Congratulation am an italian alfista and that video make me so proud of my alfaromeo 😍😍😍😍😍 love american people i have fami,y there and i came to visit for 2 months next week 😍😍😍
when I truly enjoy the engineering and performance of cars it really shows. It is so rewarding to see and hear so many people around the world who watch these videos and buy the cars as a result of me sharing my passion and experience. Alfa Romeo dealers all over the world play my videos in their showrooms and service centers and that's just cool.
Auto Fanatic you are truly a car enthusiast. Alfa Romeo needs people like you who really understand the value of a top notch chassis or engine over stupid, close to useless electronic gadgets like Germans have to make their cars attractive and technological, but actually to hide a poor mechanical design. Real problem is that most customers don’t see this. So your contribution is absolutely important to spread around the right words on this great brand. BTW I’m driving my second Stelvio Diesel and I’m absolutely happy!
Outstanding video as usual Phil, thanks for the shout out. She runs better since you drove her, feels super broken in. I love the way you made her sing, I never get tired of hearing that exhaust note. Thanks to Jerry, he allowed me to pilot his drone, that was awesome.
Great vid. I’ve had a Stelvio quad for 8 months, best car I have owned - I traded in an Aston DB9 for this and have had more reliable, fast fun despite it being an SUV! Unreal.
Really? How long did you have the DB9 for? I have a Vantage and have been considering the Stelvio as a replacement as we have our first baby, and don’t know if I want to add a car payment.
I took the Stelvio Quadrifoglio for a test drive yesterday from my dealership on Long Island(Browns)and really enjoyed driving it. Definitely intoxicating, Phil.
Great review AF. I've been waiting for ages for this one. I love watching the reviews of the Alfa Romeos, especially the QVs and how the testers are genuinely overwhelmed at the performance and handling of these cars. They all laugh at the thrill of driving these brilliant automobiles. Passionate cars for passionate drivers! Forza Alfa Romeo!
Great video! Shared this with my buddy who owns an identical Stelvio QV down in South Carolina...and I own a fully-optioned (and I mean FULLY) Stelvio TI Sport up in Wisconsin! We both love our Stelvios...such amazing SUVs.
Good call on the $15-17K off the QV’s! I finally pulled the trigger on a 2018 Giulia QV last month after turning in my Ti lease. Your videos definitely inspired me! And for anyone wondering if the upgrade is worth it from a Ti to a QV?: YES!!!
this one we had fun with and I had some help with extra cameras so moving forward we want to just keep making these even better. do not try to driver your wifes Stelvio now like I did here ha ha ha
I agree completely with your assessment. Unfortunately it's been a hard sell to the American public, who despite our blathering about sport, isn't really into performance cars. They want attention and bragging rights, actually driving on a curvy road scares them.. Alfa is still too unknown to appeal. I've had a Stelvio for 18 months. Love the car, no problems at all. I'm in the market for a QF, but won't buy new at this time. They are great cars. Thanks for the vid.
lol @10:25 minutes, love it how you said your reviews are not about cup holders, cigarette lighters, usb ports. Reviews should only be about performance and value and heritage...I agree! I would add that I don't care about getting mileage beyond 30+ mpg...that would just be a bonus.
ha ha ha yeah believe it or not that was one of the reasons I started this channel was about guys not understanding performance cars and what they are meant for, my Shelby GT350 started it all and MPG should never be part of any conversation with a performance car. Glad you enjoyed this new video.
Una maravilla este Stelvio, que se puede decir de el que no hayan alabado ya todos los medios. Una autentica bestia parda, acompañado de un diseño sublime. Un preciosidad. El Suv que nunca podre odiar, je, je...Saludos.
