This explains perfectly why I (INTJ) am so hopeless with oral exams: I love to immerse myself into the subject, building this (almost) comprehensive web of knowledge ... however, nothing is perfect, and I might still have one or two uncertainties. Then come d-day: During the examination, instead of displaying my knowledge, I unconsciously will steer the conversation to my "open points", hoping (unconsciously) that the professor will answer those questions I could not find the answer to in the literature. Even if these turn out to be minor points, or my "discovery" of uncertainty considered a valuable insight, my nerves will be so wracked that the whole exam can turn into a total nightmare

Yeah exactly. I loved learning the grammar and vocabulary and remembered them perfectly in my language lessions. Audio exams were a bit more tricky but I could use my reasoning there, ticking off wrong alternatives one by one But when it came to that I had to react to some spoken sentences in an adequate way in Swedish, English, German, French (languages I learnt at school) I totally froze...

Same lol I avoided it for years, but once I finally implemented it, meditation truly changed my life. I meditate an hour in the morning as the first thing I do, with some deep cleansing breaths, following that with some journaling and it sets my day up for being more connected to myself, focused and present.

Being an INTJ myself, I totally understand. I'll struggle with something until the data all links up, and then all of a sudden the pattern falls into place and understanding is gained all at once. I've experienced this most recently when trying to learn Japanese. I was struggling with sentence structure and meaning, but then the patterns clicked and it is now far easier to understand. Well, I can read it far easier at least.

I experienced a very similar thing while learning Korean. Asian languages in general are just so different from European languages that I rely a lot on intuition to make sense of what I'm reading. Exposing myself for a long time to Korean content generally does the trick, as I absorb a lot of patterns for Ni to make sense of in the background; and after some time, it all falls into place and everything lights up. I, of course, went through some grammar lessons, but there had been some grammar points that I never researched and just grasped intuitively. It's weird but also incredibly satisfying.

INFJ. Can confirm. My focus is on the voids (what's missing). I think this is Ne-Nemesis as well. It's not so much that I see the "picture" is complete...but that I can tell when it is incomplete, and that incompleteness is a source of annoyance. So I am motivated to expose the voids and see what's there.

As a product manager often making negotiations and bringing ideas to table I need to make sure my emails are well written so the other party cannot find any hole to be used against me and company I work for. It's a big responsibility so I, INTJ being INTJ often spend a lot of time reading my emails over and over so there is NO information missing. It's very exhausting, I can tell you, but def rings the bell. Se drains me unless I use it to indulge my Fi. As an Ni dom (from the fj department, what a complicated way to say Infj weird me), not having enough opportunities everyday to have that going in the first place, finding yourself interupted every 5 minutes either because of the Fe or Se components is quite difficult.
And don't get me wrong Fe in nice proportions is just a fabulous thing as it provides me with this sense of being connected to the human species sometimes and not 100% like I'm from Venus or some shit.
And Se when under control and not overindulged is good, it's enjoying good fabrics, nice material, tasty food with care. But too much of those two things is easily the worst thing. It's having to feel people's feelings when they're too heavy to bare and feeling depressed by it. It's being stressed by constant noise pollution, I've got headphones thank god.
Going on walks has been a blessing for me to have that Ni process going as it pleases while also allowing Se to take in the world with environnement that it likes : Nature, the beach, longues promenades.

Also... Please research 'narcissitic personality disorder' (NPD) / 'cluster-B'; and know that they are the 'root of all evil' (especially 'ESFJ/ESTJ-narcissits'; Myers-Briggs reference, look it up)!
European 'ESFJ' are the worst personality type, and they are responsible for inventing 'racism' and colonization! It is in their neuro-psychology!!
The are extremely 'manipulative' and often use 'looking pretty' to distract others from the witch's mind-games / mind-rape, e.g. gaslighting, playing the victim or damsel in distress, creating 'flying-monkeys', and paying others to attack (or at times kill) someone for her. When caught, she will use her minions as scapegoats. European ESFJ are notorious for this especially in a racist context, e.g. Elliott Till.
ISFP (and ESFP) are the most complicit, narcissitic-enablers. ISFP also tend to be 'oblivious-codependants' (look up the definition).

I'm an INTJ going through a divorce right now... My brain has been running at 200% trying to obsessively figure out the "why". I know there isn't a simple answer to it, but it's like a tic that takes over and I throw myself into trying to find an answer at the expense of everything else. It's disruptive and painful and I don't want to keep doing it because nothing of value comes out of it. Exercise, yoga, going outside, anything that distracts my brain from thinking has indeed been helpful.

