I built one for my dads target for fathers day last year. A much cheaper version for him but I am thinking about adding a roof after this! I also added a hanger underneath for my broad head target to hang from! Dual purpose :)
For now I'm holding my KH target in place with two posts driven in and the grommets tied to them with baling twine. Might build a frame for in the barn come winter.
Looks great! Just a tip for everyone in the comments, considering how much more lumber is just use 2x4’s to save some money. Built 3 of them for my range at home about 6 years ago and they have held up great with my large bulldog targets hanging on the them. Not the heaviest target out there but they are heavy enough to give the frame a work out lol. Also paint them or oil them just to keep them from rotting as quick.
Knocked it out of the park on this one guys. I have one I built in my back yard and it’s holding up nicely. This has definitely been a great year for the ElkShape community and we’re only getting started. Thanks for the content.
When I move in the new house I'm def following these plans. Thanks for the ideas 👍.. I hope you and the family are staying healthy and safe. Here in ny sucks.. Amen
@elkshape I'm getting ready to build 6 of these for a range here in Michigan. Any chance you have a "cut list" that will give the dimensions? Specifically, I'm looking for the cuts on the 4x4 vertical pieces, they look longer than 10 foot pieces that are cut in half. Thanks, Keep Hammerin'.
Man I hate the sticky goo left on my arrows with the high rollers that said I’ve shot the hell out of it and finally had a pass thru with a broad head the other day! I’ll by them again. Also I used to work for them right out of high school!
Just For Fun their targets are cheap in the budget. The bag targets especially. I was thinking about one 3D elk from Rhinehart but for the same price I could get all the Morrell targets 👍🏼
I need to build something. I have been fine with my bag but recently switched to the vap elite .166 arrows and the guy told me not to shoot at bags too much because it can pull out the outserts. So I guess I gotta buy a foam target or build one
A cheaper roofing option would have been to use metal or fiberglass sheeting material. Might not last as long as wood and shingles, but should still get you at least 10-15 years and would cost less than a of a sheet of osb at $35 and a pack of shingles at $30. A single sheet of metal roofing sheeting is about $30 or a sheet of fiberglass is under $20. Just saying, if you are buying materials from the store, can save you a little.
I'm not trying to be "that guy" but I'm just letting you know the auto focus on the camera is messing with me haha ...besides that I'm gonna build one of these myself I like the design it's perfect
Anybody interested in building something similar?

Elk Shape heck ya! I need this in my life 🤘🏼

Yep - Will start on mine this week!
I literally build an 8x8 wall and used some eye hold screws to suspend the same bag. Can shoot up to 40yr.

we are all doing our best, thank you and be well 🙏
All those targets “must be nice” 😂👍🏼 sick set up man 🤙🏼
I’ve been trying to think of an outdoor target setup. This will work perfect. Thank you for sharing.
of course - thanks for your support 🙏
Sweet setup Dan 🍻

Good on you for helping protect your dad.
Just got new bag targets and was thinking about doing something similar. Thanks for the idea's!
An improvement. On the roof use aluminum drip-edge all the way around. Then go around with aluminum facia. Then shingle.
A cut list would have been nice but great job man!
Love the build. Awesome design. I’m definitely gonna do something similar
thanks dude

glad it held up for the long haul
Costco gardening gloves for the win!!!!!
Damn bro morrel hooked you up!! Nice set up!!

I would recommend putting on metal tin for the roof instead of shingles
fair recommendation Chuck
Well done Dan I'm going to make one I think!
very cool!
CONFIRMED: this is a badass archery target
Thanks Brian Im going to do this. Will this bag Stop the arrows or does it need something behind it?
it will stop arrows
@@ElkShape Dan Sorry for calling you Brian I Listened to Eastman's Elevated Podcast Before I watched your Video

got it
@@ElkShape any experience on the subject? I'm not sure what to get with these outserts.
Awesome build I need to do this 💪
yes!
What length did you go with for the sides of the base (running front to back)? I may have overlooked it but I didn't catch that length
Dylan Heartsill 4’ 🤘🏼
@@ElkShape thanks. I was actually about to build one myself, planned on 4' but wasn't sure if that would be wobbly
Whats the lengths of the left and right base pieces?
Legit! Those are built for war. Also your dad is a smart guy. If everyone wore masks we wouldn't have to do this social distancing business.
rocking Rod aint messing around
You and your dad build targets like I build permanent tree stands..#OVERBUILT LOL
built to last, no doubt!
I thought it was a diy archery target 🤔 like the title says lol, but no it was a very expensive target stand and targets... great video
thank you
I second this. Was looking for great home made targets, not target stands. But still interesting build.
What pants are you wearing?
Is this a video on how to build a target or a video on how to build a target stand?
Why the roof?

Uh.....houses behind targets....nervous neighbors?
Very nervous - TC and if you believe that I'll tell you another
