- One of my friends wants to teach her children some beginning sewing so she asked me to make a tutorial for her. So that she and her children can learn this and are able to review it several times. These are fabric yo-yos also known a Suffolk's puffs and Buttons in USA during the 1930'sand 1940's.

Other useful info on my blog: If you just want to see some examples here are all the posts on my blog about yo-yos alot of them. In these examples you will find how to lay them out what some ideas are for things I have used them in. Also there are tools out there if you want fancier ones. Some talk about other people that do yo-yos, examples of vintage yo-yos, there is a lot of info on here. Have fun searching through it all. Also good luck teaching the girls you will need to let me know how it goes.
This is the easiest way to begin to make a caterpillar for a child, and I have been trying to do that for a long time, now I know how to do it. Thank you.
My late mum showed me how to make these when I was a child. I think I'm going tot take it up again and make a bed cover. She had tons of fabric as she was an amazing quilter! Thank you for the tutorial.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!! I've made these before but wasn't happy with the end result. This showed me the one thing I was missing! When I heard the thread pop when you pulled the knot to the inside of the yoyo, I literally blew a kiss to the TV!!! Thank you!
You are welcome

Great tutorial! Super easy to follow. Good for me as I've made them before, many, many years ago. Needed a refresher (for attaching them) & chose your tutorial right away. I lucked out! Succinct instructions, not a lot of filler. Thank you!
so sorry you had a headache; sure couldn't tell it and you did a terrific job showing how to make these. I'm sure your friend really appreciates it. I appreciate it. I was needing to learn how to make these to put on a project I was working on. Thanks !!! :)
This is the BEST tutorial, so thorough! THANK YOU! I’m excited to start a project 😊
You are so welcome!
Best tutorial on these I've seen. Others made it look a little fiddly, this simplifies it. Thank you!
Como se hace una cenefa
You have a teaching gift!!!! I loved the video, very simple and neat, very helpful, thank you!
I love yo-yos! I've been making a quilt for several years, and it's more than half-done.
Love the knot this way. having arthritic fingers this so much easier. Thank you
Best ever tutorial for yoyo's!! Thank you
Thank you for sharing how to do these. I will be taking a yo-yo project to a quilting group, and now I have confidence on making these. Many thanks!
Natalie MayPop thank you for your kind words and good luck with your project

I've viewed several videos on how to make yo yo's and yours is the best. You are very detailed with your explanations while giving a brief history. Also, what I enjoyed best is your way seems quicker.
Thank you for sharing your creations with us 😂 😂 xx
I would like to learn how to make them. Your instructions are so easy to understand . Thank you 💞😊
I remembered as a small child ..sitting,at my Grandmother's feet..while she made those yoyos..
Which she then made into bedspreads..and other things..
New Subscriber new to sewing I’m making these and rewinding your videos excellent I’m not sure how long it will take me to make something but I’m looking forward to the end result
it does take a long time to make a bed sized one but if you do it in 9x9 patches it is managable and an easy carry along project which makes it get done faster than you would think
thanks from Harcourt North, Victoria, AustraliaI found some of my mum's (who has died) unfinished projects and appreciate your film clip. I can now complete our yo yo quilt Annie
you are so welcome

sorry I had a migraine while making this for my friend so I had a hard time thinking talking and sewing and trying to keep my mind clear. But my friend had asked and I had promised it on this day so I had to do it to keep my promise. She would have understood just I wanted to be able to help her when I promised I would.
Thank you. Nice tutorial.
You are welcome
Helpful tutorial; thanks!
Very nice and easy to follow.
glad you liked it
Best tutorial ever!!
Thank you
Great tutorial! Love the thought of making a throw for my bed but...it would probably take me forever for my queen sized bed...oh I love it! Thank you for sharing. ((Hugs)) -Christine
Very clearly explained. Thankyou
Thank you
Can you make a tutorial for square shape? No one else has one and tutorials I've found are in Chinese with metric. i'd especially like to see how they are sewn together.
LindieLee there is one in my blog
thank you I am glad it was able to help you
❤
Muy bonito
This was so easy. But how would you add a button? Going to make this a summer project for my grandchildren
redtom34 i am not understanding your question...the button i did was just sewn on afterward same for the pin back
If I want to make a yoyo quilt, do I need to sew the joined pieces to a backing so that there are no gaps, to hold batting in? If so, how do you sew them onto the fabric? I can't find any complete instructions on how to make a yoyo quilt, all just show how to make yoyos but not the quilt.
I have seen people see to a piece of fabric but it is more like a sheet single layer no batting as this is a summer quilt
Typo no batting
@@WendyHarbaugh thank you! ☺
Have you made tutorial for the yo yo teddy? It looks very interesting.
Sorry i have not made a video for it but there its a tutorial to make the doll on my blog and any teddy bear pattern can be used to make a head

I.seen others use cardboard in centre but to me there's no.need looking at what you are doing tfs
thank you for your comment
So when using a regular thread do u double or single. And where can u get the long needle.
Stephanie Johnson. You double it
Can you stuff this with cotton.
Stephanie Johnson i am sure you could if you wanted it to stay fluffier as they do get compressed over time
Ok thank you.
how did you make the bear using yo yos
Lynda Austin you make a head and hands from a stuffed animal pattern them use yoyos for arms legs and torso
How long must it take to do all those? 😂😂
I don't keep track sorry
Só pode ser em inglês?
I only speak English