INFJ here. I'm curious. When you're stepping into something completely new to learn, do you go right to the end of the book, so to speak, to first get a strong/deep understanding of the point of it, its logic and patterns, and then work backward identifying and assembling all the smaller pieces? Because you can see how they all fit together, often times resulting in a different structure, another, often improved way of accomplishing the point? I can't do the "oh, don't worry about understanding what you are being asked to do right now. Just commit it to memory and you'll understand later." I can't do that, in part because I have a rote memory deficiency, but even more so because I NEED to see the big picture in detail, first.
For me, learning to do social work is a good example. It wasn't enough to say at the start, that you're here to do good for people and this is what you do, little by little, building toward something bigger and grander. I needed to understand, foremost, what this "doing good" thing looks like. What are the patterns and logic that give this behemoth of an edifice structure and substance? And does it make sense? As an aside, I quickly learned it doesn't. Sentiments weave together to form a narrative that is independent of critical thinking, logic, and reason. It all starts with the feel, who controls that feel, and then builds from there. And it is usually corrupted because of this.
But mostly, they want to teach (indoctrinate) you to do A, B, C, D, etc... You're not supposed to jump to the end first, and build backward to create something that is actually consistent with the ideal or stated intent. Sorry, that's a tangent, but you get the idea, I hope.
One other general thing I've sussed out from this and other vids of yours. Just about all of my friends are extroverted sensors. I've come to realize it is at least in part because they do much of the sensing work that I otherwise dread doing. For the things that grab my interest, they are a conduit for the sensing, and a partial remedy for that "missing part" you speak of(I think). They also talk a lot allowing me to quietly imbibe and process, which I like.

Absolutely spot on except for the two things in my 2nd paragraph. Also, literally all of my closest friends are extroverted sensors too, ISFPs, ISTPs, and ESTPs (except for one ISTJ whom I’m friends with because we have similar values not because of naturally clicking like the rest). In our friendship groups there are several ESFPs who I’ve also grown up with, but oddly enough I’m not as close with them as the others. One of my closest friends is ISFP MF. Fi masculine is pleasing to me in any relationship. Se masculine is something we both share.
The only caveat is the “it all starts the feel” and the “they talk a lot and I’m quiet”. I’m also the talkative one, in the sense that the idiot that is me is unfortunately the one who is responsible for explaining things lol. I wonder if this is also simply just Fe/Te?

@@cczz2172 When I said "It all starts with the feel", I was referring to the world that is social work, not me personally. For me, the feel has to be filtered through reason, logic, and critical thinking in general, before it ever sees the light of day. I think the difference in your second point could likely be down to personality type. If I understand you INTJs, you are strongly inclined to confront whatever inconsistency is placed in front of you? It's difficult for you to lay off it. Whereas we INFJs are more inclined to just roll with the inanity at hand. Or maybe casually point out an inconsistency here or there purely out of curiosity for what that may further reveal of said friend's personal logic or reasoning. But cool, thanks for sharing about your inclination toward S friends, as well.

Want a stress headache? Grind on that last few percent for a few hours. I realized that if you have 90 or 95% done you are far more likely to have at least a ‘good’ answer than anyone around you. That last few % is likely made up of undefined and ill-defined things, emotions, etc. that only lock in the moment the solution is applied. Grounding the solution in reality with sprinkles of realtime external input is an absolute necessity or else like the scene from a Beautiful Mind in which the main character builds a wonderful connection of strings between pictures, places and things with string knowing he’s ‘solved it’ but actually it’s just a cow turd.

I don’t think you are describing simply Ni. You sound like you are describing Ni Ti loop that can’t solve the puzzle because it is missing information and needs to take a minute to get out of its head and go do something. Go Se around.

    • @cczz2172

How would you describe Ni and differentiate it from what LiJo said?

