Man, Part of me REALLY wants to see games inspired by Devil Survivor, or Majin Tensei 2 Spiral Nemesis! I love me some SMT/Persona inspirations! Hell even a few Devil Summoner ones (The Lost Child, Digimon Cyber Sleuth to name a few inspired by that Megaten series! I wish Atlus would love Devil Summoner properly! Making the only TRUE Sequel in that series a SMT/Persona clone and gut much of THAT series well known mechanics like the Loyalty system instead of making it work was annoying, I LIKE Soul Hackers 2, but it feels like a Sequel to SOUL HACKERS 1 SPECIFICALLY more then continuing the Devil Summoner creed! I mean I do feel I dislike everyone in your party already being aware and APART of the Secret World of Demons and the Occult where the first and second had your character more or less stumble into that life by accident, whatever it was having your soul put into an Experienced Devil Summoner and having to finish HIS mission, or accidently activating a COMP and getting dragged into that life where even if you stopped the Phantom Society, you're characters a Demon Summoner now and will never TRULY leave that life! Persona 2 showed it with Tamaki from If being a Devil Summoner under Kyoji even though she was required to surrender ALL her demons at the end of the ending you could see as If's true ending and go back to being a normal girl! At least I'll give SH 2 that it did address how HARD it is to leave that type of live with Saizo and Ash story arc) But I want some Turn Based Strategy games DAMN IT
In the last video I covered Lotus Reverie: First Nexus, which had SOME Devil Survivor inspirations, but definitely dropped the ball on the combat. As a huge fan of SRPGs myself, it's a genre I do wish I could find more of here. I think that's why I'm really psyched for Clowned King.
@@strain42 Yeah, might try Clowned King when I get the chance. Yeah I saw you're last Video! Didn't feel like Lotus Reverie felt like DS but I can see on the "Story" front it does (you're choices outside combat effecting the story and such)
One game that might count is "Kowloon's Curse" by Rem, a first-person dungeon crawler. I kickstarted the game and I know the dev briefly mentioned SMT in an update. The main inspiration is the works of Yasuyuki Ueda. The Game is not out yet, but there is a prologue call Lost Report which is really good 2-3 hour experience to check out.

Someone told me that the game I'm currently working on feels inspired by the early SMT titles. Especially the monster merging mechanic, but tbh I never played SMT so I'm not sure how much that holds true :D I definitely have to dive deeper to see if there is an accidental overlap
Yeah, I played Bloomtown when it released. To me, it was a solid good-not-great experience. It had some cool concepts and great presentation, but it just felt like there was something missing. If you're a fan on indie RPGs, you'll probably find something to like in it, but don't expect anything mindblowing, IMO. Lucah does look very cool, though. I've never heard of it before, but you've sold me on it.
I'll try Bloomtown someday for sure. The other games eh I guess Elohim Eternal does seem pretty interesting but *shrugs* Keylocker is probably a game I'd rather just watch someone else play. I still found the video a good watch though.
Yeah, of course not every game from every video is gonna be everyone's cup of tea, but that's why I like doing these. To hopefully introduce someone to a game that looks interesting to them.
I don't think Bloomtown's fixed turn order is that damning of a system- Metaphor Refantazio had the party's turn order decided by their agility score, which you can't really change aside from the MC, and that felt fine to me. I also happened to focus on agility for the MC and use slower party members so the MC was always first, which was... A blessing and a curse, at times. But the combat in Metaphor is also difficult and unpredictable, which makes the fixed turn order feel like a welcome strategic aspect.
It seems that "True Meteor Reincarnation" is a Brazilian game, the "Boitata" and "Saci" demons are from brazilian folklore and the developer "Ervilha" is the portuguese for "pea" (I think)
If ypu make another smt inspired fangame vid i absolutely recommend fear and hunger (the sequel termina specifically) though maybe it might be lumped with it being persona inspired with characters/party members turning into persona 4 shadowbosses- i mean moonscorched
Y'know a few people have mentioned that one to me and I know I've seen it, but for some reason I just keep forgetting to look into it. I'll add it to my spreadsheet though!

About TMR i noticed that there are a lot of Brasilian demons...Boitata and Saci specially. I think Jamon is supposed to be a pun of some short? But i couldn't tell you what it was. I am Brasilian and speak portuguese but i can't quite make out what its supposed to be either...It does sound a lot like its a pun of some kind however.

@strain42 Yeah Coruja kinda confuses me cause its literally just owl...There isn't really any folklore creature i could see it tying into. If it was Boto or Curupira it would've made more sense

Death of a Wish is probably better labeled as a 'sidequel'. Something that takes place concurrently to the original work, or close enough.

Bloomtown is an absolute banger! The soundtrack is amazing!

Monolith, Square Enix we demand and HD 2D remake of Xenogears featuring a completed Disc 2 as well.
I think at this point they just can't because of legal reasons. It seems like a headache to figure out.
