It's was used as a hill climb car by Peugeot sport. Featured on Fifth Gear. Stolen and recoverd. Then It had an accident and sold at auction. Then it was featured on a UA-cam channel called (Serious about Salvage). Then sold to me.
I actually own an R remapped @300hp . It's just relentless. Torsen mech slip diff just makes you smile like a child with his first bike. The power is INSANE , feels like you're driving a 2.5 lt engine , not really a 1.6lt , and this honestly is PRICELESS. Amazing car , with Rays 20" rims looks SO aggressive :)
@@freddiemangood5109Different internals, different turbo. You can get 230 hp out of the THP 200 version but not much more unless you upgrade the turbo.
Purchased a 2012 RCZ 2.0 turbo diesel last November and have to say it's such a quality car..it goes like a bullet if you want to,but it's comfy on long journeys...would recommend it to anyone looking for a sports car that has the comfort at the same time 👍
Hi, currently weighing up TT or RC. Sister has the 200 and the ride over potholes is awful, is the Hdi much better with taller tyres - softer springs? - The rear end is the suspension that is violent for no reason (well maintained, new premium yres, 60k mls) - Really fancy a c. 2014 hdi Gt in alluring red or silver metallic and full hyde interior :)

I suggest you look at the video again and use your eyes, they used two different times meaning they faked the result. No TT owner will cry over this...
It was wet. The same test in dry conditions would let the extra torque of the TT reverse the result. And if they did it from a standing start, again the torque would win the day.
No serious sports car enthusiast will consider either of these. Because they aren't really sports cars. Wrong wheel drive, too heavy, don't handle that well. Also both quite dull. Try something like a Lotus Elise and you'll see a real sports car is world away.

A dull car is your moms ford S-max, these two little cars atleast give some enjoyment in your drive. And I see no reason as to why TT fans shouldnt be butthurt, the matchup was completely unfair. Yes the mk3 is a newer car than the RCZ, but that was a base model MK3 TT, while the RCZ was the top trim model R version. A fair comparison would be the RCZ R against the mk2 TT RS. Still, considering the mk3 base model tt was only 1.5 seconds slower than the RCZ R, I think that in itself is quite impressive. And besides, I cant think of any car you can get for ~2k euros that is as fun as a mk1 TT that isnt a rusted out bmw beater.

RCZ R is a much hotter, unique car. I would drive it as a daily driver. It looks amazing in person, small details really distinguish it from base version.
which one felt better built and better quality? I'm hoping to get something with this shape that makes me drool, and its between RCZ and TT 8J. The TT kind of really takes me head over heels though
I bought an RCZ Red carbon last August and was instantly smitten - until a mates wife referred to as a poor msns TT. Shes a dinner lady, drives a corsa. Talk about a spiteful jealous cow.
The Audi initial time of 1:28:88 was just a mistake.In fact during the half way point the RCZ lead by 1.3 seconds,hence the final lead time of 2.17 sec.During this test the the RCZ-R was used which is their flagship model compared to the basic TT.If they test it with at least the TT-S model the story would be different.About the looks the TT has more agressive looks at the front than the RCZ however the rear side I prefer the Peugeot.That`s my opinion.

It's a no brainer: I'd pick the TT. Whoever buys these cars will spend most if their time in it and not racing against the clock and the TT has a much more refined interior. I wouldn't be surprised if this Peugeot is as plasticky as the rest of their cars.
+baer Maybe drive it before you speak, RCZ is a very refined car. Or at least look at the pictures. RCZ feels more expensive inside than the TT, there's nothing cheap about it or plasticky. In fact, EVERYTHING in the RCZ is covered in leather, EVERYTHING, the dashboard from top to bottom, the door panels from top to bottom, the headliner is alcantara, etc. whereas the Audi is all plastic. It's good plastic, but it's still plastic.
+derbigpr500 Leather is not the only important thing, compare the TT infotainment system and the RCZs one, or just look at the steering wheel, the screens (which the TT doesn't have because of Virtual cockpit) or just all the buttons of the peugeot.
Funny thing about the RCZ ... its being produced in Austria by Magna-Steyr, and NOT in France by Peugeot them selfes - so that's what it takes to make a great Peugeot: Produce it in Austria :)
I know.. but in my world, its just a fact that Peugeot cars have been ..... crap, and borring, model after model for years, and then - when the first RCZ came out some years ago, it was finally the first Peugeot in a reaally long time to get some really good reviews. And that model (the first RCZ) was also made by Magna Steyr.

I miss Vicki Butler Henderson. And Tiff, for that matter. They're both such good presenters. TT and RCZ R was a fair comparison in terms of price, but it's not really right to say Audi has a way to go before they compete with it. TTS was its natural rival but Audi expected (correctly as it happens) that people would pay more for the badge. TT RS of course was quicker still. Of course today, when a boggo 2 series complete with plastic seats and the engine from a midrange Mini costs 38 grand, both cars look like ridiculous value even factoring in inflation.

As someone who has owned many Audis and Peugeots, Audis are boring but very reliable and comfortable whereas Peugeots are cheeky ,fun ,full of character and exciting but sadly hindered by squeaky cheap plastics and constant trips to the garage for repairs due to the cheaper build quality. Personally I'd choose Peugeots everytime if they didn't cost so much in garage trips. I remember seeing the rcz at the Peugeot stand at goodwood FOS and falling in love with it especially that bubble roof, I have only seen a couple of dozen of them on the road since so I'm guessing they didn't sell too well? Signs of a future classic in the making
Seems greatly biased. Why compare the standard TT (230hp) with the top notch RCZ (R model, 270hp)? Either it should have been a comparison of the standard TTwith the standard RCZ (THP 200, 200hp) or they should have pitted the RCZ R against the TT top model (TTS, 310hp).

