    Keep an eye out for rust under the leather wraps. I wrapped a saddle ring on a real nice 1894 and it rusted underneath.

      Could you put renaissance wax underneath to prevent it?

      @@peytoncole768 that’s a good idea. Maybe that’s what people do because I don’t think it would be so common otherwise. But I won’t be trying it.

    Another great video, upgrades are the hardest parts to find and in my case has led me to make my own in the past. Great to hear from you!

    I wish you could upgrade that receiver cover to blued or case hardened steel. That aluminum is my least favorite part of the gun.

    What do you use the ring on that receiver for? Also…
    I just got a Henry Evil Roy in 22wmr, and it comes with the large loop lever…which I HATE. Unless you have Hulk-like hands or are wearing gloves, it makes cycling the gun a real pain in the ass!
    I emailed Henry yesterday to ask for the link to purchase the standard lever, and they replied 10 minutes later telling me they’re going to send it to me for FREE! How’s that for customer service?
    The rep told me this is a common problem. People want the cool looking larger loop, but it isn’t for everyone. Too much space between your hand and loop to comfortably cycle it.
    Finally…
    If anyone has one of these 22 Henrys and you want to put a scope on it, you will need 3/8” Weaver scope rings, and an Uncle Mike’s hammer extension! The scope will sit too low/too close to the hammer and you can’t work the hammer. No space at all.
    The hammer extension is an inexpensive little thing that just clamps onto the exposed part of the hammer and juts out horizontally to give you something to put your thumb on.

      Thanks for the info!
      Ring is to tie it onto a saddle. At this point I suppose it’s nostalgic, seems like the toy Winchesters used to have them, and the saddle ring carbines in the movies.. ua-cam.com/video/HuzVtt9sXPg/v-deo.html

      When you change out your lever, can I buy the large loop from you?

    • @Ira88881
      @Ira88881 2 роки тому +1

      @@hocuspocus4871 You want to know what I feel terrible about?
      I got the regular loop last week, and it’s way too narrow! I hate it even more! You can only fit 3 fingers in there. I had no idea.
      So I bought leather strip…not a wrap kit but just a long length of leather strip…and wrapped it around the lever. Much more comfortable and functional.
      I feel guilty that Henry sent me the regular loop for free, and I’m not going to use it.

      @@Ira88881 You are correct, the regular lever is made for 3 fingers. The trigger finger does not go inside it, just the middle, ring, and pinky.

      The saddle ring was surely functional up until some point. My Winchester model 94 has a saddle ring and was manufactured in 1925. I agree $50 seems a little steep for a receiver cover with ring. I may still buy one though as I like the look. Congratulations on the upgrades- they look awesome!

    I enjoyed the video, just got an H001 and am looking for ideas for mounting a sling
    I would rather not drill into the gun for swivels
    Any ideas? Thank you in advance

    :) I didn't upgrade my sights - I added a 2-7 x 32 rimfire scope to my Henry.

    Did the factory rear sight work with the hi viz.sight you installed and how much did you have to move the rear sight and with way did you have to go

      The factory rear sight worked fine with the hi-viz.. I did not have to adjust the rear sight.

    is the HI-VIZ front sight metal or plastic? I see some are plastic and some are metal, or is it the H001M (Magnum) the metal front sight?

    • @tawaitai
      @tawaitai Рік тому

      and is there any fitment difference between the HI-VIZ H001 and the H001M???

    • @BlazeTracy
      @BlazeTracy  Рік тому

      It’s metal, for the H001 (22LR). Can’t speak to the M version.
      Looks like Hi-Viz discontinued the one I have, they’re advertising a front/rear sight replacement. You may be able to find the older one on-line or at a gun show.
