Wonderful video! I am 73 and have been painting for about 10 years. Recently, I have been drawn to more abstract work as I’m getting bored with traditional looking paintings. I love the graphic style that you embrace and this video was perfectly edited and very well done and enjoyable to watch! I have subscribed and look forward to seeing all your videos.
Im completely obsessed with learning from you, no one shows such respect and understanding of the creative mind, the process is everything. I am enjoying the process so much thank you x
Good morning from Portugal. I would like to thank you for your worderful videos. They a are such a refreshing king of presentation. You are straight to the point, objective and left your ego out if the room. Love to learn from you. 🙏😁
I am always so excited when I find a new video by you. Everything you do and say is always exactly what I need to hear and see. I love your style and your unique and authentic expression LOVE IT and you are a font of wisdom and you think of every little detail to tell us. Your manner is one of strength and yet care as well. Thank you. ❤
I think that to be a great abstract painter requires more than slapdash painting application. You put so much thought and work into the composition and colors which result in paintings that clearly demonstrate how difficult it is to get great abstract paintings. Thank you.
You have taught me so much. I light up when you come up on my suggestions. I've been off work ill for a month now and have not been well enough to do anything. But when l feel up to it, I'm going to try painting like you. 😊❤
I have never had an art class in my life and now that I’m nearly old 😊, I have the urge to do something creative. Your videos are inspiring and I absolutely love your art. Thank you so very much.
When you changed the color of the 'sky' I was reminded of something the interior designers say. It's only paint, you can always paint over it. And you were right. I will endeavor to be bold. Thank you Sir.
Great video as always, thank you - it’s always good to see a new one appear. 🙏 I learned a lot about composition…but, as they say, rules are made to be broken! The colour mixing was useful too as it’s a constant fascination and opportunity to learn. Wonderful waves! Again, a constant source of wonder.
Once again, another very engaging vlog capped off by your beautifu painting. I really value the information you share and your approach to your practices. Johannes Itten was a fabulously talented teacher, so glad to see that you referenced his work.
I loved watching how this painting evolved from a loose start! Wonderful to watch. You have me re considering trying acrylics again some day. It would be a big change from oil paints for me.
Thank you for your comment. I have chosen to paint with acrylic because I don't get a headache from the smell. I don't believe that acrylic is better than oil, but it is of course different, and not least faster to dry. But it's not better, so if you're into oil, I'd just stick with it. Good luck to you with your process.
@@skora-theoldguy I pulled out some old acrylic paints I tried years ago. Still sensitive to their smell. I was hoping to use them to try out ideas and expand my comfort zone to larger size, so may try with exhaust fans running and a mask. But I think overall, will stick with oils. I understand them well, whereas my knowledge of acrylics is limited. Thank you.
Henrik, you absolutely thrill me in my creative being. I love your style and method. I plan to work with some cold wax and oils to create my own style from your use of color and structure like yours. Thank you so much for sharing your time and talent with us.
Thank you for this video, and the painting, as always, is gorgeous. When mixing your colors in your little bowls, with what medium do you mix into the paint? Do you cover them so you can use them in your next session? Thank you so much.
Hi, I really only use water. Sometime I use Acrylic Glasing Liquid, but only sometimes. Water only in this painting. I stack the bowls and use an atomizer before I cover them with a plastic box ... sort of a lit. I usen for seveeral sessions.
There are no stupid questions. When you stack them, they seal each other, so the paint stays wet. Finally, I use a water atomizer and then put an inverted plastic box over the glass bowls, when I take a break. It is also an option to make a wet pallet. You can easily find out how on YT.
Hi David, I don't mix a lot of color. You can see how much is in my glass bowl. That is usually enough. That's about the equivalent of a teaspoon. Finding just the right shade if you run out of paint is of course a little tricky, but now that you only mix 2-3 colors, it can easily be done ... if you practice your eye. Remember that acrylic dry up somewhat darker than when they are wet. Also, it's only necessary if you have to cover a larger area. The small areas I paint are very well covered with a color that is "almost" right. Good luck.

Thank you for sharing your perspective on composition rules. I will quit worrying about the composition rule police breaking down my door.😂
Ha, ha ... yes. They no doubt will nock on an other door.
Thank you for the video. I’ve got a stupid question. How do you keep the paint from drying on the palette and in the glass jars?
There are no stupid questions.
When you stack them, they seal each other, so the paint stays wet. Finally, I use a water atomizer and then put an inverted plastic box over the glass bowls, when I take a break.
It is also an option to make a wet pallet. You can easily find out how on YT.
@@skora-theoldguythank you for this useful information.
How much paint of each shade do you mix up? How much do you concern yourself with mixing up more paint later, but not getting the shade exactly right?
Hi David,
I don't mix a lot of color. You can see how much is in my glass bowl. That is usually enough. That's about the equivalent of a teaspoon.

Next, will you teach us how to play piano? 😅
Ha, ha ... no ... you will have to figure that out yourself!
