i went to this place during the soft launch, and i can tell that this is the best indonesian style martabak manis in singapore. to suits singaporean taste bud, they really cut down the butter and sweetness, but the taste still reminds me of jakarta.

I got to say... this is the best martabak manis in Singapore. I think i tried another one at orchard, which was reviewed by some food critic saying it was nice... but it wasn't even close.

martabak manis in indonesia was origin from Bangka island. First made by Chinese Hakka called Hoklopan ( Hoklo means Hokkien, (Hakka ppl in Bangka call Hokkien is Hoklo), pan means kue/cake ), dont know why they call it Hoklopan. The original one only using sugar, peanut or sesame and then ppl modified using chocolate or cheese and other topping..ppl in Jakarta call this as martabak manis or martabak Bangka. If you go to Belitung island (Bangka Belitung islands province) you can find ppl selling this martabak manis.but they write it Hoklo at their cart

My first thought seeing the thumbnail was "ah so dry looking this looks like it lacks butter" turns out im right haha this is singaporean healthy version. Good ones in indonesia will absolutely coat your fingers in butter, completely ruin your napkins, have liquid fat dropping out when you bite into it its amazing
Also naming your child bruce after batman feels onmimous somehow as his parents

alifia ! he’s doing a business where he accustomed to the local taste bc he’s a smart businessman. If you don’t like then go to Indonesia for the “authentic” martabak. What a utterly judgmental comment when it’s just a pure wholesome video abt a man growing up in Jakarta and bringing it to sg and showing his love for Batman. You see all the negative in this video.

We called it Kueh Malaya or Apam Balik in Brunei. The very common fillings are roasted peanuts, condensed milk,butter/marg, raisins and sugar. Nowadays people have adapted the flavours/fillings and some of them are Cheese,Chocolate and Pandan. My personal favourite is cheese cause it is sinfully rich, delicious and sweet with a little bit of saltiness from the cheddar😍
