Well it is the rainy season here in the Pacific Northwest and it always makes me want to hear "The Rain Song". Led Zeppelin wrote because George Harrison said their problem was they didn't do any ballads.
Originally written by blues legend Willie Dixon, the song was also covered by The Jeff Beck Group, with Rod Stewart on vocals. Definitely worth a listen.
@@garyarnett1220 Loggins & Messina did that on "Pathway to Glory", except that they went from oboe to harmonica to violin to guitar so smoothly that you can't even tell where it switched. I had to listen a few times to find the junctions.
Yes. Robert Plant has an extraordinary voice. No doubt about that. And he is my favourite too. It was a band of high quality performers. JPJ's arrangements were genius.
Plant said a couple of years ago when he hears this 1st album, he felt he "overcooked" his vocals, and wished he had done a little more "shutting the f up" lol
Robert Plant - vocals John Paul Jones- bass and keyboard Jimmy Page - guitar John Bonhom - Drums there's a great tribute band I've seen a few times live called Zoso they have a few vids on youtube
Wasn't hardrock a bit bluesy in the beginning? It just got a bad name due to hairmetal in the 80s 😂 Once the big record execs smell money, music genres get ridiculized for the masses... from rock to new wave, and electronic to hiphop and latin. These execs never fail to ruin a genre with their greedyness 😢
This song is one of my favorite ones. Bluesy with John Paul Jones rocking the keyboard and Plant rocking the harmonica. The vocals and guitar in sync is amazing. Love Zeppelin
Absolutely every member shines on this track while still being a cohesive unstoppable force together, THAT is the awesome power of Led Zeppelin! Great reaction, you guys! :)
Oh my God, one of the most killer guitar blues and another All Time Classic from the debut album, so glad to see you guys trying it!. Another in the same vein from that album is I Can't Quit You Baby, more heavy blues from that best at it, Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
Your Grandkids know that Valerieeeee? Haha. I was born in 75 but aren't we glad we didn't have cell phone cameras when we all grew up?🤣 Love your story!!
Any time you hear them Keyboards 🎹 in a ZEPPELIN Tune, it's always Legendary Bassist John Paul Jones! And when you hear vocals, and Guitar going Back, & Fourth like this, it's referred to as,Call, & Response! 🎶 LED ZEPPELIN may not have invented it . But they Perfected it!
They said one of the reasons they KNEW they really had something fantastic as a band was in their first rehearsal is when they Plant first sang note for note with Page's guitar
It's a great song. Mostly I hear it as the lead in to Dazed and Confused, which takes things up a notch. Always great to see you both! I can remember when you had 10K subscribers, really nice to see your channel grow so well! Cheers! JW
It is incredible how steeped in blues this band is. Definitely my favorite rock band of all time, the Beatles in a whole different category. Amber, I am with you on John Bohnam he does the work of two drummers.
Hard to believe you haven’t reacted to ‘In My Time of Dying’ by LZ from their Physical Graffiti album. It’s a 1920’s gospel/blues song that the band does in their heavy blues style. Bonham’s drums are some of his heaviest with band. If you do check it out let it play ALL the way to the end and you’ll hear a funny surprise ending of what occurred in the actual studio recording of this song. 😉
JPJ was the unassuming, multi talented quiet, guy who watched over the three incredible performers and musicians (including Plant’s voice) allowing them to display their talents until they needed to come back to earth! JPJ was the glue that held Led Zeppelin together as well as being massively underrated for his own Brilliance and versatility!
Led Zeppelin - The Rover Led Zeppelin - Achilles Last Stand Robert Plant & Allison Krause - Killing the Blues Robert Plant - Big Log Robert Plant - In the mood
Zeppelin did go a number of cover blues songs. This one is an old Muddy Waters cover. On one bootleg recording they covered Fat's Domino "Blueberry Hill"
A couple of years ago you'd have said, "Led Zeppelin? Who the heck is that?" Now look atcha! Groovin' to rock made 20 years before you were born. Cheers....
So many of the UK artists of that era did the Blues genre. Fleetwood Mac (before Stevie & Lindsey era), Led Zeppelin, Rod Stewart, Rolling Stones, just to name a few.
None better, you can never go wrong with Led Zeppelin. Both Robert Plant and Jimmy Page have stated their favorite band was Little Feat. worth a listen!!!!
There's a video from some years ago of Robert Plant in a music store where he's noodling an acoustic and chatting with someone when he casually says "I was in a band called Led Zeppelin" as if the guy had no idea who he was. Cracks me up.
I grew up on the Beatles, my favorite band of all time. But Zeppelin rolled in at the end of the Beatles and just took over. The greatest Rock & Roll band of all time, without a doubt.
It’s amazing that John Paul Jones was in such a high profile band for over a decade with staying power for decades after that and he’s still mostly an unknown entity.
JPJ sooo good on keyboards bass organ etc!! Really underrated! But, they are all sooo good! They do the blues really hypnotically! LOVE ZEPPELIN ❤️❤️❤️❤️
This made me so happy. Can I give 10 thumbs up? I've been wanting you to react to this song for awhile. I'm sure I have suggested it at least once or twice. What I have always loved about this song is the instrumentals. John Paul Jones on organ, followed by Plant on harmonica, and then Jimmy page on guitar back to back to back. Throw in Plant's vocal gymnastics, Bonham's steady drums, and that cool echo effect that gives a haunting feel to the song and you just can't help but love every second of it. A fun song you haven't tried from them yet is Custard Pie. Jimmy has some cool guitar effects and Plant tears it up on harmonica.
Jay & Amber, you'd love Robert Cray's “Right Next Door (Because Of Me)"!!! An outstanding singer/guitarist up there with BB King and SRV!! Y’all loved his “Smoking Gun”!!! He did an album, ‘Showdown’, with Blues greats Albert Collins and Johnny Copeland!!
They went deep into the black churches down here in Georgia for that one but on the other hand its great baby makin music as well! Zepplin has always been my favorite band & GO DAWGS - WOOF✌💖☮
You would be blown away by a cover of Led Zeppelin's "Black Dog" by John Farnham. It was used as a vocal warm up before his shows. Incredible to listen to.
Have you listened to DAZED AND CONFUSED? It’s a must Zep song. Cmon let the LED out! 🙏 I saw hem live back in the day at Madison Square Garden in NYC and at Nassau Colliseum on Long Island back to back to back. 😮
Jenny, I gotta agree with you, this song is everything that defines Zep to me... It's in the top two of the greatest songs ever recorded and I can't remember what #1 is...lol..
It's such a pleasure to watch another generation appreciate the music I grew up with. Now we can look back and truly see we had the best music ever. Thank you!
Some Classic (as it gets) Led Zeppelin, right there! Still remember hearing this album at a friend's house after it came out. I was sold, and bought it as soon as I had the $! Great Choice and Great Reaction, You Guys! :)

