decades ( though I live in Edinburgh) and certainly noticed the huge change you talk about. Thanks for sharing 🫶
@@phillyandkeely Roughly 10% of Edinburgh's total housing stock is Airbnb and it's growing. But the problem isn't just this. It's more that corporate landlords are buying up stock in the city and forcing rent and house prices to insane levels. Locals, unless loaded, are being forced to move further and further out. I live and work here and I, like Russ, eventually tired of the city being transferred from a place that had a few great festivals every year to a place swarmed by tourists and festivals all year around. I lived for a wee while in a city called St. Louis in the USA. Events and attractions were either heavily discounted or free to residents. That was a helluva long walk for a cup of coffee!!! My mum lives there; Stockbridge - home of Shirley Manson!! Practically ever second shop in Edinburgh is a coffee shop! ( Now I mean this!! ) my two favourite UA-camr couple on my favourite UA-cam channel experiencing my all-time favourite city. Loved this from start to ending.
@@williamhorner6080 i second this, i live in edinburgh and its a total shit hole, streets are filthy, junkies in every close asking for a lighter, homeless everywhere, roma gypsies begging with ikea bags full of shit, roads are in shocking condition, buildings are in a state of disrepair. princess street is a shell of what it used to be
@moffat5914 genuinely we instantly noticed the quality of roads DROP when we entered England, Scotland is significantly better than other parts of the UK 🤣
YOu walked past a flat I lived in 40 years ago! Clarence Street and Stockbridge are a great area to live, though where I am now, in Leith, is definitely the best! Our flats are right beside the Water of Leith at the Shore.
Yous need to come when the festival isn’t on.. we even avoid town when it’s on because it’s far too busy😂 Hope yous had a good time. Much love from Edinburgh💙🏴
What a gorgeous video! ❤ I've lived in Edinburgh for 22 years, & the novelty still hasn't worn off! I drive to work past the Castle, & always marvel at how stunning it is. Thank you for showing off our beautiful city in the best way! (You guys covered so much in the time you had...Fortitude really does do one of the best coffees!). I also can't believe how perfect a park-up that was! The climbing centre is a fairly new addition to the city, but it's peaceful there, & so close to Portobello for a wee wild swim! (You can also see my home town directly opposite Edinburgh, on the other side of the sea...that made me smile!) 😊 Looking forward to welcoming you back 🥰
I'm not a coffee drinker and I enjoy your coffee montages. It's "your thing"! I also saw an old video of yours pop up in my feed and saw your OLD coffee montage hahaha so I love that you kept that consistency in your channel.
“Ok guys”…”I can’t lie”…my jumper was right side out. But…my bathing suit was inside out…”you never regret a swim”! Love your channel…it’s the only one that makes me laugh out loud, every time.
Absolutely LOVE Edinburgh...apart from the fact that it's the city where my youngest daughter lives (I'm from northern Ireland like you two dudes) . Every time I visit there it's an experience....from the trams running from the airport to the city center to museums and loads of cool stuff like places to eat and entertainment in the city...it's absolutely lovely! "Is this it" the title of your video really doesn't do it justice and I know you two really loved it. Love you dudes...love the vid....Philly said it all when he said it was his favourite city.....mine too! 😎😎😎👍
@@bigwill4423 such an incredible city! So awesome that your daughter lives here, cool city to get to explore! We would love to do museums etc next time ❤️❤️
My beautiful home city - I was born there in 1974 and absolutely LOVE going back as often as I can. Anyhoo, right way out is the way to go!! A bit like reversing into a parking space - be prepared up front!! Luv ya!! 👍😃
@@markgraham3201 There are parts of Edinburgh that are far from beautiful - Wester Hailes, Niddrie, Broomhouse, Muirhouse, Granton, Gorgie, Stenhouse...Most cities would be ashamed to have such suburbs.
I do love reversing into a parking place, forward planning for myself, I suppose that's the exact same logic, but I don't seem to have mastered the skill of taking my clothes off right way out yet haha, need more lessons 🤣🤣
Yeh the fringe festival is pretty intense but if you want to experience the best of Edinburgh then mid July is quieter but august is just crazy ! Edinburgh born and bred and I hope it was everything you expected xxx
It was more, I honestly didn't know it would have so many beautiful buildings! It just all felt quaint but epic at the same time. Love love loved it ❤️
I live 40 mins outside Edinburgh, the only time I visit is to go to the Fringe! Thank you for showing me a different side to my favourite city! ......sorry Keely right way out.......😅 P.s this is my first comment, but I've binge watched every single video beginning to end. Thanks for putting a smile on my face by being you!
