Just like I did for Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Assassin's Creed Origins, in this video I talk specifically about all the positive things Assassin's Creed Syndicate did and all the major things it did right. Assassin's Creed Syndicate has a pretty divisive fan base however there are still quite a lot of changes in Syndicate that were for the better. syndicate's stealth is SO GOOD i cant believe the same people that made syndicate made odyssey....
I miss the stealth aspect of Assassin’s Creed in the newer games :(
Stealth is really good in Odyssey??? Enemies have so much health that in those camps I always use stealth and its really fun. I know a lot of people have problems with how "unrealistic" the abilities are but none of these games have ever been realistic lol

The term "black box" is used in science experiments where input and output are the focus, rather than the process. This applies to the main assassinations, such as Elliotson and Attaway, where Jacob goes in and you can do it however you see fit. The input is Jacob entering the mission, and the output is the death of a Templar, what happens in the process is not the focus or is up for interpretation.
The usage of the term "black box" for these missions popped up online due to the nature of the missions in comparison to the experiment type.

I love Syndicate and there are many reasons for that.
1) The dark (Victorian) tone combined with perfect soundtracks
2) Brother and sister dialogues ( they are really different from each other)
3) Architecture is awesome in Syndicate ( I know all ac architectures are awesome but Victorian era hits different because there is something special about that era)
4) I love the idea of playing with different characters ( if they game developers can implement it well)
5) DLCs are very good
There are much more reasons why I love Syndicate but I want you to experience those things.
I’m happy to see more people giving this game the “love” it deserves and I wouldn’t be surprised if more people start changing their mind about it as it’s been happening lately with Unity.
This video sums up a lot of what I love from ACS and I even like the all the side missions like the kidnapping, hijacking, races and all that. Love the settings, the music, the outfits and even the twins interactions as it reminded me of me with my sisters 😂
ACS is a game that I gained my self going back to every now and then just to roam around and do some stuff and actually have a good time doing them.
It's the game people had a good reason not to like but prefer over the newer games because it kept to the strengths of the franchise.
@@65firered Yeah, I preferred it over the RPG era and it definitely have a more AC feel than the las 3 game, but on its own is a good game.
Syndicate is probably my favorite. It's not what I'd call the BEST AC game, but it's the one I have the most fun with.

One thing I haven't seen much mention of is the train hideout. It would have been so easy to have a static base like the other games(I mean, the Jackdaw and Morrigan are sort of mobile bases, but all the "comforts of home" were at Great Inagua/Fort Arsenal), but having a base that moves around the map was a stroke of genius. I love realizing you're near a side mission or collectible and being like "back in a bit", or finishing up and realizing your hideout is just a few rooftops away as opposed to halfway across the map. Just a brilliant idea.
I really do like Jacob and Evie's dynamics as siblings, the rivalry that sometimes gets heated, but ends up strengthening their bod as (in Vin Diesel's voice) family.
Also there is quite a lot of humour, especially on Jacob's part, and most of it sticks.
This was my first AC and damn, but it was a grand old time. I've almost played all of them by now, currently playing through Revelations. But this will remain my favorite setting in the series...
There's just something special about London; the zipline, trains, carriages, the Thames, the first world war section, all the factories and railway stations, the diverse animations of NPCs, the big buildings like the bank of London and their black box missions... There's a lot to appreciate about this game.
Lol bro I had the exact same situation. First AC game that got me hooked. Played through all of them until Origins. That’s why Syndicate has a special place in my heart. Sadly, the franchise has fallen now and I have moved on 😪

Your first love will always be there forever. I played AC 2 in 2009 when i was 21 and it has been my favourite game. Nothing comes close to it. I feel you have the same feeling when it comes to AC Syndicate
Glad to see you recognize good in this game. I personally loved it.
Syndicate is one my favourite AC games due to its Polish and content. Everything feels smooth and fitting to the setting. Rope launcher is cool and necessary, Combat while mashy still feels great and stealth is excellent. Story is Meh but the setting and side content kept me engaged throughout the entire game.
At first, i didnt like the setting of Syndicate, it was a different take in the Assassins Creed series, but as I progressed further, i started to like the setting and the world very very much and the stealth system is also good. It started feeling a lot better and a modern Assassins Creed game but still AC at its core. It is 1000x times better than Origins.

