China is so laughably shameless about stealing anything that isn't nailed down while simultaneously pretending to be a self made nation. They're kind of like those millionaires who claim to be self made despite getting a $10mil loan from their parents to start a company, screwing over their partners, and then seizing control of the company and taking all the credit. Their rifles, other small arms, artillery, tanks, and aircraft are all based off Russia or Soviet designs, their recent aircraft carrier is literally Soviet scrap they rebuilt using Russian tech, most of their radar, computers, stealth tech, and aircraft use stolen American technology, and even most of their military training, tactics, and doctrine is based off stolen western ideas combined with outdated soviet ones they're starting to replace. You know when _Russia_ and the _Soviets_ are pissed you've ripped off their tech that you've got a serious problem. China hasn't had a serious self made military since the 18th century, first they imported French and German weapons, got German and British officers to train their men, then imported Soviet equipment and Soviet trainers and experts, and now they're devoting their entire economy and intelligence network to stealing from every country on earth. If they had to develop their own weapons and technology they'd be like North Korea: 50 years behind the rest of the planet and relying on human wave tactics to solve every problem.
@@arthas640 I mean it works right? Who cares if the tank you are using is built with foreign tech, it works. And the outdated tactics worked ok with Korea and India, not so much with vietnam. Military seeks to be on par with their competition. And it is not like other nations just magically developed technology that happens to look the same, it is just because china started the arms race much later that they have a lot of bad examples to not learn. By the way a lot of so called "stolen" tech are pretty legal, weapons like the L7 105, 35mm oerlikon, and various tech was imported during the 80s. They are trying to build an army, not an essay.

At one time, I made parts for DDC, Cummins and Caterpillar at the same time. I know for a fact that each company buys engines from their competitors and RE them. If they see something they like, they incorporate it into the next generation... as long as it does not violate patents. China is playing catch up on technology. But do not think that all they do is copy. China graduates more STEM students annually than the U.S. Their engineering knowledge is growing rapidly. Since they are a closed society, they may not be willing to share their research openly. Food for thought.
I think armorcast left out the best feature of this tank. It's actually produced in large numbers. Which is why I strongly believe that China has replaced russia as the second greatest military power around the globe, and why in a few years, they could be what hasn't been done in 40 or so years: An actual challenge to US military dominance
Can’t wait to drive this in squad if OWI gets it act together and starts releasing the pan Asian and Chinese factions. Also in my dream list is the Mitsubishi type 89 and type 10 mbt
With no blowout panels, I bet they've modified instructions for how many rounds should be stored in the carousel, seeing it may prove to be a challenger to the turret-tossing record.
Maybe not with that hardkill system. Also maybe there's an upgrade, armor over the ammo, blowout pannels inbetween the tracks and an armored door that opens when reloading, both pieces of armor able to withstand the fire and stuff.
Funny how the same kind of people praise the shit out of patchjobs like K2 or even Arjun for chirstsake. At that time I've long realized youtube is hardly a platform where you can expect to find good content, you mostly have a single "narrative" that's designed to be an echo chamber of the same crap.
What credentials do the people who say this tank is trash even have? Do they have access to all the classified information about it? No? Then they can be dismissed as evidence.
I’ve not looked much into Armored Warfare, but if they list a Type 99, Type 99A AND Type 99A2, then yes they have a fake tank. If they’ve only got the two variants though, then they’re just using the wrong name... kind of like “Type 98”, which was never used officially
If China is using the same kind of carousel autoloader as Russian tanks, will they be as competitive in the turret toss as Russian tanks have been in Ukraine?
So it would be Mark99 ? I can imagine that that might be the case if the designation was literally translated but Mark is usually only used when its a different version of the same machinery so the translation could be correct from the word but not from the meaning because there are big differences between this tank and earlier versions let alome that this is clearly not the 99th version of this tank. If they did an upgraded or changed version it could be the Type 99 Mark 2 for example
@@l.h.9747 You misunderstand the Mark designation logic, it's not the 99th iteration of a tank, that'd be M1a99. The M99 means it's the 99th tank platform adopted. Better example is with US rifles, the M1 Garand is the first rifle in the Make designation system
@@l.h.9747 My explanation was a guess as to the method of their system, I thought it was more like the modern American system but apparently not. It's still the same logic, just with the date instead. For example, the US rifle M1917 which was adopted for second line service in 1917

@@imuien420 yeah but at the end of the day it's still basically a derivative of a Russian t series tank, being that they designed it using the knowledge they already had, sure its got its own quirk's but it still does the same job
The cause of detonation is directly correlated to the extra ammo stored around the tank. Challenger does the same thing, it's why modern Russian tanks ONLY use the auto loader.
"Which has Russia's T-90 beaten in several ways" Actually, there hasn't been a single system which hasn't beaten T-90 in current Russia-Ukraine war, including T-90. More to that, there were not enough T-90 to try everything at.

The VT-4 is just an export tank, based on the Al Khalid design. It’s not used by the PLA themselves. VT-4A1 model is just an upgrade to that export option, again not something China will use domestically
@@ArmorCast I think the PLA ordered some units but definitely not going to replace the Type 99 anytime soon, its weird how the PRC's best tank isnt being used for the PLA.
Thank you. Another very informative video.