Grand video. Makes me remember to look at my home a bit more (Newtown, Edinburgh). Thanks, And - my shirt is correct. But a few weeks ago I managed to put a jumper on Upside Down. (It has a very wide neck). I was very puzzled for some time until I had worked that out.
Ahhhh so glad you loved Edinburgh! Our home city is a beauty. You chose your coffee well (hit us up for a zillion more reccs!). Inside out every time 🙌🏻
All cities have their good and bad areas. Edinburgh is beautiful and many people have said it's the most beautiful city in the world. Thank God you don't work for the Scottish tourist board with that attitude 😂
I live in Edinburgh and take what’s on my doorstep for granted, park outside the city like you guys did and catch a bus into town and walk around is probably the best way to get around the sights your video shows some of the best places for sightseeing in this beautiful busy city but living here I love to get away. Hope you have a wee wonder down the borders, some hidden gems worth visiting 🧐 Atb John 🏴☕️ Usually right way out but can also be inside out, doesn’t really matter to me as I dress myself 😂.
Another wonderful video full of facts and laughter...highlighted Edinburgh beautifully...when we visit from Australia we have all our favourite things sorted: coffee, vegan food, city view and walk along the river all sorted. PS. Ray top off right way out, Mary top off inside out...another life mystery solved by you Keely😅 💚💚
Inside out. Edinburgh my home town but would never go in town during the festival, but it has to be experienced. You learn to say no to flyers very fast.
Hi guys, another fabulous video, I visit Edinburgh regularly and your right, it is a beautiful city with so much going on, you really need a few days to explore, come back soon, lots of love ❤️
Thanks for the tour! Have never been to Dean's Village. Visited Edinburgh for the first time when I was 4. It's my favorite city in the world. Have only lived in Scotland for a few months at a time. (A year long visit cut short the first time.) But I have spent a summer and part of two others... and ... been to Hogmanay (it was cold, cold, cold) and visited the city when it was swamped with the Highland Games. Met a chef and staff from somewhere in the country who were there for their day off and we explored the pubs together (the row behind Princess Street) and they took me and my partner out to the best Chinese restaurant in Edinburgh for dinner and paid for it as they dashed out to get the last train out of the city. Great friendly group of people.
RIGHT WAY OUT! Yes, Edinburgh is a magnificent city, and not least because, if you need a countryside fix, you're never too far from some top quality spots. A bunch of us used to go to the fringe every year for quite a while, and one thing which struck me was the number of celeb's we'd run into in the street. Something difficult to imagine occurring in London... Our approach to the fringe used to be to look for shows which sounded interesting which we'd never heard of, plus identify a really good cabaret club as backup. We saw some really fantastic and novel stuff that way. x
Is it normal for a 62yo Aussie sheila who hates coffee to be so excited when I see a new Philly & Keely vlog pop up? Asking for a friend 😊 Seriously guys, you bring so much joy into this world ❤ ok, took my tshirt off & it was the right way out 😂
So my husband and I have been through the tshirt debate: we polled a ton of people & generally guys were taking it off by the neck seam so it was right way out and girls were reaching from the bottom and taking it off so it was inside out.
@@davidlauder-qi5zv To be honest the same could be said about London where I live.only the tourist areas are great so yeh I understand what you are saying.
My Dingo jumper, Outside out, but it's often half in half out. I didn't realise Edinburgh had such an incredible beach till I visited for the day last year, for me the centre was too busy with the tattoo and the fringe so was very happy to spend the day by the sea.
My t-shirt was right side out - but inside out when I was wearing it so...😅 Me and my family absolutely love your channel! Thank you for the laughter and fun. We could all do with more of that at the moment.❤X
Well working backwards with comments, well done on the swim, ehm my jumper is right way out when I take it off. So I went to Edinburgh Christmas this year,oh my word it's my favourite city I've been, it's like Harry Potter world. We found the original place the first book was written, there's a plaque on the wall. Ye walked a fair distance, well done you two. 👏 love the coffee clips, and I don't even drink coffee ha ha. Keep them up.