The ac games have a lot of misconceptions by ubi
That's because Ubisoft doesn't want to acknowledge what players actually think or what the problems were. This is why they constantly change the goalposts and lie about why people had problems with the games or what they even were. Which explains why each game after Unity doesn't learn or improve on the last.

The plot is refreshing in that it’s not a revenge story and it’s not someone being inducted, Jacob and Evie grew up with Assassins, with this game being their trial by fire away from that as Assassins, individuals and siblings. Altaïr grew up with the Creed, and Ezio in Brotherhood and Revelations already had impressive feats under his belt (fist fighting the Pope anyone, and bringing down Borgia influence in Rome?), but this feels like the first time since the first game where the protagonist is someone, or two someones, who were weaned with their Assassin heritage but only in time of trial understanding it and the responsibility.
The missions With Maxwell Roth are easily one of my favorites. A great time. Honestly, he could have done a much better main villain.
Finally, someone who realises the game is not as bad as it is portrayed to be, but actually good.
As a fan of this game I am very happy to see this video and I love every part of this game I don't get the criticism for this game. But you all can have your own opinions and I respect them but everybody who has an opinion on this game respond to this with your opinion please I would like to know :)

Im with you, Ive always loved this game, among my favorite AC games
Setting was great, i loved that the world was crowded, but the AI's dialogues and patterns were not "souless" than in Unity. By the story, i would not put it in my top 5 in the AC-series. I re-played after Origins came in 2018 and still highly enjoyed it.
I _loved_ the setting in Syndicate. I've been dying for an industrial revolution AC and I really liked it in execution.
Much better than a demigod jumping from a 1000 ft and standing at it's feet, going around and saying "oh i can't stab him in the head his levelis too high"

Syndicate deserves so much more love. In my opinion it is the best AC. Love almost everything about it.
The story was not that complex, but intense. Jacob and Evie are amazing characters and the gameplay is top tier.
i loved the grappling hook. sometimes you just dont wanna constantly climb everything. it was great. i remember people bitching about it like little kids. like bruh you dont have to fucking use it if you dont want to
Exactly. It's like people don't realize that buildings in London are much taller than in Italy during the Renaissance, or the other settings. It's almost necessary in order to get around the world in this game.
Of course it was added for that reason, the main complain was that it made the parkour useless and that’s a problem when your Game used to be a parkour/stealth game. Make horses useless in a red dead game and you’ll be surprised to find that your fanbase is not happy with these changes
@@polowptn4609 but you don’t have to use it unless you want to, so essentially it makes nothing useless as you can still use the regular parkour method.

The grappling hook was cool, but i think ubisoft should let Batman have it for himself. I liked that vehicles existed in the game, i used to ride the train and see where it took me and it was so fun to explore London in a different and unique way.
The Black Box missions were also an improvement to the feature first introduced in Unity. The unique assassinations you could achieve were so much more satisfying than some of those featured in Unity. The surgical theater assassination and the train car sunroof assassination were highlights.
This is the game that got me into the series. I started with black flag. While I wasn’t over the top in love with it, I liked it enough to continue looking at other games. I somehow overlooked Unity though and ended up getting syndicate on launch day….and I loved it. Story, characters, and combat just worked for me

Now that they gave Syndicate for free, I tried it out for the first time and it feels very refreshing after playing unity a lot. One thing I think you didn't mention enough is the vehicles in this game. The Thames with all the cargo and occasional templar ships makes for a very unique location, the train base is a very interesting take on the assassin bureau and the carriages are so much fun too! Sometimes I just jump on one and start a whole GTA 5 police chase!
An other thing is the humor. I might get called a dumb human being for this, but I actually found some of Jacob's quips funny. Also some fun stuff like Mrs. Disraeli's dog being named Desmond or Shaun's beer reviews really made me crack up.
I also found the main characters being siblings a very interesting concept. I feel like Evie should have had a just a few more missions, but I think her and Jacob's dynamic was also very entertaining. I have a big brother and I've seen myself in some of those situations that they went through 😆

I do enjoy this game. I love the time period and it felt like I was there. I liked the historical characters we meet. I loved solving crimes. As for the twins, Evie is my favorite. I have her pop. It’s nice to see the game get some love. I really enjoyed it, was worried I get hate. For me, it’s just a lot of fun.

