I received a layer cake 10 inch square collection as a gift. I made the QST blocks by matching a dark and light square and used the techniques you mentioned. 42 blocks. I did sashing and cornerstones because it was so beautiful and colorful. Gifted it for a sister's 60th birthday last year. Quick and easy. Not all quilts need to have a complex pattern. Let the beautiful fabric do the work. I retired a year ago and made 8 quilts for my grand nieces and grand nephews from June to November. Fronts were a simple pattern and backs were panels with extra fabric to make it quilt top sized. Almost all fabrics from my stash. Reversible quilts. I did send all but one out for quilting but it was worth it. They all loved their quilts. I need to live another 100 years to use up all my fabric.😂 Making 2 quilts a month is this year's goal.
Wow! You are so productive.. I am not retired yet so my time is limited but I don’t let it stop me.., I like the idea of the reversible quilt.. I’ve never thought to do one but now you’ve inspired me.. keep on quilting and thanks sooo much for sharing….🌺💐👍
I absolutely do the same thing! I have also upped my productivity by prepping and quilting in stages. I enter my sewing room and have things ready to go. I cut, then clean area. Next time i go in I press and stack next to machine. Leave room, next time I have a few minutes I sit and sew. Stack next to ironing station. Clean up, and so on. Im really cranking them out. And Im not exhausting myself. Im rewarding myself with time to sew. And keeping things clean too.
Joy.. I love the system you’ve implemented… I’ve been thinking I need to devise a new method.. may I try yours … it sounds so efficient… and in this way you must not get bored working on just one project at a time…. 👍💐🌺
Why clean when you can quilt? hahaha I made the beginner mistake of buying random fabrics that don’t match. I like how you are designing simple patterns for stash. I’m going through my stash too.
Looking forward to this series
Thank you🌺💐
Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without....it was good for our grandparents -so learning to make it do is such a skill
Absolutely 👍 🤗🌺💐