@phillyandkeely pretty busy, but definitely magical. Ha ha you two,I was paddleboarding today in a Lough, never too old, lastnight, swim at sun down,in very big rock pool. Never regret a swim.
It looks like a beautiful city, ty for taking us along! ❤ Oh also, yes to a NEED for the city vibes sometimes! And always right side in 😉 (unless the washing directions calls for it to be turned!) ❤
I was born and raised in Edinburgh and have travelled and lived in 4 different countries, 3 in Europe and Edinburgh is my favourite, Florence second fav.
I actually didn't realise Edinburgh was by sea, I always thought it was more inland 😂 My hoodie, t-shirt and shirt will always be the right way out because I take them off the same way every time. Definitely need to plan me a trip to Edinburgh ❤😎
@@Angela-1974 oh this is interesting Keely, never thought of it until I read Angela’s comment. Hoodies are outside out, because I take it off by the hood. But I think everything else is inside out.
Aww love this video. Edinburgh is beautiful and I love the atmosphere. The good thing about the Fringe festival is you find entertainment everywhere and it's good. I've always loved Edinburgh, it's history and it's people but as I'm a Scot I maybe a wee bit biased. Only issue I have though is that's it's built on so many bloody hills!!
We have been watching your channel recently and really enjoying your videos, seems we are from the same neck of the woods! Edinburgh looks fantastic, lots to do and see, nice views from the city from the hilltop, and the coffe shop looked delicious! We're about start our van life adventures around NI, any suggestions on good wild spots? ❤
Hiya kiddos!! What a great video! Edinburgh is a delightful, picturesque, beautiful city! Scotland is where my ancestors are from so seeing it up close through your eyes has been a treat!! It’s all so lovely! It’s a joy watching your relationship. You obviously have so much trust and respect for each other. Beautiful couple!! Keely, I’m inconsistent if my clothing is right or wrong side out when I remove them. No rhyme or reason just luck of the draw 🤷🏻♀️. That swim at the end looked COLD 🥶 but very refreshing! Can’t wait to see next week’s video! In the meantime take care of each other and give old Martha a hug for me. 🌴
So pleased that my home Edinburgh has brought you both such 'wow' moments. One of the nicknames for Edinburgh is 'The Athens of the North' so you'll know why now. I love all of Scotland but I live in Edinburgh. You are both welcome back any time. Keep exploring.
Oh how I love Edinburgh, went a few times. Found an amazing coffee shop by the docks - they did an out of this world focaccia with spinach & egg which became the inspiration for my most popular brekkie focaccias at my shop in Canberra (plenty of vegan ones). Such a lovely cafe, lovely people. So beautiful there. Only there in winter though, no swims to never regret!
☕ ☕ ☕ Philly and Keely and Coffee! Thanks for the laughs you made my day. I take off my sweater the right way out if I plan on putting it back on later. Which I do so..yeah, yeah that's it 👌 ok😂
Thank you so much for sharing this trip to Edinburgh. Just said to hubby we have to go there next year. I didn't realise it was on the coast so that will be a bonus. Take care and stay safe. See you soon. X
Its actually about 27 miles from the coast. Its on the shore of the Firth of Forth. My home town of Alloa is about 30 miles from Edinburgh and much further inland close to Stirling both are also on the Firth of Forth. 👍🏻
@phillyandkeely HA ha, reminds me of when our son was 4. We bought a new "smart" washing machine. He was amazed when the t-shirts and socks all came out right side out 🤣
I live 20 mins car drive away, I never tire of the city. I went to Edinburgh Uni and the old college building is beautiful. I was based down near the parliament, Moray house school of education, it's the oldest Uni building. Beautiful setting. The town is best in the evening as all buildings are lighten up.
Good to see you back in Scotland, if you ever need a spot to park up for a few days near Inverness, I have a Croft im sure you can find a quiet corner of the feild.
That sounds fabulous Tom!! We would defo take you up on that when we are back, I would really love to see your croft!! Small scale farming is so beautiful ❤️❤️
Makes me really wanna go even more to Edinburgh. We live very rural and I love nature adventures but also love a city stay too. Love watching you two, my fav channel and people on YT!!