RCZ has nothing against the much better quality TT, they should redo this test with the TTS at 39 grand it's a bit more expensive. But I'd like to see how the extra power does on track
+phone4R The only test they did was a regular RCZ vs a Scirocco and TT where it lost on every comparison. The RCZ review doesn't even mention a TTS, so you're just full of shit. The new TTS pushes out almost 300bhp and has a Quattro all wheel drive, the RCZ is a toy car compared to it.

Strange when talking about traction control and the electronic diff of a front wheel drive car, the camera focuses on the rear wheel. Not great Fifth Gear!

I love the way Vicki completely neglected to mention the actual vehicle name at the start. Apparently an Audi TT is actually called an ‘Audi 2.0 TFSI S Line’. That and, 40bhp is an awful lot more power in this context.
The RCZ is definately the better looking of the 2 (which is one of the main reasons you buy a car like this). The Audi TT looks boring by comparison...and is also as common as muck!
That is if you can afford it. Its a nifty car but this is the only rcz model variant that comes close to 6s mark, models above are in 8s range. On the other hand, you can buy used tt for 4x less pricewise with model variants at 6.6s. With so little units driving around, its more like its peogeots showroom car rather than real world practicality.
Audi is premium so costs more meaning the real rival to the RCZ R is the TTS , i guess you buy the RCZ R or TT because you cant afford the TTS , personally if my budget was 32k i would get a used TTS. The RCZ R is quite rare though so may well be a good used buy from a financial point of view , just a thought.
I'm a giant fan of the RCZ, it's my all time favourite car, but in this video you are comparing the fastest RCZ with the slowest Audi. The comparison would've been much more realistic if you chose to comapre the RCZ (*not* RCZ-R) with the TT, or the RCZ-R with the TTS
I'd buy the RCZ R for myself (manual) and buy a diesel TT with the appearance package thingy for my wifi. I just can't justify having the TT as a recreational car when it drives like a VW hot hatch (ie capable but boring)
I don't like this new TT. the last one was the happiest looking audi but now the designers have made it just as grumpy as the rest. and it looks even more like an R8 lite because of that.

Impressive victory from the Peugeot as the RCZ was an old model, at the end of its life, whereas the TT was a brand new model.

As someone who has owned many Audis and Peugeots, Audis are boring but very reliable and comfortable whereas Peugeots are cheeky ,fun ,full of character and exciting but sadly hindered by squeaky cheap plastics and constant trips to the garage for repairs due to the cheaper build quality. Personally I'd choose Peugeots everytime if they didn't cost so much in garage trips.
I remember seeing the rcz at the Peugeot stand at goodwood FOS and falling in love with it especially that bubble roof, I have only seen a couple of dozen of them on the road since so I'm guessing they didn't sell too well? Signs of a future classic in the making

Seems greatly biased. Why compare the standard TT (230hp) with the top notch RCZ (R model, 270hp)? Either it should have been a comparison of the standard TTwith the standard RCZ (THP 200, 200hp) or they should have pitted the RCZ R against the TT top model (TTS, 310hp).

RCZ has nothing against the much better quality TT, they should redo this test with the TTS at 39 grand it's a bit more expensive. But I'd like to see how the extra power does on track

Was'nt the the orignal Audi TT developed and built in Graz (Austria) by Magna Steyr, the same people also build the RCZ.

Talking in economic terms - here takes place a cross elasticity of demand, because these two cars are substitute to each other

The RCZ is definately the better looking of the 2 (which is one of the main reasons you buy a car like this). The Audi TT looks boring by comparison...and is also as common as muck!

Its a nifty car but this is the only rcz model variant that comes close to 6s mark, models above are in 8s range.
On the other hand, you can buy used tt for 4x less pricewise with model variants at 6.6s.
With so little units driving around, its more like its peogeots showroom car rather than real world practicality.

Audi is premium so costs more meaning the real rival to the RCZ R is the TTS , i guess you buy the RCZ R or TT because you cant afford the TTS , personally if my budget was 32k i would get a used TTS. The RCZ R is quite rare though so may well be a good used buy from a financial point of view , just a thought.

I'm a giant fan of the RCZ, it's my all time favourite car, but in this video you are comparing the fastest RCZ with the slowest Audi.
The comparison would've been much more realistic if you chose to comapre the RCZ (*not* RCZ-R) with the TT, or the RCZ-R with the TTS

I'd buy the RCZ R for myself (manual) and buy a diesel TT with the appearance package thingy for my wifi. I just can't justify having the TT as a recreational car when it drives like a VW hot hatch (ie capable but boring)

Audi TT looks soo boring and bland next to the RCZ. Nobody even gives the Audi a first look as they don't a Mazda 2, they're both boring. The RCZ everyone looks at amazed and it drives better and is faster. Read the Audi forums, there are a lot of TT buyers who are very angry at Audi and trying to sell their cars but they can't because nobody will buy them. The biggest drawback of RCZ is missing of awd system, which makes that car really ..handicapated, as all fwd "sport car"
