  • In this video, we explore the beautiful scenery of Croatia in our self-built camper van and are forced to camp in the wild. VANLIFE CROATIA - Can you Wild Camp? We find out!
    We drive to the most southerly point of Croatia, a slim peninsular of land jutting out into the Adriatic Sea that was a former military fortress projecting the southern coastline but now abandoned.
    There are a lot of little roads between the bushes and trees where you can find a secluded parking spot and the views from this location are breathtaking.
    Google map location for the helipad goo.gl/maps/D5...
    We drive back along the scenic coastal road to the capital city Dubrovnik. The old wall city is really worth a visit, the white buildings capped with bright red clay tiles are a sight to see.
    We park overnight in the local Hospital, with only a short walk along the coast to the old town.
    It cost us 110 kunas to park for 24hrs which was roughly £12 GBP at the time of filming.
    Google map location for the hospital car park goo.gl/maps/ar...
    At the time of filming (Nov 2021), most of the campsites are closed for the end of the holiday season so it is more acceptable to wild camp as long as you respect others and the local area. We find a wild camp spot in the region of Kućište, surrounded by nature and right by the sea. It used to be a campsite but now disused. You are permitted to park there and its off-road location, surrounded by trees, makes for a very nice place to stay.

    Nice one Greg. We have been in Croatia for over a month and I have to say, its one of the most beautiful countries we have ever visited. Parking up was never an issue for us because we are out of season. But so many reviews on Park4night said they were woke up and fined 1000kuna per person in the van. So my advice to anyone, is visit out of season! 😉 All the best Greg & Lou👍

    glad you are finally putting that beautifully built van to use!! I like how it's so calm you just decide to kind of whisper. I haven't finished watching it yet. I ordered my van! Will probably take 9 months. i need some help with my electrical and how to lay it out. I have a better idea now but am wonder if i should just put most of my cables to a bus bar. The one that is puzzling is the isolator (not getting a dc to dc charger yet). I upgraded the alternator from 180 to 220 A and am wondering how much actually gets to the house battery, i think the isolator supports 140. I expect my two agm batteries will be charged in an hour of driving. You had Great Weather.

    • @alutious
      @alutious 2 роки тому

      I am also impressed with how quiet your van is with all the movement that your great camera angle is showing.

    • @GregVirgoe
      @GregVirgoe  2 роки тому +1

      I would recommend you go with a DC to DC charger as it will meter the correct amount of charge into your leisure batteries depending on their make and state of charge. Be careful trying to put too much charge into lead based batteries too quickly can cause overheating and more series problems. A rule of thumb is 10% of the rated capacity.
      So 200Ah of battery should be charged with max of 20amps. 👍🏼

    We had a brilliant time in Croatia out of season
    We got caught in the mother of all storms further up the coast in Rovinj.. We were parked up with our friends in an old disused campsite very similar to the one you guys stayed at, and there were trees falling around us and we had to retreat to safety
    We did the border crossing into and out of Bosnia with no problems at all although it was very surreal.. We love turning up at border crossings and experiencing what each country has to offer.. Montenegro and Albania were really cool crossings, sat with mainly locals 🚐💨❤️
