Rudiments are genuinely such a weird thing. They sound anything but fun right till you bring 'em to the kit. And then the miracle happens. Thank you, Dorothea!
I'm a clarinetist. I have no idea what is happening or know what you are talking about. But, the reason why I am just watching this video is because I saw a random reaction video and just decided to click on one of your videos. I almost could be inspired to play the drums. You are fantastic! Thank you for inspiring drummers!
I love this that was the first book of rudiments I used! Brings back memories 😊. Truly the Godmother of Drums. Now I need a favor because even though I know I'm a bit tardy to the party, can you do a reaction or analysis video on El Estepario Siberiano? I just discovered this guy and I know I'm late on it, but hey my heros and idols could all be his grandparents 😅 so he's new to me and I can't wrap my Sugarfoot, Buddy Rich loving mind around this guy and his hands. I would truly value a Technician such as yourself to make this guy make sense, because I can't.
This guy is definitely interesting. He really has honed his craft by probably practicing ALL DAY LONG for yrs and yrs to get this fast. Also there are some people more capable to do this than others, but it def takes sitting with sticks in your hands for many hours a day!
@Dorothea Taylor Dtdrummerlady I truly respect your take on him. I agree that is a lot of dedication to get to that point. What I think I found most interesting was how loose his grip is while maintaining that level of stick control. When I was playing metal frequently, I could never keep my hands that loose and not lose a stick. Now as part of my physical rehab I'm going back to rudimentary drumming on a single practice pad. Which is good because I won't break a stick and I'm down to my last two pair of Ludwig 2Bs. Still my favorite sticks after 42 years and they don't make them anymore, nor does anyone else use the same tip design. I will have to run mixed vinyl and wood tipped for most of what I play once I regain control of my left hand if I break these two pair.

Thank you! I try to teach the importance of learning them to add to your gills and grooves. 😊
Just wonderful!

Dangit - I have 4 guitars, two ukes, and a piano... it's okay if I just buy a drum pad right? :P
Yes! Of course! The drum practice pad is a must! 😊
I'd so like her to play Diana Ross I'm Coming Out - or at least the intro