I feel like the grappling hook improves stealth mechanics, not diminish them. You can design your strategies around it, adds some verticality to stealth and using it to sneak around undetected or scout the surroundings is pretty cool
At release on pc I was totally satisfied have bought it on Steam as Gold Edition as it was technically almost perfect from the beginning in comparison with Unity and in these times I loved Syndicate much more than Unity which had and more problems technically and bugs ......nowadays I returned to Unity too and I love it too....for me both are the best experience in the whole franchise IMHO
Those 30fps Cape animations are abysmal. U can fix them easily tho.
I loved this game, hands down and a lot of it definitely had to do with the setting and I actually did love the Twins. I'm a bit biased though because I love Victorian Era as a setting so any chance that AC went to this setting was likely going to get my approval. And the Twins were the other selling point bc up until this point, it was only ever the 1 assassin and the chance to play a male and female I thought was a nice change and the characters may not be everyone's favorite but you definitely don't forget them. The Frye Twins...This was also a nice change from the always doom and gloom and war settings. It wasn't since Black Flag where this atmosphere was lighter and it was nice considering that this time period was actually quite dark. Give it a shot if you just want a break from the other games bc MOST people actually did think it was FUN.
I will never understand the hate this game gets. It is EASILY in my top three AC games. Honestly, I might even put it in first place. Love every single thing about it.

Syndicate is actually good but the only things I hate is the combat and the Ending
I dont mind the combat, and I agree the ending was terrible, not story wise, but gameplay wise

I am started this game after watching 2 seasons of Peaky Blinders. So far enjoying it. Atmosphere is similar even tho set 50 some years apart. like the gang takeover aspect although repetitive. Enjoying my time getting back into the pre-origins AC gameplay!
They literally could have made the Assassins Brotherhood Anarchist Syndicalists with this one. The Setting and Premise was there but yeah maybe the higher ups in Ubisoft had some "concerns" about that...
Jacob in Jack The Ripper DLC has so much potential he became a serious guy and I want to know his story in India. But I don't know Ubi$oft always waste potential from latest AC games like Arno too he needs sequel also Edward and Bayek

My second favourite AC besides Unity for a ton of reasons but it’s definitely a missed opportunity with what could’ve potentially been the darkest, grittiest, most grunge story and setting in AC history!
Thank for the videos always like to watch them. Now my opinion with AC Syndicate is a little mixed, on one part I love the open world and the traversal options.
But I hate the dumbed down parkour mechanics (the game controls most your options) so you don't much free choice with the free-movement options (lol).
Plus when it comes to combat it is fun for the first 3 - 6 hours (maybe less) but after that it just starts to look ridiculous cause of how many time you punch, cut and stab the enemy AI before it goes down (this does not change that much even at higher levels).
But my greatest problem with syndicate is the rope lunch, but not for the reason some may think. Adding the rope lunch was a great idea for the game and time period it matches the little steam punch feel of the game.
But the problem is this how it works and how it can just kill any momentum you have run on roof tops. I would have liked to be able to jump off the roof of a build then use the rope lunch to swing myself to the next building.
Plus I would abseil with the abseiling mechanic, so ya its a good that needs more love but not just from fans but from Ubisoft too.
The game ha great potential but they did not give it enough time to develop before releasing it.
MasterAssassin in one of you pervious videos you said the AC Unity the reason we have the current RPG AC Game, yes that true but its also Syndicate fault in my opinion cause Ubisoft could have save themselves if they had just put more time and investment into Syndicate things my just be a little different.(I don't know)
ps. the game does not allow you to make riskily jumps off buildings(LOL) (please just kill me now)