A city is nice for a change, a wee city break is fun to feel fancy for a couple days then retreat to the quiet rural to recover from overstimulation haha 😂🥰
Wow! Gorgeous city and views! Stay as long as you can. Always right side out. I love your laugh Keely! I watch from WA State, in the US. I’ve always dreamed of seeing this city…..thank you.
This was an amazing surprise. I don't know how you managed to cover so much ground in one day. I always mean to visit Dean Village. Well done. Loved it.
Crazy to see you guys on the bus I take on an almost daily basis and passes right outside my flat, and on the river walk that I can access from nearby too. Hope you enjoyed the flying visit!
Not sure if it's a coincidence or it's contrived this way, but we only just had our Fringe Festival. It ran 8/1 to 8/11. And then we have some additional stuff called the Fringe Hangover coming up in September. Looks like you two had a fab time in Edinburgh, and I'm glad. I was there many years ago and found it almost overwhelmingly impressive! So as I sat here watching through to the end, I obeyed the command and took off my Pirates of the Caribbean T-shirt, right side out pretty much. When I take off clothes, they're all, always right side out and then neatly folded if I'm done with them. Ahem, don't know if that's compulsive. Further ahem... don't care 😆. Love you guys, you make my day, thanks loads!
Hahaha love that you folded it too!! I love pirates of the Caribbean, only thing sexier than Philly in a kilt would be Philly dressed as captain Jack sparrow 🤣🤣🤣
Oh my goodness, ive always imagined edinburgh to be amazing but now i just cant wait to visit , it is really beautiful and so green! What a great video and so lovely to see you both glowing with joy 🤩 Right side out Keely !!!🥰 Big hug !
Edinburgh is a wonderful city, and you were so lucky with the weather. When the sun shines on the granite building, beautiful. Jumper, right way out 🤔 Cheers guys 👍🐸
That’s just brilliant! The first time I walked through Edinburgh, I felt like Julia Roberts in Eat Pray Love when she walks around Rome. 🎉And then there’s Arthur’s seat which is a must after watching ‘One Day’. And… Portobello is just fab! I swam there on a full moon and there were people dancing around fires all dressed in white. I agree, Edinburgh is AMAZING! I had to put my pjs the right way round last night, I asked myself this question. So that’s weird. My adhd type brain is inside out! I have to make a conscious effort always to always change it 🙃😵💫🤔🎊🫶🏼 Loved this video, great content. Thank you guys ❤❤
Hi again. 😊 You both did an incredible job showing us around Edinburgh. :) I never new what the place looked like, I have Scottish ancestors so might get to visit there one day. 😍😁🇦🇺🇳🇿

Love a paddle at Portobello 😊 Yeah, in August the centre of town is rammed! So many areas to explore here, all have their own vibe (and good coffee places!) Haste ye back!
From Edinburgh, so title made me think I may possibly be offended. Instead I was endeared. New subscriber. EDIT. Water of leith is gorgeous. A healthy walk though. Did it with my work team last year and a few were struggling with sore joints at the end. Good pubs in Leith/Shore though! And coffee!
Awww love that you were endeared 🥰🥰 Edinburgh is a fabulous city!! We look forward to exploring more again in the future!! And thanks so much for the sub ❤️❤️
I live on the other side of the River Forth and have probably been to Edinburgh hundreds of times but every time I come out of Waverley Station, I still think wow.
My sweater usually comes off inside out, but I try to remember to flip it right side out again. I am very good at wearing tops inside out for a whole day without noticing *bleurg*.
Right side out because I take the time to make it happen. Guess I’m OCD! I can’t wait to see Edinburgh now. So beautiful. I also didn’t realize it was so close to the beach. You two are so much fun and your laughter makes my day. ❤❤❤❤

Awww thanks so much 🥰🥰 yeah was a very long walk haha! Such an awesome city ❤️❤️
Im Scottish and it is awsome to see my Home country this way being enjoyed so much by yourselves...love your vids 😊
Thankyou ❤️❤️ wonderful country to call home!
Edinburgh is such a beautiful city, no matter which way you look . Scotland is such a beautiful country. and such lovely people.