Some of the info is already put of date or wrong now like the GL5 active protection system, either way a good intro to the tank👍
Tanks have become more of a mobile recoiless gun platform instead of the battering ram unit that lead the charge.
Never were like that lol
Thinking back to ww1 they were never meant to take the role as a leading part of the army, they were moreso meant to break the line for the rest of the army to move through
Indians believe their tanks are the best 😂😂

Wait I thought that the Type 99A has Gen 2 thermals instead of Gen 3 thermals, well I guess that’s really nice if this tank gets added into War Thunder soon with Good Mobility, Firepower, Armor, Fire Control system etc!
It’s Gen 2, pretty sure it’s either the Type 15 or VT5 that has Gen 3, probably the Type 15.
VT5 is just export type 15@@iterationfackshet1990

It's almost got to be a good tank because they tend to "borrow without asking" or reverse engineer the best technology they can get their hand on and then make improvements to where they can
China is so laughably shameless about stealing anything that isn't nailed down while simultaneously pretending to be a self made nation.
There are a lot of nations that reverse engineer other's equipment.
@@gryph01 pretty much all of them probably. There is a difference between reverse engineering to see what your competition has and reverse engineering in order to make a copy.
@@randyhavard6084 Having worked in industry, particularly in manufacturing parts for diesel engines, I can tell you that it happens there.
Please make videos on how they got the raw materials for making these war machines
NORINCO makes some real god damn badass killer kit. Good on'em.
They make cheap and good guns
I think armorcast left out the best feature of this tank. It's actually produced in large numbers. Which is why I strongly believe that China has replaced russia as the second greatest military power around the globe, and why in a few years, they could be what hasn't been done in 40 or so years: An actual challenge to US military dominance
Nice Video! From a Chinese perspective, I would say that this is a very rational and unbiased video
Chinese tanks uses unlicensed Russian tank engines all weapons made by Chinese area either US copy or Russian
So basicly.. half a dozen women from the darts club.. armed with Nlaw will destroy these utterly in almost any scenario....
and all the other tanks in the world as well in this scenario
Now please make a video about Type 15 light tank!
Well they have GL-5 hard kill APS system for quite some time but don't know if they have mounted that on this tank or not!
I'm sure that they are better than the T-90. But, these untested tanks would come up short in a big way against battle-proven western models...
Can’t wait to drive this in squad if OWI gets it act together and starts releasing the pan Asian and Chinese factions.
Also in my dream list is the Mitsubishi type 89 and type 10 mbt
Your wish came true, say hello to 4.0 and 5.0.
Its interesting that the turret looks more western than Russian.
70 years ago, most guys' countries in the comment got fked by China with the WW2 Japanese tech.
And they said today Chinese Army is junk.😂
Funny how the same kind of people praise the shit out of patchjobs like K2 or even Arjun for chirstsake.
At that time I've long realized youtube is hardly a platform where you can expect to find good content, you mostly have a single "narrative" that's designed to be an echo chamber of the same crap.
Good research
China are actually building good tanks. Their new t-15 Black Panther tanks can compete with any other countries light weight tanks.
What credentials do the people who say this tank is trash even have? Do they have access to all the classified information about it? No? Then they can be dismissed as evidence.

so my Type 99A2 in armored warfare doesn't really exist :'(
Yeah A2 designation is completely false. No such version only ZTZ99A
I’ve not looked much into Armored Warfare, but if they list a Type 99, Type 99A AND Type 99A2, then yes they have a fake tank. If they’ve only got the two variants though, then they’re just using the wrong name... kind of like “Type 98”, which was never used officially
@@ArmorCast YEP the tier 8 is the 99, tier 9 is the 99A and the tier 10 is the 99A2 lol

All tanks look great until it gets hit for the first time.
If China is using the same kind of carousel autoloader as Russian tanks, will they be as competitive in the turret toss as Russian tanks have been in Ukraine?
Most interesting piece of misinformation is that designation, the Chinese for Type should actually be Mark
Same in Japanese
@@Romuls753 i would agree with you but the Type99 isnt the 99th tank platform adopted but because it was presented in 1999
@@l.h.9747 My explanation was a guess as to the method of their system, I thought it was more like the modern American system but apparently not. It's still the same logic, just with the date instead. For example, the US rifle M1917 which was adopted for second line service in 1917

like any weapon systems doesn't have lots of similarities lol. copy it only happens using the same stuff straight up from other designs, but 99 it not, and so does any of the contemporary design from chinese military. they perform the same thing, with same ideas, but have different design and some twist in the purpose and capability to fit their needs
@@imuien420 yeah but at the end of the day it's still basically a derivative of a Russian t series tank, being that they designed it using the knowledge they already had, sure its got its own quirk's but it still does the same job
type 99 looks like a tank from west world but developed in china. it was good video
It uses the ridiculous carousel auto loader ha! It does have a blow out panel it's called a turret
The cause of detonation is directly correlated to the extra ammo stored around the tank. Challenger does the same thing, it's why modern Russian tanks ONLY use the auto loader.

Actually, there hasn't been a single system which hasn't beaten T-90 in current Russia-Ukraine war, including T-90. More to that, there were not enough T-90 to try everything at.
Talking about specific points, the Type 99 is a more technologically advanced tank. Sure, so are most modern platforms, but when it comes to the Type 99 that’s quite interesting to see, given that Type 99 is based mostly on the T-72. Compared to the T-90, it has much better optics, better computer systems, a much better transmission, and better ammunition storage (not counting T-90M)