I really like the assassination challenge. Like you have your target and different objective to achieve to get near of your target. The result of all the objective with a kill animation, thats a great reward.
assassins creed 2 had ezio riding the horse cart through the mountains,syndicate gave back abit of vibe from that.
the treasure maps available at vendors, also been missing from other games.
the river missions were really good.. and the boat traffic on the river is nuts.. its very cool

I recently bought an Xbox Series X and got my old save from when I first bought Syndicate at launch on XBO. And I’m starting to remember how much I freakin LOVED this game. Honestly one of my top 3

Grappling hook reminds me about batman Arkham games
they could show the master assassin ceremony, because they become masters in the middle of the game
And some consequences for acting without the mentor knowing but I think that after Arno, it's not as judicious depending on the reason
Best side content in any AC game, and I will die on that hill. It was everything great about Brotherhood’s side content but just more of it and a greater variety. For me, the quality of the side content is what determines how good an AC game is. The story missions themselves in all the games are all fairly similar from one game to the next, but when I’ve got great side content that doesn’t feel like a big checklist and I love doing, that takes the game over the top for me.

Ok dude, I'm really enjoying the London location in Syndicate as I'm from the top of England, but visited London about 6 or 7 times now, and its great to see the tourist destinations like Big Ben.and Buckingham Palace etc, as ran past them twice doing the London Marathon a few yrs back. 😃 🏃♂️
The games no perfect, but fun, I think the setting is just spectacular to look at at times 👌

Something else about this game is that I’m pretty sure it’s one of, if not the only, AC game where none of the protagonists or their allies die.
Just picked up the Gold Edition of Syndicate! Got it for $13 so it should be of great value!! Can't wait to play as Jack!

what i didnt like about the stealth was that the kidnapping system was very bad in the pc version because since i wasnt on a control the ring would be very big even when walking slowly

Over the years I changed my opinion about AC series for the better. I'm now more open minded to appreciate it more. Some of them are good but not bad. Some of them are just insanely amazing like Origins (By far my favorite AC game)
I just loved this game bcs it was set in London, let it alone Victorian London. Living in London at the same time, it felt like a grand walk through history. Climbing St Paul's and Big Ben.
I just wish the grappling hook would give some kind of boost when climbing. Just like the hook blade from AC Revelations. It made the parkour irrelevant seeing that with one press of a button really takes away the parkour

@@1607Adi_Manz yeh I can do that but the problem would be the long session of climbing which wouldn't have any momentum. And the world of Syndicate relies heavily on the grappling hook so that's why parkour is a pain here.
You should disable the cloth physics fps lock. Makes their robes flow so much better. You just gotta add a line to the cfg file IIRC. Look it up!
well syndicate was the fisrt ever ac game i played myself (i had played some oddyssey at my friends has. But when i got syndicate i quite enjoyed it. Well as i said it was the first ac game i played so i was pretty amazed at that time
I have recently bought Syndicate after years of not playing any of the AC games (Black Flag was the last one I played) and I gotta say I agree with everything you say in this video. I had some preconceptions about this game knowing that it was hated by fans. I ended up loving it, especially the stealth. Sure, we had better games from this series,but Syndicate is not a bad game,far from it.
My problem with the grapling hook is that you absolutely do need it to traverse the map. The created a map that wasn't fit for good parkour and their solution was getting rid of the parkour.
On the contrary, i think the stealth was a massive improvement over Unity. The enemies feel more smarther, they don't automatically detect anymore and the cover system feels more responsive. The kidnapping mechanic was a welcome addition.
Also, just on a general vibe, the game feels less bloated with content than Unity.
Personally? I like to sorta mix-n-match certain outfits/accessories/gauntlets amongst the Frye Twins.
Evie's base outfit looks great, either in Fuchsia or Steel Gray, with various capes such as the Eagle Dive, Killer Lace, Emerald Isle, or Legendary Assassin Capes. Also, the Cloaking Cloak of course. Her Master Assassin look is great too in Green, Forest Green, or Steel Gray. For her gauntlets, at first, the Redback because it suits her so well. Even the Black Leather and Assassin gauntlets are great for her too. But of course, Legendary Assassin cape & gauntlet for much later on in the game. If I wanna have Evie rock her steampunk garments and cloak from Dr. Daniel? The Nautilus gauntlet goes well with it still being very steampunk but more refined, like Evie herself!
For Jacob, his base outfit and Outdoorsman outfits are both good, especially when they're colored Green; a nice reference or maybe homage to Sir Henry Green/Jayadeep Mir aka, 'Greenie' (Jacob's nickname for his would-be brother-in-law). The green choice not only is a nice homage but also firmly places Jacob with the Rooks, his base outfit with the Dark Leather belt and Industrial gauntlet clearly show him as a common, unassuming factory worker & gang member with a workman's glove while his Outdoorsman coat lets Jacob showoff that he is the Leader of the East End Rooks, along with the Belt of Good & Evil, Beer Collector and/or Eagle Dive belts and the Black Leather gauntlet help him blend into the more Upper-class parts of London. Also, Jacob's Master Assassin coat/robes along with his nicer formerly mentioned belts and the Legendary Assassin gauntlet of course mark the level of mastery he would attain later in his life. If I want him to have fun, his Steampunk garments, Fisticuffing belt, the Chronographic Piercer gauntlet, and the Wallop Enhancer too since Jacob loves and prefers knuckle dusters (provided by the very eccentric but brilliant, Dr. Daniel).
PS: Of course, both Assassins wield certain melee weapons and firearms but that's all for another discussion.

