    For anyone that wants to help, make sure to share the kickstarter with your networks! Shared it on my LinkedIn in and it ended up getting passed around/reposted a bit, but I'm still pretty small scale lol

    Thank you Robert for all your contributions to the Blender community, I'm just starting out on UA-cam teaching Blender with my channel, my tutorials are a bit rough around the edges but I will improve over time. Anyway, all the best of luck with Tiki, I have just made my pledge. I really hope and encourage others to back this project, it will be great to see Tiki succeed.

    I went to your web page and if you want to give some mone. It is confusing on how you give it. I don't want to join anything. I just want to give some money

      Thanks for wanting to contribute. As soon as money is involved, on any site, you need to register some how so that there’s a paper trail. And if the Kickstarter doesn’t work, then you get your money back. But for that they need to be able to reach you. But I fully understand your point. :-)

    Blender is popular in 3rd world countries, many of the artists who wanted to work on the project for free, are from such countries. You can't be begging us for money while you post videos with Paradise in the background. Do you see the problem here? Find voice actors, sound editors etc. who will also work for free so that the project is done with 0 budget. Wouldn't that be even more amazing? I admire what you do, but if you ask for money directly one more time I am gonezilla.

    • @lonesomealeks4206
      @lonesomealeks4206 Рік тому

      For sound, I'd ask in the Audacity community, for video DaVinci resolve. I'm sure there will be talented volunteers. If the voice actors really want to be paid, ask someone rich for money, like Mr. Beast or some other yt-ahole...

    • @thenout
      @thenout Рік тому +3

      It's not that simple. Bob's in paradise because a Tiki sponsor sent him there. He's there for work, which basically means he works for free and also cannot go about his regular job. Some key positions like composer / voice actors etc are best attached to the project by paying them, otherwise you run the risk of them just giving up mid-way through because of a paid job or dwindling interest. Consider that these people have nothing to do with Blender, and since the whole film is dedicated to Blender, from the community for the community, it's fair to ask community members if they want to contribute by working for free. What you gain in return is priceless experience in CGI film workflows.
      "Ask someone rich for money"... well, what's the chances in getting huge sponsors if there's no return of investment at all? You'd wanna reach out to rich non-Blender users to hand over cash for fuck all? Also, this goes against the idea of a community project to begin with, plus you'd be exposing yourself to the whim of executive producers. This can easily jeopardize the whole venture. If this would be your strategy, god bless, but this undertaking has a different approach for good reasons.
      Next to that, I'm sure you're aware that Bob has provided amazing insights and tips n tricks for Blender users. If he's exploiting anyone, he's exploiting himself since there isn't any money in running this channel. After all his work he's sticking his head out, dedicate at least a year of his time for a community project he doesn't get paid for, start an incredibly ambitious feature film undertaking that will push Blender into the VFX pipelines around the world even more... and you're upset because he bangs the drums for contribution and not spend his time scraping other communities for free talent? If that's your attitude, the whole Blendersphere just might not be your thing, mate.

    • @lonesomealeks4206
      @lonesomealeks4206 Рік тому +1

      @@thenout Blender is a 3D tool, not a religious cult, so there is no shame in asking for help from outside of the "blendersphere". Because it is so ambitious I'd rather not see it fail. Too much pride will do no good here.

    • @thenout
      @thenout Рік тому

      @lonesomealeks4206 You're right, it shouldn't have an exclusive cult aspect to it. There's no shame in / problem with reaching out to other "communities", but still, isn't it rather shameless to ask for free labor if you made no contribution to that community prior and couldn't care less about doing so in the future?
      Personally i'm involved in Resolve user groups, I ask for and give advice, but as a normal bloke asking around for someone to color a feature film for me is a bit presumptous, wouldn't you agree. We're all way beyond this "do this for free, you'll get exposure!" kinda deal, at least as far as I'm concerned.
      To begin with, you need senior artists for all non-vfx related jobs to uphold the production quality, so as a producer, you'd rather spend all your time sifting through applications, compare showreels and whatnot, to find a bearable compromise in risk vs. quality delivered?
      I've done enough no-budget films in my day and can't count how often a project almost sunk because this and that dude didn't show the comittment that was ultimately needed.

    • @lonesomealeks4206
      @lonesomealeks4206 Рік тому

      @@thenout "What you gain in return is priceless experience in CGI film workflows." this is what you said. This also applies to other fields, not just 3D and blender. Don't be a hypocrite. I'd agree, the commitment may vary, that is always a risk, paid or not.
