At 28:30 🤯 Hit pause & drink it in. Massing in place of linear drawing, color, & feeling. We can really feel the emotion pouring out of this image. Absolutely stunning. A living master, no doubt.
no hay duda de que Nerdrum es uno de los grandes de la pintura de todos los tiempos .mas ahora que el arte sufre la mayor de las destrucciones por los ídolos de barro ,pero para golpear a estos falsos ídolos nació Nerdrum
Berry Street Tattoo You most magnificent person you. I was so so sad no words were spoken and thought I wish a lip reader would watch this and do a voice over or something. Never would have thought of this. Thanking you so much. Back to the beginning xxx
would be so much better if the "expert" was off camera and just voice over and one could see the paintings without his constant visual interruptions. Hard to believe Mr Nerdrum needs his paintings explained .
In this case, the expert is very much an expert! Jan-Ove Tuv is probably one of if not the leading student of Nerdrum, both in theory and as a painter himself. I do think the explanation is needed since this way of thinking about painting is by no means popular. Usually when he explains things it's never an expert parroting, it's someone who has learned from and knows *exactly* whats going on in the craft of painting.
Amazing technique, but most modernists have the same effect... with more substance. No matter how magnificently executed, the images seem to me to express no less and no more than your average surrealist or symbolist. While Mr Nerdrum may follow the old masters better than anyone else on the planet, the context of the old masters is absent... and therefore the images seem to me to be contrived. Odd Nerdrum devotees, please don't scream and shout, it is merely an opinion expressed with sincerity.
This is really so pretentious, and so bad that I just cannot watch it. I've spent enough time in museums and with my thousands of art books to know the difference between true excellence and this brand of untalented self-promoting fake profundity. It is just maudlin, and very unpleasant.
I return to watch many times thanks for posting . I still have to turn off the volume because of the annoying commentator . The seemingly loose style reveals a very economical application damn such art .
Imágenes impactantes. No deja indiferente al espectador. Gran pintor.

2024 and there is still a discussion whether the earth is round. That should not be discussed again.

useless without the audio. Grrrrrr...
Sad but not useless. As said in another comment: turn on subtitles so you can then read what is being said.
you are right. I was a little ungrateful.. :)

Flott
daddy's girl is a very cringey title
one of the most overrated painter of our times. Mediocre at best. Pure marketing.
Thus sayeth the mighty abstract expressionist who can't paint at all!
