These V1 Deluxe Tumnus are the ones buy . It's made to perfection and it has the correct diodes . Brian visited Bill in Boston to get his blessing . Bill gave him a box of some Klon parts for his own personal use . Brian released the pedal with the goat guy and Bill was not happy . Brian told Bill he would take goat guy off and the new design and put different diodes in the pedals . Lot of people don't know this . The V1 Tumnus Deluxe is a true Klon with more options . The Andertons video proves it . Pete thought this pedal sounded the best behind a true klon .

I bought the Tumnus Deluxe because a) I dig what Brian Wampler does with his designs, taking known designs and adding functionality that we all wish the original had, and b) the original Anderton's video of the shootout with Chappers and a ton of ODs. Only the Tumnus (mini) was out then, but it slayed everything else, even after I went back and listened again with headphones. Three-band EQ and a gain switch for the Deluxe, no brainer. It's what Wampler does, but he did it to his own pedal, sort of. Mine is rarely turned off.

Have Soul Food, but I must admit, Tumnus sounded somehow better in this vid. But Soul Food beats Tumnus in other vids… atleast for me (maybe because I own it?…)

I have the tumnus deluxe and it’s really nice. I haven’t played any other K circuits so I can’t speak to how the others compare, but I really like the tumnus.

I liked them all, but I thought the Big red pedal and the soulfood had a slightly better tone and harmonics in the first part. The rest of the video they all sounded pretty close as being indistinguishable. I have the Soulfood with Meat pedal, modded by JHS, but a friend borrowed it, and he said he tripped over the cord and it wasn't working now. Bummer.What are friends for anyway?

Yea, I think the Soulfood with the JHS mod is the pedal to have if you can't (like me) get a genuine Klon Centaur.

Great video, I was just in Main Street Guitars drooling over that exact Les Paul. It sounds way better when you play it though.
It's a great guitar. That one I was playing was actualy Jason's, the manager of the shop. It's set up real nice.
I use a Chellee Pony Boy Klon inspired pedal... the added bass control sold me...it adds the dreaded low bass that Klons loose...when on ...also built a tank...made in the USA

just got the soul food, I love it!!!! doesn't work with all my amps. A couple of my amps have a loud static pop when I engage the soul food. but other than that, I love the clean boost. You were reading my mind Rich
went to the buffered setting, helps, but I still have a nasty pop on 2 of my heads when I engage the soul food
Just got a foxpedals kingdom combo just to be a bit different lol.
Of the non-Klon/Tumnus pedals, the J Rockett Gold Archer sounded the best to me, but it (and the silver) had a creaminess to them that loses a bit of attack, a bit of the "consonance" that comes with changing how you pick the strings. Both Archers seem to try very hard to keep level (volume) consistent from string to string/note to note. I personally wonder at the need for a silver version beyond marketing because the original Klon had gold and silver casings over its lifetime. I really can't fault the original Klon. It sounds fantastic. But it only has three knobs (gain, treble, output/level), and leaves little room for fine tuning. Same goes for the Klon KTR, and the original goes for at least twice the price of the KTR. They sound great, but when you have a pedal like the Tumnus Deluxe, which matches them tone for tone and adds more, it's a no-brainer. Get yourself a Tumnus Deluxe. Got mine through payment plans on Amazon. Zzounds and American Music Supply also have plans. You're not going to be let down. It sounds great through humbuckers and single coils, Tele and Strat. Blues to chords to heavy gain rock, you're covered. Just great tones.
I like the red klon (maybe because I use one) over the centaur, and I like the EQ and clarity of both. I leave mine on all the time as a gentle transparent boost and it reacts well with the guitar volume - it is also very quiet and plays well with other overdrives. I liked the tumnus too, but I felt it sounded maybe a tad scooped and a little compressed. To each their own, I guess. Some soulful playing there, thanks.
Must admit I liked the soul food pedal on your first run through , but in the end the gold archer would be what I would buy...... it just sounded a little punchier but smooth and defined..... but what would I know im bloody deaf lol

I went through a Klon clone search a few weeks back and ended up getting the Tumnus Deluxe. To my ears the clones sound very similar but the extra EQ capabilities pushed that one over the finish line. They all sound wicked through that Les Paul!

Klon shootouts are my favorites. It's my favorite OD circuit by a country mile. Tumnus Deluxe is my favorite. Gain stays at 3 unless I just want EoBU.
If anything, this is making me regret turning loose of my Big Muff.

For me its a draw between the gold archer and the tumnus. Its really close though. I thought the silver archer was the weakest. Still good but the thinnest tone to my ears. Great video
For pure sound in the video the Tumnus, Gold Archer, then the Klon and Soul Food were tied.
Like others mentioned, the Soul Food sounded great on the first run through.
As a beginner my buying list would go Tumnus, Soul Food, then the gold Archer. I wouldn’t spend the big money on the Klon or KTR, even if I could find one… I’d buy the Les Paul if I’m spending the money or a great amp.
