My parents took me to see Porky’s when it came out, I was 13. My mother walked out because it disgusted her, my father and I stayed and watched the whole thing and laughing our asses off 🤣🤣
When my Grandma got her VCR we rented Porky's. Imagine watching Porky's at like 10 years old with your grandma. It's something to laugh about now. Good times I miss her.
Porky's was a rite of passage for those of us born in the 70's, teens in the 80's. I still laugh when I watch the first one, that dang office scene where Ballbricker is describing one of the guys, you know what, and the coaches and principal loosing it and 😂
Not too long after seeing that movie, one there was a substitute teacher in gym class who asked everyone to write their name down on a sheet of paper as we entered the gym. Of course, I wrote down Mike Hunt in addition to my own name, and when he called it out, the whole class burst out laughing. He just lowered his head for a moment and said, "Oh, yeah.".
I went to high school with Dan Monahan. He was our student council President. I've seen this movie at least 15 times. Looking forward to seeing him at our 50th high school reunion the weekend of August 12th!
really? he does look good for a guy his age. i wish he hadn't retired being an actor i've always enjoyed his work and my favorite role of his would be Up The Creek (1984) a classic that is vastly underrated i think. anyways i do hope you see him
I loved the original film. It's nice to see that the cast did other great things, but sad to see that we've lost a few over the years. God bless them for what they gave us.
Tony Ganios and I were friends going back in the eighties! We both trained at World Gym in Santa Monica! Owned by the late great Joe Gold of the famed "Gold's" gym! Tony was a powerlifter and I was a bodybuilder! Very strong and a nice guy! His buddy Ken Whal would come to World from time to time! Tony's co star in "The Wanderer's! Tony had a 1970 426 hemi Cuda and I had a 1967 full race Camaro! He is half Greek and Italian! And I am full Greek on both sides of my parents! Sure do miss those days! Thank you brother. I loved reading your post. Me being half Greek, I always respected Tony and his journey all the way from "Leave tha kid alone" to his sad passing. Stay safe bro!
I saw the original when I was 14 or 15 and I loved it. Second one wasn’t quite as good, but I enjoyed. Third one was kind of meh, but maybe it had something to do with me getting older. There’s a great story surrounding the first Porky’s: The director, Bob Clark, had been shopping this other movie project that he really liked, but no studio would finance it. He directed Porky’s, and then it became a surprise hit. The studio execs wanted a sequel and asked Clark to do it, but he said he’d only agree to the movie if they first agreed to green-light the movie he had been shopping around, and they said OK. The name of that movie Clark finally got to direct? A Christmas Story.
The exchange between Principal Carter and Rev Bubba Flavel over Shakespeare and the Bible is absolutely hilarious and quite clever. "Thus sayeth the flock!" "Get the flock outa here!"
The with Bula in the principals office want a lineup of the boys naked was absolutely priceless. I could watch it thousand and would still make me laugh
First 2 films were great, the last one, well it served it's purpose. I was 17 when Porky's came out, and this review truly brings back a truckload of memories from yesteryear !! Its always great to think about the best of times in ones life, back to the days when your worries were almost non-existent, maybe going on a date with the schools most beautiful girl, and being on time for a varsity basketball practice! 😅 Thanks for the memory incentives, they truly are priceless... GBY all !!!❤🇺🇲🤗😎
Truly. If only we knew how good we really had it in that last final stretch of childhood(16 - 18). In the moment, in our stupidity, all we can think of is: hurry, hurry, gotta grow up! It's such a sad summary of the human condition that we are given youth and ability, long before we are granted the wisdom recognize that. I think it was Mark Twain that said: "It's such a pity that youth is wasted on the young."
