Tip - when cutting of the lid, cut the two long sides first. Then, lower your saw blade until it's about 1.5mm lower than needed to cut the lid right off. Cut the remaining depth by hand, and clean up with a plane or chisel.
great job so far she's going to be a happy girl soon, word of advice mate when cutting the box lid off make your blade hight just shy of the thickness of the wood and then cut all four sides the lid will remain fixed to the box you can easily cut through the remaining wood with a Stanley knife the gap will be much better and very little clean up is needed
As always, a great way to spend 10 minutes in your company enjoying your fantastic creativity.
i like that you are showing mistakes and ways to fix them, that was cool, thank you
This jewellery box is going to look stunning. Great video chap
Great job , I liked the splines, a nice little addition .🖒
Doing a good job Keith, you should be in her good book's when you finish it Mate !!!.
Nice job on the partitions and the tray. One thing you didn't show was how to get the squeeze-out at the inside corners after the glue-up. I've been making some boxes and this is a part I have trouble with.
Bless you! Bless you again. loving how the box is looking, i would never have known it was pallets. Great video as always!
Cant get enough Rag 'n' Bone, whoop!
You deserve 25 million subs rag n bone brown 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great content! Thanks! If you cut of the lid, maybe it is an idea to tape over the cuts in between the cuts to prevent it from moving slighty resulting in a even cut all around the box?
Very nice , its coming along very well, looking forward on seeing the finished project.
What glue do you use and why is it in a fairy bottle?! I loved this video. I find your instructions very clear. Your narration is concise whilst remaining interesting. Good stuff!
Just ordinary pva 👍
Like the new glue bottle /washing up liquid good idea.
+Michael Evans I've just found an even better one actually, this time it's a BBQ sauce bottle with a really long screw tip spout
mate not watched you for a while but love your work and the reuse of pallet wood into some beautiful. I need to work more on my plane and chisel work and enjoyed your video cleaning and resharpening your spoke shave . sure Your girlfriend loved this jewellery box, i made my girlfriend and Sister a bath caddy from some rosewood ( i think ) that i was fortunate to get for nothing and their faces when i gave them to them was worth all the work, sanding and dust . looking forward to seeing more of your work fella
Amazing results as always.well done,mate.Cheers!!
Bless you . lol Came real nicely
Could you show us your band saw it looks a large band saw , I don't know how you fit everything in your shed .
Keep up the great videos , always look for the next one
+stuart williams hi Stuart. There's already a video of it on my channel. Search for Charnwood rag n bone and it'll probably come up first
Have I missed something? In the 1st video you made a lid, now you just cut one?
nice, loving this build!
parabéns, ficou muito bom seu trabalho!!!
Very good work !
good job I can not wait for the next video
Nice one dude, literally dropped everything to watch this!
God bless you :-)
Very well done!
Nice box 😉
Only found ur channle today watched you build ur workshop then the first two videos of the jewellery box can't weigh for part three
that's coming along brilliantly, thank you for sharing! I'm not getting one thing though, probably because I'm being daft. Instead of noting the fence position for the 2nd and 3rd spline groups, wouldn't it have made sense to do all four sides at each fence position? many thanks, Evangelos
+Xylon Guitars thanks. Yes that's what a did do. I think I confused it by editing the clips down and not showing all the cuts I made
thank you! that explains it! best wishes, Evangelos
that's really coming together. isn't the top rather tricky to get back out? nice vid mate, looking forward to seeing no. 3. thanks for sharing.
+Mark McCluney thanks. the top tray? It is at this point but in part 3 I make a little handle for it
Nice one M8
Rag 'n' Bone Brown could u show me how to build a pigeon loft
What kind of table saw blade do you use, your spline cuts are very tight
Have you ever thought of making something from scratch? Mediaeval way no screws no nails everything the way they made it?
Nice idea 👍maybe one day
Really enjoy your channel! I like how you acquire old and new tools, both electric and old-fashioned hand tools alike and gradually expand your shop and expertise as you progress in this very enjoyable hobby. All of this describes myself, although for now I have to work out of my garage. I love to make boxes too; perhaps you might like to delve into dovetail joinery, I bet you'd be good at it! Where do you live in England?
+Smashpunk7 thanks. Funnily enough I've been doing my first attempt at dovetails this week. They don't look great so far but hoping the glue will help that! I live in Norwich.
Cool, I was born in West Suffolk in Lakenheath, not far from you. Let us see your first dovetail attempt when you're finished, I'd be very interested!
Coming along nicely Kieth. Did I notice new clamps??
+Marc thanks. If you mean the bar clamps, no I've had those a while but they don't get used as much as the others
Ah, thought I hadn't seen them before. I've a few different lengths of them and they are really good. They helped me build these a few years ago which ended up in a woodworking magazine and won me a router. Anyhoo, keep up the great work my friend 👍🏼😊
