Even though this was his first show, he's still able to articulate very interesting points ten times better than 99.99 percent of all other pundits.
Ben Morris True, and I couldn’t _stand_ him back then. If you’d told me back in his playing days that I’d one day happily listen to him talk about football (or anything, really), I’d have thought you were insane.
listening to the wrong pundits mate..some very astute analysis out there theses days
@@grassrootsfootball225 Yeah, is the 0.01 percent I was talking about.
Ben Morris agreed most just give their opinion but there r a few who actually analyze the game in depth

Gary Nevil, Roy Keane and Carra practically carry Sky Sports
Tyler Windram Roy. Keane is a tinpot captain/pundit..john walters would knock him out on the spot in studio
What about school boy Hart and AirPod man Sounnes?
Not very hard to carry SKY really , Jamie Redknapp , Jim White !!!! A few people reading the papers, money for old rope ... Cant say Neville does much for me , I think people need to trust their own judgement more , football , simple game don,t really need umpteen ex pros telling you whats going on..

You should get Gary to react to his commentary on Chelsea Barcelona "He's in! Fernando Torres! OOOOOOOooooooouh"
One of the best commentary moments of all time. From the heart, and showed the madness of that game better than any rehearsed monologue could do
OoooooooOoooooooohhh unbelievable
Un..be..lievable
I hated that. Going wild over a Rentboy goal.

To be fair it’s pretty inspiring to see how he’s grown into the role
brings a tear to your eye
When I first heard he was going to be a pundit I was almost certain he would be terrible. He was Mr Man United and when you see things like him not shaking Schmeichel's hand in the tunnel; Most non-united fans thought he was a bit of a prat. But now I actually think he's very likeable, fair-minded and talks a lot of sense. I'm surprised how wrong I was about him.
@@cool10049 I'm a United fan and I wasn't convinced either as I thought he was going to be ridiculously biased. He's my favourite pundit by far though

I love Gary's punditry, he's so relatable - down to earth, honest and fair. Great insight into the game.

I'm a Liverpool fan, born in Liverpool. I love Neville's punditry. His documentary on Qtar was excellent as well.
One of the best pundits ever along with Carra. Andy Gray was pretty good too. Richard Keys was always a massive bell...
Agreed, Richard Keys was/is a prick!
Nick M the problem with the likes of Keys is they hang around with footballers for so long they start to believe they’ve been a pro and start giving their opinion. They blur lines between presenter and pundit.
@@lightningleaf23
Do you need to be a pro / ex pro to have an opinion??
Richard keys is a decent presenter in my opinion...
Wayne Catlin the presenter presents and then they should use the experts that have played the game for the expert analysis and insight. Keys was a narcosis that would criticise and stick his nose in about players having made errors. It’s ok when Neville and Carragher are critical but who is a jumped up tv presenter who played for the dog and duck.
Carra is a tier 2 level pundit. Good, but not in the same league as G Nev

Gary is an fantanstic Pundit. Straght talking and straight to the point. Will say it how it is and the truth. I also like how he doesnt overcomplicate the analysis
The first time Andy Gray has been mentioned on Sky in 9 years.
The big aul perv!
I like how they still just say "when he left" , like he wasn't booted out for absolute rubbish because of sensitive nobodies in the studio secretly recording him and keys chatting and then taking it out of context. Gary and Carra will meet the same end when sky have had enough of them.

MNF's first hour is always the highlight of my football week. It's so good that I often only turn on for that, and change channels if it's a poor game afterwards. I love Neville and Carragher as a team.
Great to see this type of thing. Gives people confidence that practice makes you better. As was said "don't worry about making mistakes" And it shows in the difference between Gary then and Gary now! Been a great 10 yrs. Thanks MNF for sharing this.
Absolutely love this. People always forget the transition of the very best. Becoming an overnight sensation takes years of hard work!
Very true re mistakes live and authenticity. Always showed the true nature of the show

Nev has become by far the best pundit on British TV for the last few years now. He knows the game inside out, speaks well and is consistent. No doubt that Sky put him in at the deep end that first year to go straight on MNF but obviously he's thrived from that experience at the start and his punditry since then has come such a long way. Him and Carra make MNF the best show on Sky as their insight and humour entertains the nation. Always worth the watch on a monday night in that first hour and before the show ends at 11. Neville has also, in that time, become the game's best co-commentator alongside Martin Tyler with his engaging voice. Very well done mate, keep it going.
Sky 3D 😂 remember when 3D was such a big thing, who would want to watch footy in 3D

I’m 7 months late to this but I thought this was a fantastic interview. I’m a huge Liverpool fan and I never thought a world would exist where I liked Gary Neville - however, what a fantastic pundit and when combined with Jamie Carragher you really see his funny side.

As a Leeds fan I hated him during his playing days but I can't deny he's a great pundit. Jamie Redknapp on the other hand.
I agree, Jamie Redknapp tangles himself up with utter nonsense and is a poor pundit. Gary Neville (whilst I couldn't stand him as a player) is knowledgeable and insightful.
Please do a segment/piece looking back at the most HEATED debates in Sky Sports History
Looking back Moyes shouldn't of been sacked. Modern football is fucked in all honesty, no room for the human error at all, and as soon as any "top6" team finishes below 4th, they're sacked. Its stupid and ridiculous.
Moyes's would've probably built a top team there.
As man city fan ,couldn't agree more
He's no Cafu however he was a brilliant right back!!!!
Why do you have to compare gary Neville with other players. He was a brilliant right back end of!!
He won more league titles than cafu though, Cafu played for AC Milan for 5 years which is a top team, Neville played for United for more than 10+ years
@@thesexyboi Alright ,but please don't say ur trying to prove that Neville is better
@@user-fy1eg2mf8h lol dont think that brah, obviously Cafu was better but winning more does mean something. Gary was like a Philip Lahm, Lahm i think was better but Phil was just solid all around. Both had the same drive and energy
m nooo Cafu was better, he won World Cup twice with an awesome Brazilian team, but Gary Neville was a top top right back, and could say he had a better career than Cafu but if I was on football manager I would choose cafu right back all day long and roberto Carlos over Ashley Cole as well
Was never a big G. Neville fan, but has done a great job at Sky. Neville and Carra together at Sky Sports. Never saw it coming, never thought it would work, but I could not think of a better 2, than those commenting on Sky Sports and having their little digs at each other... The bit where Gary stumbles over making a joke to Mancini, is like the equivalent to Harry Maguire trying to do step overs.
Probably England’s greatest footballer. Never gets the credit he deserves for his flying runs down the wing almost like he’s skating and gliding. One of the most hard working footballers ever, i say that because really he's wasn't a world class player, but it's his hard work that made him play the way he did, he must have had to work harder than anyone, just to be able to play with that team, and he done it for many many years,
