Morning Dave. I never thought I would sell my Interceptor 650, until I bought the Classic 350 as a stablemate. It wasn’t long until I realised I rode the 350 more, so sold the Interceptor……bonkers how the 350 gets under your skin like that. I don’t know about green laning on Norman, but those tyres are well suited to the state of all our roads at the moment. My pet hate, and constant whinge on my videos, is the state the roads are in nowadays.

My first Royal Enfield, a 2002 500 Bullet ES that I bought in 2011 got right under my skin very quickly and so started my love affair with them. I still have that bike, it has been a faithful machine and has done everything asked of it very well through all weather's all year round. I now also own a Desert Sand Signals 350 which doesn't disappoint at all and has also gotten under my skin too.
It's all about the journey, not the destination.

Got my license 2 years ago and eventually bought a 2018 T100 but man I tried out the classic 350 and a part of me really wanted that bike. If you don’t use the highway much then it’s a perfectly fine bike for daily use and Sunday jaunts

We are a new momentum in the bike world …. Older fellas and ladies selling the big cc stuff and finding the joy in smaller cc bikes we can spanner ourselves and accessorise cheaply. I PX’d my lovely St1300 for my Himalayan a couple of years ago…. The dealer was at pains more than once to emphasise the performance difference …. Loved my two pans took me and the wife all over Europe but he Himmy has given me as much joy on the roads less travelled. Ride safe.

This kind of motorcycle was off roading long before adventure bikes were even thought of.
I agree with you about the look of the pillion seat and have left my pillion seat on too. I have also removed the rear grab rail and fitted a rear rack from Hitchcocks for those days when I need to carry some kit but don't need a full pannier set.
These bikes are such a joy to ride anywhere at any time of year.
    Have fun! 😊

@@danielleclare2938 it actually helps and protects any bike if you plan to do what what Dave mentions in the title ... treat all enfields like a cheap Chinese bike ... they will rust ,, they will need a lot of love and attention ,, if you want to save money learn to maintain and love them personally ,,,

These machines look the part and appear to be super value for money. As we all get older I feel there will be a substantial move towards lighter user friendly bikes. Obviously RE already know this.

I have to say the brown seats look better, not the quality but the colour. They do make those touring seats in brown but they are dark brown rather than tan.

My Triumph TR25 with knobby tires works great off road. 100 lbs lighter so less weight is a good thing.l have had her for 20+years and paid $500 for her stock, matching #, low mileage. BSA C-15 250 are great little bikes. Cheap and cheerful as you Brits say. I haul her out to the sand trails on my bike trailer hauled by my URAL side car outfit. I get plenty of looks going down the road. I put crashbars on all of my street bikes. Worthwhile protection for the bike no question. Say hi to Eddie for me. Enjoy your new bike and ride safe.

    Snap .
Went from a Kawasaki Vulcan VN900 custom cruiser 2 years ago to a 350 Enfield classic .
Best move I've made since the 80s.
Love B road laid back touring on these little soul bikes.
I'm retired so no rush and pottering at 50 - 60 suits me. fine.
Bought same frames but with canvas panniers that I treated with Belstaff jacket wax to add better water proofing.
DNA air filter done , Punjab straight exhaust and solo rear rack for luggage roll camping kit
Just got the Xlite ecu to go.

Great additions for your new bike, the tyres are awesome :) Thanks for your info on the metal panniers, I have ordered a pair, but after watching your video realised the canvas RE bags don't fit them due to the mounting bracket not being in the same place as the original pannier (a bit of fettling required to get the bags to fit) I don't understand why RE have stopped making them. Bit of info for your subscribers....Contacted Hitchcocks who are getting original spec RE panniers rails made for themselves but are not expecting them for 3 months, so the canvas bags will fit. Looking forward to an update on the touring seat to see what you think of it. Always great content...safe riding

Looks well set up for a little tour & bimble . I reckon the replacement black seat ,looks a lot better ,than the hipster brown original effort . I have seen them rear pannier shelves fitted with foot boards ,for Indian women in Sari’s to sit side saddle on Bullets . The fitting of crash bars is a good idea , but not too sure about the quality of those weedy long Givi mounting bolts having the tensile strength of the original factory fitted engine mounting bolts. The big gate bars on your old classic , looked a lot more substantial & up to the job , looked as if you could have rode through a dry stone wall & out the other side & kept on going .👍

I have very similar, Indian made pannier frames on my meteor. I am very satisfied with them functionally but the finish proved to be poor quality. Having cleaned up the rust and repainting them, they are good to go. Always best to have realistic expectations with cheap aftermarket bits. I'd still rather have them than the oe box. That looks like a paper shredded stuck to one side of your bike.

  • @quentinbush
    @quentinbush 14 днів тому

Thank you for posting your opinions on the upgrades, your Enfield looks superb. I have been thinking of how to achieve a bit more top end power on the HNTR. I don't think the air filter is the issue but that of the lack of additional fuel entering the cylinder. I already get the loud 'baaah' but no significant increase in power, interestingly the loss in fuel economy is so minimal if at all notable. This must be because it isn't using any extra fuel. A dealership informed me the fuel ECU upgrade wasn't worth bothering with so more power requires just buying a bigger bike.

