When I was a teenager, I was the 10th caller in a radio station contest. The DJ said I won a copy of the Big Star album "Radio City". The station never played it on the air, so I didn't know who they were. It was probably a promotional copy and they just wanted to unload it. When I got it in the mail, I put it on my Montgomery Ward record player and liked it right away. I still have that record in my collection.
Big Star has influenced so many bands that I like, though weirdly I have never checked them out in depth. I'm going to do that soon. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for the rec on the band! I admit, I hadn't heard of Silverhead before, but just listened to some tracks on their first album and love what I'm hearing!
@@poprocksradio Oh really ? COOL ! i love turning people on to stuff they haven't heard . Michael Des Barres was the singer , he was married to Pamela Des Barres "GROUPIE EXTRODINAIRE " --- 16 and Savaged is a great album
oh, yeah! I love it when people recommend bands I have overlooked (and there are SO many). I remember Michael Des Barres from the little stint he did with The Power Station in the 80s, but I didn't know where he came from before that. Thanks for the rec on the other album, too...going to check it out!

Wow, that’s an awesome story! Even better to hear you still have it, too. Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching!
Very touching, many thanks.
I really appreciate that...thank you!

You won't be disappointed! The third album is challenging but gorgeous. The first two albums - there is really nothing like them. Thanks for watching!
Teenage Fanclub, What You Do To Me. Massive Big Star fans and great pop song.
This is a nice summation of a great band which is actually a difficult thing to do with the deep catalogue and history of Big Star. Well done!
Thanks for the kind words! Really hard to do them justice, I think. Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much...I really appreciate that!
You didn't mention Teenage Fanclub, and their song What You Do To Me. They were massive Big Star fans.
Ah! Good call. The inspiration there is unmistakable. Thanks!!
For the time they came out SILVERHEAD shoulda been bigger
