  • For years Citigroup Inc. has been an anomaly among big banks, relying on an obscure piece of software it helped develop to manage loan payments. Just as the bank tried to replace it, things went terribly wrong.
    The saga began emerging in court this week as the firm blamed human errors for mistakenly sending $900 million to a fleet of hedge funds reluctant to return it.

    I came to this video purposely to say it’s funny how a bank accidentally sends money to a “district” and they can’t their money back but if they send money to a person and they tried to keep it they could face jail time and have to pay the money back I find that very fucking criminal and oh let’s not forget why they say they feel that way. It’s because you didn’t earn it. Yet this district didn’t “EARN” shit either

      It is a mistake. If you look up further on this issue, you would find that the issue did not stem from the incorrect values being inputted. The values were correct, only the UI of the software (Flexcube) was terrible and the maker of this transaction did not click on two checkboxes, because they did not understand its meaning.

    I wouldn't give it back either. Citibank very kindly paid Revlons bills. I'm sure they found a few scapegoats to fire.

    OMG.... after two Boeing 737 MAX crashed caused by aviation software bugs and now banking software bugs caused huge loss for Citibank - something seriously wrong with India software engineer, too much curry gravy caused an impulsive serious mistake?

    • @Satu_Supari
      @Satu_Supari 3 роки тому +1

      737 MAX was not because of Indian software. They did what they were asked. It was Boeing fault who tried to pass 737 MAX like previous model and failed to disclose to regulator the changes made in the software (coz that would have delayed the process of launching the aircraft). Because of this the manual process of overtaking the software was not given in manual which caused the aircraft to crash.
      FYI: HCL was cleared and still supplies software worth billion dollar annually to Boeing.

      @@foodlover3129 Sorry bro, in citi bank case i can agree it waa India employees fault but not in Boeing case. HCL did what the client demanded.
      Boeing didn't do the due diligence. They made so many changes to the aircraft but failed to review the regulator. Also just read the report, you will find what happened. HCL had zero involvement in it and was cleared of all charges. That's why the still code for Boeing today.
      And Boeing never blamed HCL for it, it was ex employees who also didn't have any knowledge about the cause. On day of crash they just said Boeing outsourced software to engineers working for 8 dollars an hour or something like that.

    This video doesn’t know what there talking about it it’s obvious. It’s 500 million not 900 million.

    • @curlyanoable
      @curlyanoable 3 роки тому +1

      Sounds like you are the one that don't have a clue what you are talking about. It is 900 million that was accidentally sent in the first place. The bank recovered close to 400 million. So they still need to recover 500 million and change.
