On this episode of the South African version of Millionaire, we see a short clip of John Carpenter who was the first million dollar winner in the U.S. version.
Lol he called John Carpenter a "lucky contestant". Luck had nothing to do with it. He was just very knowledgeable and knew the answers to all the questions. You could make the argument that he was lucky in regards to the questions that were chosen for him, but even when he reappeared on the Champion's Edition later he won an additional $250k (not using any lifelines again until the $64k question, and even then he had an idea but just didn't want to risk getting it wrong). He also didn't want to gamble on the $500k as it was charity money, otherwise he would've gone for it and maybe answered correctly and who knows, maybe he'd have won $1 million again.
So even though 1 million rand is vastly less than both pounds and US dollars, the questions are still just as hard at each stage ? Isn't 1 million rand just 40 thousand pounds, 50 thousand dollars ?? So essentially willing the million is similar to getting to the first safety net.

I used to love South Africa until I realized the majority of you are in favor of Putin.
I don't know who hurt you but this will not ease your pain.