Wow! Incredible piece of music! LZ can do almost anything. This would be one of my favorite songs by them except for the fact that it is one their first album, and everything on that album is one of my favorite songs! For something quite different from them that you would never expect I'd recomend the "Rain Song." The guitar of Page and the voice of Plant will take you to tears. I swear it. Wow! John Paul Jones on the keyboard. He is so underrated. JPJ can play ANYTHING.
And he's a great arranger.
It took page and plant about 59 people to replace him when they toured without him in the 90s
JPJ is a genius on base , keyboard and sound! Thanks for sharing your knowledge 🎉
Yes a multiinstrumentalist...pure genius
@@se7inhandyes people often forget that
Can you believe that Robert was only 20 years old when they did that? Have been listening to these guys for 40 years. So, so good!!!

Led Zep gettin all bluesy……..turn it up! ❤️🎶❤️
And Kid's that's why they are the greatest rock bend EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Originally written by blues legend Willie Dixon, the song was also covered by The Jeff Beck Group, with Rod Stewart on vocals. Definitely worth a listen.
I posted this above, but John Paul Jones played organ on Becks version.
By far the better version and recorded 6 months before this
Uh, they butchered it.
It was Muddy Waters who originally performed it.
Apparently Jeff Beck literally wept tears of anger/envy when Jimmy Page played him Zeppelin's version.
Not the first one that people normally suggest, but one of Zeppelin’s greatest tracks!!!… and one of the sickest guitar solos ever recorded!
Yes, it’s definitely in my top 3 LZ songs.
Fool in the rain has to be close to the top. It never got the respect it deserved.
any early LZ, with a heavy Blues flavor, was and is my fav..........
John Paul Jones on keys and bass.
Robert Plant on vocals and blues harp (harmonica)
John Bonham drums/ percussion
Jimmy Page on guitar and producer
The Rain Song is another one of those songs that is a must for any Led Zeppelin fan ☔️
I prefer the acoustic version
I must say I prefer the Plant/Page version but I love this song no matter which version I hear.
If you listen closely the solo seamlessly changes from an organ solo to a harmonica solo to a guitar solo
Only heard Zeppelin and Purple pull that off so seamlessly.
Yep
Good call, I never really noticed that.
@@garyarnett1220 Loggins & Messina did that on "Pathway to Glory", except that they went from oboe to harmonica to violin to guitar so smoothly that you can't even tell where it switched. I had to listen a few times to find the junctions.
Led Zeppelin were the perfect storm. Each member exceptional in their art. Best band in the history of blues/rock. ❤
The mighty Zeppelin!!!!!
One of their greatest songs...definitely shows how bluesy Led Zep could be...and Plant's voice! Holy crap, can that boy SANG!😁

This whole album might be the greatest debut album for any band ever. If I’m correct, Plant was only 19 when this was recorded.
20
Good guess anyway, he celebrated his twentieth birthday about two weeks before they started recording!
They were all so young. Explains why many of their songs were so sexual 😂
What! Y’all didn’t know Zeppelin was just as much a rock blues band as much as a hard rock band! Come on guys!!!
....and how dare they do some acoustic sounds too !!!...LOL ... they do it all very well IMO ...

That is absolutely NOT Robert Plant on the keyboard. That is none other than Zeppelin's secret weapon: John Paul Jones.
He should know that by now, after No Quarter how do you not know he is on the keys?
One of if not the most underrated musicians ever in my opinion. JPJ is a beast and a legend. ALWAYS on time.
It is Plant on the harmonica though.
The call-and-response between Plaint and Paige at the end is so iconic. Absolutely classic, strong blues!

From that amazing debut album, pure elevated blues from Led Zepp.
From their first album, this track was a BIG reason in creating the Led Zeppelin legend, they took the Blues to another stratosphere ✌️

I remember John Paul Jones saying something along the lines that you know you’re in a good group when you can slow jam together.