    • @saraschemmel
      @saraschemmel 2 роки тому +1

@@cczz2172 The biggest aspect of Ni is statistical learning in perception with the use of convergent thinking. Ni and Si both store long-term memory in the hippocampus. Si encodes and recalls episodic and semantic memories which encodes and recalls specific details of individual experiences. Where as, Ni's statistical learning refers to extracting what is common across multiple experiences. "Memory is typically thought of as enabling reminiscence and past experiences. However, memory also informs and guides processing of future experiences...The more the hippocampus predicted the category of an upcoming item, the worse the current item was encoded...Episodic memory allows for vivid recollection and nostalgia about past events, whereas statistical learning leads to more generalized knowledge that affords predictions about new situations." (Statistical Prediction of the Future Impairs Episodic Encoding of the Present) This is why Ni and Si are in direct opposition depending on the stack. The higher the Ni the lower the Si and vice versa.
"Statistical learning refers to an unconscious (passive) cognitive process in which repeated patterns, or regularities, are extracted from sensory environment." (Statistical Learning and Its Consequences)
Ti is a priori. Meaning you do not need experience to gain the knowledge. Once the concept is known it can be understood. Such as 2+2=4 or all triangles have three sides. These are conceptual truths that are based on language and mathematics. Ti utilizes reflective thinking. It reflects upon the information they have and what they still need to obtain and help them find ways to reduce the gap, as well as it takes in the bigger picture and understands the consequences through conditional thinking (cause and effect, if then statements). Ti is also using deductive reasoning to determine if something is valid. All of these things will help with the analysis, categorizing, clarifying, naming, and understanding through an objective logical framework.
The Ni-Ti loop is statistical learning and an objective logical framework to reach a single conclusion or our aha moment. The problem is when we get stuck in analysis paralysis and we can't close the loop because we are missing information, have wrong information, or have conflicting information. This is when we need to get outside of our head and go Se around, as Ni is 100% dependent upon our Se function. And Ti only knows what it has learned, but once a conceptual truth is known, it can be understood without any experience or sense data. So Ti needs to expand on it's language and mathematics and other types of conceptual truths to gain more knowledge.

I was caught in an Ni loop Sunday. Was trying to get how to setup tile sets in a tool I use.
It wasn't making any sense as the bitmasks were all correctly set with all conditions covered with which tile should appear...
Spent 13h researching the code to get why some combinations create gaps, and why there wasn't any possible combination for usage with multiple sets...
Until I figured that we can separate tiles in "layers" in which different sets can have the same bitmask and we sort them out by priority that we can set separated by tiles individually.
13h, non stop. No sleep. No food.
It's...insane how much you can put your Se to the side when you get caught in an Ni loop.
I'm an entj, so I usually like to take care of myself, my house, and stuff.
But this happened in a Sunday when I usually clean my house. And when it ended at Monday...when I saw the entropy taking over my house I was like "how the f*??"

The endless search for that illusive missing piece, the kernel of truth in the shimmering sands. The fear that the work could be all for naught whilst the little things that truly matter on a personal level slip us by... Risk vs reward. I must honestly say I felt a sense of relief of the burden with the prospect of taking a break in the beauty outside. I literally sighed peacefully at your suggestion of taking a break 😅 I did take break today, for at least half an hour. "Well that was fun. Now back to it... **groan**" 🙃 Thank you 😊
Edit: The search itself can be rewarding as well as frustrating. If obsession resembles possession, then perhaps a breather is then called for.

Too many rocks to flip over, but not enough time in the day. Then we become sad. Then, angry at everyone who takes our attention away from rock flipping. It really is a problem.

Whereas Ni users always try to fill in the missing pieces of information in their web of information, Ne users always try to keep on expanding/growing their web (despite small missing pieces of information in the center of their web). It seems like Ne users are always on the lookout to expand their knowledge and go to terra incognito/unknown lands, because focusing on the center of their web of knowledge is pretty boring and not exciting. Their minds are always living on the edges/fringes, whereas Ni users are always living at the center. (everything figuratively of course)

I passively create a 3 dimensional holographic world in my head so that I can navigate with my eyes closed. The way I understand it, my Se passively collects sensory data and my Ni creates a substrate or synthetic version of the thing or collection of things. I switch between (and overlap) both of my external and inner perceptions. Sometimes my inner perceptions are more clear and detailed than what is right in front of me, then my eyes focus and the real world becomes more detailed. It could be described as filters. Ti is usually the function in the basement sorting between Se and Ni, either checking the accuracy of Ni, or filling in missing pieces. I agree to your advice at the end. It's best to get outside and have experiences that better feed your Ni. My life goes in cycles of hard work on projects in my "basement" to then going on an adventure. I've learned to accept this duality and ride the waves. - ISTP

Ni attacked to Se, so what do you searching actually it must be in reality itself. Then my question, what will happen if your reality that attached to your Ni is gone? You want to search it but you can't do that.

Ni doms are very sensitive (literally. All introverted functions are sensitive) to impact, influence. So we will sense the influence on something, because it will behave in unknown manner, but we will not know, what caused it. From there comes the sense of missing information. Just like when you take clothes out from washing machine, and everything is red. You will understand, that something had to color it that way, but what is it. Where actually is that thing and what are its material properties. Ni dom will be able to describe what is he looks for in broad sense and where it must be. Other people will not have the same sense of missing information, because they are not aware of change in impact on something in the first place.

Good points LiJo! You nailed it when you said it's all in your heads. Ni users really engage with their intuitive perceptions as if they were actually real. It's kinda difficult for me to understand this, being an ESFJ and not using much intuition (and when I do, it's Ne lol), but I really want to, since my main driving process is better understanding people, which will lead to more harmonious relationships 🥰 thanks a lot for the input.