Hi Mate, enjoyed that. Good to hear you can get stuff from India reliably with no additional import duties.
You might want to check the manual, if you think it's run on after 300 miles I'm afraid your in for a shock. At 300 it goes from very slow to just slow. But it's still good fun.
    I'm loving mine.
    (I'm in the same boat.)
I'm holding out on the touring seats because to be honest although I do agree they look a bit better I think the stock seat is bloody comfortable, so why change something that isn't broken?
Anyway, let's hope for some sunshine soon.
    Ride safe bud👍

Yes get a sump guard as mine has after 4000 miles got a central area that has been shotblasted to bare metal and im presuming that would happen to the engine. Its easier to take the guard off and spray it.

G'day sir. The bike looks stunning. I must say that when you said you were going to exchange the seat colour from the brown which i really liked, i thought, hmm, not so much but now i see the black with the halcyon grey, & the black bags, you really made a perfect choice, the bike is a real eye catcher. For me comfort is everything , I'm 67 and my wonderful 1100 gs is no longer 'comfortable' as its too heavy and a pain to move , when will someone come up with a universal reverse gear. I bought an early 2000 bm funduro gs which was fine once I'd sorted the awful seat out so now its a single seater with a proper flat seat. Funny how RE stumbled upon this market and have resisted the urge to make their bikes 50cc bigger every year. It's great when you realise you don't need the kudos of biggest , latest etc. Enjoy.

so as my Hunter 350 is the same engine i did put the better prefomance parts , stage two DNA air filter , Hitchcock Kent performance camshaft , got rid of the catalytic converter , and put a Enfield precicion free flow silencer on from Hitchcock ( plus baffle! , works better! and does not make the neighbors angry 😇). The bike runs much better , so much better up hill (less down shifting ) much quicker if needed for overtaking ( safer ) , sounds better , top speed plus minus 130 km and use a little bit more fuel but that also depends how you ride it , . 😁 . these changes are totally worth it ,. i love my Hunter 350 this bike is fun fun fun . and i love my Interceptor 650 too this bike is fun fun and faster ,lol ... Hello from Australia !!!👍 ( good video mate !) i hope this helps a bit in making decisions in to do those upgrades .

Good to see you return to the Classic 350 fold - the correct colour too - just like mine! If you're interested ive done the high performance cam, decat pipe, Fuelx lite and Hiscocks ( not DNA) inlet baffle. Good improvement overall but quite a lot of work to do the cam - might be worth trying the other improvements first. There have been some measured tests on UA-cam which cast doubt on any gains from the DNA baffle. Thanks for great videos.

I took a leaf out of your book and ordered parts from India, some crash bars. I know how to fit them now.

Morning Dave, what a great looking bike and in that colour. I'm very tempted to get one, but don't want to sell my Interceptor, if I got one in a similar colour to my Interceptor, my wife might think it's the same bike, I've just got to make sure she doesn't see them together 😊

Excellent video Dave, very well presented.
You are blessed with excellent communication skills 👏
Michael Parkinson, he was fantastic, probably the best chat show host in the world, a great listener also and he was a Yorkshire man, of course he was 😊
Brilliant Video, love the Bike, it suits Yorkshire that bike.

Hi dave. Nice video. We have the same colour baby blue. Mr.taym showed our bices behind eachother. Like you doing other things than i have. Love the panniers, think i do that allso.
I did the decat pipe and the air filter. With that it sounds great. Just fitted the performance camshaft. In one hour i take berzan on a testride. Take it easy with the camshaft (i dropped the chain, so had to find tdc again). Best regards from Holland and ride save with my brother Norman.

Dave, usually you spend a fortune on adding lots of accessories to your bikes and then within a very short span of time they get sold. Hope this one is the exception to the rule!

Hi sir, lovely bike, I don't know if you've already done this if you have please disregard this tip. Where the side pannier mounts to the mudguard stay. I would wrap some rubber inner tube round first then fit clamp, will help save the paint. All the best sir and enjoy the new r/e classic 350👍😁. Ps. ride with Warro had the exact same bike,.used it for all types of terrain over in Oz.

Sumpguard is a must, stops all the mud and crud from hitting the crankcase and ruining the finish on the engine. Have you changed the mirrors? The Halcyon Grey Classic came with Chrome Mirrors as standard? I have the Halcyon Black now and also the Meteor 350 in Aurora Green, cracking Bikes.🙂👍

Nice bike and good luck with it. Not sure on the logic of putting "performance" parts on these low cc bikes. It is was it is

That's a ridiculous price for those pannier rails Dave, l have just paid £500 for the bags and carriers for my T120 and had to wait 5 weeks for them to arrive from Germany. Norman is looking lovely 👍

My BMW's 1000 is barely heavier than my 600. Big bikes don't have to weigh a ton.

Very nice, Iv'e completed the mods on mine too, seat springs, single touring seat, Iv'e attached a small rack to the rear seat but only fit it as a complete unit along with the pannier rails if I'm touring. Decat pipe, camshaft, DNA filter c/w plate, & Kent cam. Let us know how you get on with the tyres they look really good. Enjoy your new steed, they're very addictive 👌
