nirvana's song "polly" and Korn's song "daddy" are 2 of the most disturbing songs i've ever heard but i respect these bands for bringing this truth to light because it doesn't need to be swept under the rug, awareness needs to be spread about people that prey on women and children to make the world a more safe place
A side note about the 5-string Stella that Cobain used for recording Polly: He said he bought it at a pawn shop for $20 and never bothered to change the strings, which were nylon.
Even as a dumb kid kinda sheltered as much a single parent could I still have to say that hearing Polly without any back story was still uncomfortable like I knew Polly was not having a good time or a willing participant
Well, she was tied up in the song, after all, so it was obvious she was not a willing participant or having a good time. The song is pretty clear, even from a kid's perspective. You knew a bad guy had her and wouldn't let her go, even though she asked him to.
This song is so beautiful. It was critiqued for its violent nature but I think that discomfort it caused in society was so important. If the song didn't disturb the peace in society, the song's inner message wouldn't make an impact. Kurt understood how barbaric these acts were, and wrote them into a beautiful song, that brought attention to them.
You've captured an important aspect of the song's impact. It's true that the discomfort caused by the song's violent nature served a purpose in bringing attention to societal issues. It's through this juxtaposition that the song's inner message resonates and makes an impact. Thank you for watching and engaging with our video! 🎶🤘
"Polly" by Nirvana does have dark undertones, but it's actually based on a true crime story. Music can evoke different emotions and thoughts for each listener. Thank you for sharing your perspective, and we hope you enjoyed the video! 🎶
Great channel and great videos so far, Polly was recorded “new wave” as wel which sounds great and a recommendation would be “Creep” by Radiohead thanks for the videos🤘🏼
This was great can you please cover some different genres too like what JD went through from Korn or stories about post punk as well P L E A S E cheers
I'm not sure why you keep saying the song is quiet and not booming bass or loud drums as if that wasn't already a thing Kurt Cobain did in various other songs. I mean he was kind of known for being down. As was a lot of his music. Including polly.
I thought the whole thing was interesting. The beginning info was a first for me. A lot of channels have videos on UA-cam I can’t click off quick enough because of that ultra shitty over processed, empty calorie modern pop made by non-musicians on laptops. I’ve watched a few of these on this channel and I like it, haven’t had to keep my hand on the flush lever yet.😀 👍❤ subscribed
That's an interesting observation! "Polly" by Nirvana does share some similarities with Husker Du's "Diane." It's fascinating to find connections between different songs and artists.
The Polly Klaas Foundation...tells a very very different story..!! Like that she was taken from her bedroom...and provides the worst possible ending..!!

Cobain used an acoustic, he paid only $30 for...it even required duck tape to hold tune...xD
This channel is very underrated, love from California‼️

30 year fan that didn't know all that about little ole Polly. Thank you 😊
Very well done video. Will check out your other videos.
This song is still so relevant to today
Great channel’ first time watching’ just subscribed ✌️
Such an amazing and horrific song. I admit that I'm not always in the right frame of mind to listen to it when it arrives in a playlist
Another good song based on tragic subject matter , you might like to cover is “ suffer little children “
By The Smiths.
Appreciate the suggestion! We'll definitely consider covering it. Thanks for sharing and stay tuned for more awesome content! 🎶🤘

I grew up in Sumner, WA and don’t recall this story. Was a huge Nirvana fan too.

Great video !!!
Rather fascinating!
Damn this is dark. I thought this song was about a 'being tied up for a long time' kink......

Kurt Cobain was a true artist whose music transcends time and genre! One of a kind!
Yup! He, Lennon, Elvis and Jim Morrison! But today, the fake wannabes rather listen to some pussy mic holders who have NO musical talent!

Could you share your nirvana lofi as in your backsound? Please
I was always like skip, but besides Polly Nevermind was pure adrenaline from start to finish.Even Something in the way
He has this knack for doing that tho , just like about a girl on bleach out of nowhere a break from the heavy but also just a gut punch
Could've fooled me, sounds like he wants to do some heroin. Maybe it was autosubconcious for him. A lot of Nirvana lyrics have that addiction feel

I like electric Polly
Have you heard Polly new wave........it's like way faster and grungy or punky anyway look it up. Great video tho.
Glad you enjoyed the video! I'll be sure to check it out. Thanks for the recommendation!
What a crazy coincidence, I'm listening to the best of Nirvana as I speak.
It’s unnerving to hear Kendall Rae’s voice be used by AI. Anyone else catch it immediately?
Kurt Cobain was a genius
Razor..??
Very similar to Husker du- Diane

You said absolutely nothing. You describe paint drying
Paint..? Not that schmutz drying on your inner thigh, there? LmMFaO! ;) :P :o)
Thank you. I would recommend a different voice and less psychology. It’s a band writing a song and trying to be clever.
