I really love this plane. For a novice, this was a good step up for me. Very smooth flying plane and great to watch before sunset with the lights. I highly recommend it even if you are a nervous flyer like me. Yes, watch your landings. I have bent the gear too very easily. I ordered a second set just in case. Great looking detailed plane too.

I'm planning to buy this plane! I'm 4 months into the hobby and progressing surprisingly well for a retired truck driver lol. I recently bought the eflight commander and didn't realize that wheel pants and grass don't mix. Do you have any experience with wheel pants on grass? Do you think I should consider leaving them off and possibly installing a bit larger dubro wheels?

I am trying to set up the Skies for the Air Tractor but the directions given in the manual are few skinny. The big question is how is the spring suppose to be mounted?
Nice mains only greasers! Have to nail airspeed to not bounce 3pointer I’ve found. Mine however will drop (stall) the left wing abruptly and enter a 2 1/2 rotations spin when angered. Have you encountered stall issues? None of my other models stall like this. (PT-17,Aero Scout,Radian,Maule).
I flew years ago and am looking to get back into it. Would you consider this an intermediate plane or possibly a beginner plane? I primarily flew 4 ch. but had some time with flaps.

Nice video, I just got an Airtrctor. I'm curious as in how you set up your travel in the way of numbers? Mine feels like it's soft and lethargic, not at all that snappy like what I'm seeing here. It is set up by the manual. All though I do fly it in safe mode for the time being. So is that the issue? How does yours fly in safe mode?
I moved the linkage to the INNER hole of the ELEVATOR horn for more travel. Also, when you trim the plane in level flight, be sure to leave it HANDS OFF for 3 seconds so the servos can reset their center point.

Gear is poorly designed. Eventually the brass axle snaps off and sends the plane into a cartwheel. Found comparable size carbon fiber option on ebay + SS axles. Flying it daily for about a week and it's brilliant! This plane is awesome fun!
Great video Rich. I would love to get this since I worked on a real one, but I'm scared to buy anything from horizon anymore because they discontinue all the good stuff so fast. When I was finally able to get the night version of this awhile back, it was discontinued... I love your videos though great work..

This hobby sucks because not one manufacturer can make a decent landing gear. They all bend break loosen and get twisted. They use springs that don't match the plane. I think horizon makes all planes with weak gear so people have to spend money on parts that have been margins.
The gear on this plane could be better, but it does get the job done! I plowed it in the ground pretty good and it absorbed the impact well... it was an easy bend back!

If someone only flew jets and wants a first sporty tail dragger, would this be the best choice? Or would you recommend the RV-7 over this one?
I have not flown the RV-7 yet:( there's lots of sports tail daggers out there!

is the prop already balanced at the factory?
It should be but with all props if it's not balanced you do need to balance it.
