I am so thankful for the effort and the danger you put yourself in to show us these amazing reptiles. I seriously felt like I was back in the Cretaceous Period swimming in the Western interior seaway, especially with that clear water. It's insane to me that such a massive animal can move about and barely disturb the water. It's no wonder that they've survived, unchanged, over millions of years when they're so perfectly adapted to being completely undetected - and I love that the reason they're like this is 100% to allow them to successfully capture they're prey, they're an apex predator, but it also keeps them safe from us - just think how many crocs have survived hunters over the last few hundred years because, even as one of the largest animals on the planet and by far the largest reptiles, their instinctual stealth allows them to go undetected to the vast majority of people. I bet there are far more people who have swam past a crocodile or alligator and never even known it was there than have been attacked by them.

I grew up around alligators and for the most part they leave you alone if you leave them alone. I would swim in canals with alligators present. Occasionally one would start swimming towards you, but you just chuck a rock at it and it would leave. I know crocodiles are more aggressive than alligators, so there is no way I would get in the water with a crocodile. We had a 13 foot gator that was snatching pigs from our farm. He was massive. I can’t imagine how big that 15 foot croc was.

When underwater in the black at the bottom a 1000 lumen light will disappear 2 inches from my face. So much silt that stirred up, once that happened it was pitch black even with the light. Got caught up in fishing string so after I got untangled I surfaced at the dock and got out.