Syndicate is my favourite game across all games, I have loved the game long time before I had PC to play it, and I love London, also Jacob is probably my favourite game character...
I think that Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is the Episode VIII of the franchise: The previous installment (while not as good as some of the older originals) did bring new characters and shiny new effects to the table. Although it was flawed, people still had a fun time with it and were eager to see what would come next. Then the sequel. Fans tore apart the trailer. It looked to be deep, dark, and cool. They had been waiting and they were ready. The end result: a disaster. This was a chance to breathe new life into a franchise people already liked. Instead, it sucked the air out of it and the franchise began to suffocate and eventually die. It COULD have been good had some changes been made. But as it is, the goofy characters, the woke undertone, and the dumb choices left it in shambles. Not the absolute worst, but not good either. There is fun to be had, but overall, it will eventually be left and forgotten.

I think Crawford Sterrick. while underused and is the ultimate templar. He believes in order and peace through said order but, most importantly, he has to be the one in chase of that order. Yes there have been templars who have been more compelling characters, like Haytham, but to do so they had to be templar-lite. he's the perfect embodiment of the type of Templar the Assassin's are trying to fight against.
This can be said for pretty much every ubisoft game they nail the setting but fail in the story and actual gameplay.
Syndicate feels like the least talked main installment of the franchise. It had amazing gameplay mechanics.

Syndicate is my 4th favorite game in the franchise
Im currently playing assisins creed syndicate, I like the modern London open world, during the industrial revolution. I like the fact that you can choose between 2 characters to play the game, I like the skills and combat. I just think the story was a bit generic
i feel life if this version of the grappling hook is implemented because of the setting, then this version of london never even shouldve been considered
I watch so many of these video essays on video games and when I watch these ones that don’t scold the game for every little flaw and when I play the game I always love it. People just have too high expectations for games, if you don’t like the game don’t buy it.

aah, Finally someone who appreciates their assassin robes.... cz I think they are great ... would be a lil more cool if the the hood was not restricted to crouch only, more of a toggle on or off.... but I'll take it.
I can tell you why phantom blade was not in syndicate according to hidden blade lore some cultures of assassins have there own kind of hidden blades Chinese have the pivot blade which also Connor had and the phantom blade for the French assassins evie and Jacob are in the British assassins

I think throwing knives are batter than phantom blade because...
1. Unlike phantom blade you don't need to reload for throwing knives, meaning you can throw knives one after another almost instantly.
2. You can throw 3 knives at 3 different targets at a time like ezio (although you can't do that in AC syndicate)
This is personally my favourite ac game it had the best combat stealth guns and the parkour was fun
Adding the grappling hook was smart and I hate the hood only on when u in stealth
I love the stealth system in syndicate