Yes sooooo true 🥰🥰
No its not and im Scottish
@williamhorner6080 😂 beauty is in the eye of the beholder I suppose 🥰
@@williamhorner6080 i second this, i live in edinburgh and its a total shit hole, streets are filthy, junkies in every close asking for a lighter, homeless everywhere, roma gypsies begging with ikea bags full of shit, roads are in shocking condition, buildings are in a state of disrepair. princess street is a shell of what it used to be
@moffat5914 genuinely we instantly noticed the quality of roads DROP when we entered England, Scotland is significantly better than other parts of the UK 🤣
Thank you very much for loving my home city. I was born here 60 years ago and lived here all my life.
Aww that's lovely Alan, yeah fabulous city we loved it 🥰🥰
I’ve lived here 17 years and it’s the best 👍like alan if I was born here I would never have left either.
Was going to say the same thing but 64 years ago. Don't be strangers, come back and see us again.
I came to live here in 1960, age 7. 64 here years now and no desire to live anywhere else.
YOu walked past a flat I lived in 40 years ago! Clarence Street and Stockbridge are a great area to live, though where I am now, in Leith, is definitely the best! Our flats are right beside the Water of Leith at the Shore.
Yous need to come when the festival isn’t on.. we even avoid town when it’s on because it’s far too busy😂
Hope yous had a good time. Much love from Edinburgh💙🏴
@@caroline_scotland When the Festival isn't on, Edinburgh's dead.
Yeah I think we would love to see it at Christmas, probably busy too, but a bit less intense
(You can also see my home town directly opposite Edinburgh, on the other side of the sea...that made me smile!) 😊 Looking forward to welcoming you back 🥰
Aww thanks so much Susan 🥰🥰 such a special city!! And yeah the climbing gym is brilliant location!! And great facilities, will definitely be back 💪💪
I'm not a coffee drinker and I enjoy your coffee montages. It's "your thing"! I also saw an old video of yours pop up in my feed and saw your OLD coffee montage hahaha so I love that you kept that consistency in your channel.
Hahaha, it's a constant for sure!
“Ok guys”…”I can’t lie”…my jumper was right side out. But…my bathing suit was inside out…”you never regret a swim”! Love your channel…it’s the only one that makes me laugh out loud, every time.
Awww thanks so much Beverley 🥰🥰 and very good impressions of us 😂😂😂 made me giggle to read!!

P.s this is my first comment, but I've binge watched every single video beginning to end. Thanks for putting a smile on my face by being you!
Awwww thanks so much Lyndsay!!! So glad you've enjoyed them all, that's some impressive bingeing!! 🥰🥰🥰
Grand video. Makes me remember to look at my home a bit more (Newtown, Edinburgh). Thanks,
And - my shirt is correct. But a few weeks ago I managed to put a jumper on Upside Down. (It has a very wide neck). I was very puzzled for some time until I had worked that out.
This made me giggle to imagine upside down jumper, thanks for that :)

Thanks so much Robert 🥰🥰
Keely i have never seen you so energetic you never complained once.
🤣🤣🤣 sugar high haha
Aww that sounds like a such a lovely experience!! Yeah we found everyone to be so friendly, such an amazing city 😊
It's usually called Dean Village. It's well worth a visit too.
Is that right ? Aye?
Great fun to share with you guys !!!
Thankyou 🥰🥰🥰
Totally INSIDE OUT !!!!!🌟🌟🌟
Yesssss me too!
We saw some really fantastic and novel stuff that way. x
That's good advice for how to enjoy fringe! Yeah I can defo imagine seeing celebs, it just had a great buzz about it!
Is it normal for a 62yo Aussie sheila who hates coffee to be so excited when I see a new Philly & Keely vlog pop up? Asking for a friend 😊 Seriously guys, you bring so much joy into this world ❤ ok, took my tshirt off & it was the right way out 😂
I'm impressed it was right way out!! Mine never is haha. Glad we bring a little joy into your day 🥰🥰
@@phillyandkeely must admit, I was impressed too as I was sure it would be inside out 🤣🤣♥️
So my husband and I have been through the tshirt debate: we polled a ton of people & generally guys were taking it off by the neck seam so it was right way out and girls were reaching from the bottom and taking it off so it was inside out.
That is exactly what we are experiencing! So really we are both right haha!!
Edinburgh looks amazing and you were so lucky to have good weather. A great video guy's.
