  • Just noticed the video looks a little dark. Sorry about that. Just a quick table top review comparing each firearm. You can't go wrong with either but is one more suited for you?

Man, I got my DS9 yesterday and wow!
You hear people say it's like butter or on ball bearings, but damn, this thing really feels like it's on bearings!

Seems odd to compare a range abused XC compared to a factory new DS9. Not that the comment about price isn’t valid, but you said the XC wasn’t taken care of and the sights are off. Not sure this particular example provides much value considering the state of the XC

I understand where you are coming from. The sights being off will not affect the grouping. The abuse of a range gun didn't affect the grip, trigger, etc. Don't know if I mentioned it in the video, but I actually shot the XC a good while back when it was in newer condition. Just showing it now in the video since my friend purchased it. I am going to do more videos on it and will probably clarify some of that. We are probably going to throw a red dot on the XC as well. Thanks.

I just subscribed, great video!.I have been looking at the mpa ds9 hybrid. I don't know a whole lot about them but really want one.I want to try uspsa but shoot idpa.I know this is the uspsa version so i figured i would ask a couple questions and hopefully you can help me out.I have heard that the newer mpa ds9s seem to not have really any issues, however i am keeping my fingers crossed.I don't have small hands and don't have large hands, i am in the middle i guess.I also don't have real long thumbs. You mentioned the grip is a little fatter.I normally shoot polymers.Glock 34s xdms etc..Would you recommend buying this gun for medium size hands?.My concern is reaching slide stop or mag release.I did see an extended mag release on there. That would probably help for sure.Is that an extended slide stop on there i can't tell?I imagine it would make a difference for me if there was an extended mag release and slide stop.Usually you don't go to slide lock in uspsa but would be good to have it anyway.Looks like you have the loc version in a different video i think.Last question is how fast is the trigger? Travel and reset ,double taps etc..Sorry for all the questions but i figured i would ask before spending a few grand on it.I'm a serious shooter so just figured i would ask.I will steer people to your channel!.Thanks a lot!.

Thanks for subscribing. The newer guns are not having issues like the earlier ones. However, if there were issues, MPA would definitely make it right. The grips are not large. They are just the typical metal grips you find on most 1911 DS/2011 guns. I really don't think it would be an issue. I did have an extended mag release on there. I also had an extended thumbrest/gas pedal on there. It is a Nitrofin by shooting sports innovations. You would not be able to go to slide lock with it on. The trigger is great on the gun. It is very fast. It has the fastest reset of any gun I have ever owned/shot and I have owned other brands that are twice the price point of the MPA. Hands down, you will not find a better bang for your buck. Please let me know if you need anything else.

@bluepstu9009 Thanks for getting back to me.Did your ds9 have a slide stop on it when you got it or did you put it on there? I see on mpas website there is a slide stop on the one uspsa model.I know this model is not idpa legal because of the weight, but maybe one of the clubs i go to would let me shoot it in action pistol which is not idpa but similar rules.I would have to get 2 separate ds9 handguns if i wanted to shoot idpa with it.Idpa versuon doesn't have a full length dust cover on it and is lighter than uspsa version.I just want the slide stop just in case
The club will let me shoot action pistol with it.At that point i could shoot the gun for something other than just uspsa.Which brand of extended mag release is it and have you found yourself dropping mags by accident? Thanks for all the help i appreciate it!.

@@timothygarrity5181The DS9 had a normal slide stop but I put the Nitro Fin thumbrest on it. Sorry, but I don't remember the brand of the extended mag release. I ordered it from shooters connection. Recently I have been gripping the gun higher and have accidentally dropped mags so I just removed it. I will either shorten it or go without it.

With smaller hands i would probably have to shift it more in my hand to get to the mag release. If i had the extended mag release it sounds like i might drop mags as well. How often were you dropping mags?.I would probably need extended mag release either way.Tough one there.I definitely have to be able to reach the release unless i really shift the gun in my hand.

@@timothygarrity5181I only dropped it once my last match. However, next time I practiced, I dropped them about 4 times. Which is strange as I owned 2 MPA's and it had never happened before. I don't think it would be an issue if I made it a little shorter or had the paddle up at about 12 o'clock but I am just keeping it off for now.

Sorry, but your video has terrible lighting; the black case of the MPA completely washed the black pistol away.
Can barely see either gun but the MPA is almost invisible.
