@stopthesejets the intermediat cold weather bag goes in the patrol warm weather bag since the patrol is water resistant on top . In temperatures below -40 a good suggestion is to combine 2 cold weather together to get maximum versatilyty in cold extreme cold weather.
the differance is you freeze youre but if you dont have the acu 5 peice modular sleep system -40 rated even -50 with primaloft happy suit ...balaclava ... the woodland sleep system is -30 rated
Thanks to the more informed comments I have a better feel for this sleep system. Though I did appreciate seeing the MSS the review could have been better. What do you think is a fair price for this? Iv'e seen it for as much as $271.00 on eBay.
There is no difference between the new and the old MSS. The system designed for climates to minus 20 degrees Fahrenheit when the user is wearing the lightweight undershirt and drawers or mid‐ weight shirt and drawers and standard cushion sole socks, to minus 30 degrees Fahrenheit when the user is also wearing fleece jacket and soft shell or loft trousers, and to minus 50 degrees Fahrenheit when the user is also wearing additional layers of the Extended Cold Weather Clothing System (ECWCS).
Hello, I have a question On websites it says "Genuine U.S. Military Goretex 5-Piece Improved Modular Sleeping Bag System" What is the difference between this new one (5-Piece digital silver) and the old one (4 Piece green camouflage)? What kind of improvements are between the two?
Utilizator rather then asking it would be better to research a bit cause you were given the WRONG information The 5 piece USGI sleep system is not any different then what this video is showing. its still a three part bag the extra 2 pieces are just compression bags. So you will get the outer bag, the patrol bag and the intermediate bag and then 2 bags.
oh and the new bivy has a bug screen built in that i dont realy trust, but what do i know. I have the woodlen version and rarely gets below zero F here. and snow is rare. would rather rain and freeze. I would rather just have snow.
hyper and ultra light hiking...base weight about 10 to 15 lbs for everything but food and water...very common, in the Appalachian Trail...USA... sleeping bag...about 1 lb....and tent, could be less than one lb....backpack...2 to 4 lbs...