A great video of my dream SUV. I enjoyed a lot watching you drive with this incredible machine. How I wish I have the money for a luxury SUV and I wouldn't think twice for this car compared to some other brand. This was my ultimate riding experience watching you video.👌👌👌🏎🏎🏎
I am thing about buying one of these for the ride height because I live in tahoe with snow and potholes. Thanks for not talking about apple car play and all the feature and tech BS. This is just the video I have been searching for. I have owned four audi s4s all manual and modded. . I am terrified of being bored with an auto trans but you did a great job of communicating the driving experience of the stelvio quad. I am much closer to pulling the trigger after watching your video. Thanks
Man, you are the only american car guy I follow on youtube. You said it all here :"I dont care about lighters, usb ports, etc" and that what many guys are looking for to pick on cars, especially if they are not german cars. Who wants a radio if you own a Quadrifoglio? You are down to earth and you talk about whats important in a car not about gadgets and nonsense. Like that Doug de Mouro... I cant stand that guy. Many car "reviewers" in the world know nothing about cars. If its not german....they just trash talk. Its all about the brand. Germans is just branding and nothing else. Loads of issues with german cars but people feel embarassed to mention that. Lol Try get your hand on an Abarth 595 and do what you do that is very honest reviews. By the way, whats your name? Great job man, thanks.... even i will never be able to afford something like those cars, i feel like i have just been there with you..... thanks again, now i go back to, my 2003. Alfa Romeo 156 SW. Cheers from Serbia
A lot of what you said was on the money - but I have a 2019 Quad., and it’s German rivals are not for drivers in the same way, too heavy, too dull. The Alfa is stunning. I’m a racer 👍
@@autofanaticcars Hi AF - I'm trading in my Alfa 2017 4C and 2019 Stelvio Ti Sport for the new Stelvio Quad today. But I've actually been a bit down thinking about not having the 4C. Have you driven both and do you think I'll get the same satisfaction from the Quad? I haven't seen any videos from you on the 4C. Given the existing times and my limited space for storage (only 2 car garage) I feel like the Stelvio QV will be a great fit. I've already owned a Giulia and loved it, but just not enough room. I've had zero issues with all 3 of the cars to this point. Appreciate your feedback.
My friend has the 4C and i have driven it many times, the car for me in NYC is terrible to drive and very unstable and i personally dislike the paddle shifter gearbox and how quick you hit the RPM limiter. I wish the 4C had a NA engine with high reving with manual gearbox. Every time I drive it fast and hit the smallest bump i feel the car is going to hit the guard rail or a tree on the parkway and i just dislike cars that make me nervous driving. I have heard there is a company in Europe who sells a kit to revise the entire suspension to make it more stable i am trying to convince my friend to do it. We just did the ECU tune on his 4C and some other carbon parts. I will be showing it again soon on the channel. The Stelvio QV is awesome but if you get the itch for another 2 seater one day look into the Fiat Abarth Spyder there lots of fun with some mods i worked on one months back and posted videos on my channel here so check those out. Enjoy the Stelvio.
Looks like Phil is having fun. Actually thinking of trading in my Guilia Quadrfoligio for the Stelvio. Roads here in New England like freakin’ driving on the moon.
the Stelvio QV def soaks up the roads and i was on some very rough broken patches in this video but i still love my Giulia, so for me having the new Ti Sport Stelvio gives me options for the day.
He realized the AC was on and turned it off for a couple of key blasts. Pro move. Subbed and liked. Got a 2022 in Misano Blue but think I should have hunted down a Montreal Green.
You should consider doing an episode with your friends red Giulia QV. I think people may be interested to see how that one is spec’d out. Great video. Amazing car!
As always, a great video of what sounds like an awesome car. Thanks for keeping the passion alive and us informed. You continue to amaze with your well documented narratives. Thank you, so very much!
Very informative video indeed. Do you like the drive and control of the Giulia better than the Stelvio? Is the Stelvio ride a bit bumpy and what about the body roll? Thx
15:47 'Well under a hundred grand' ... You lucky people.... ;-)) I had to pay over € 135.000,- for my Stelvio Q in the Netherlands. By the way .... driving constant on normal roads in R -mode is quite dangerous.... all the safety features are switched off then.... i've got a switch with which I can open the two valves in every mode (D,N, and A) for the 'R' sound..... The MB GLE and BMW X5M are bigger SUV's. Compare the Stelvio Q with the MB GLC 63 S and BMW X3M. The Stelvio Q beats all 4 of them by the way ... ;-))
I have stelvio veloce 2.2 diesel 210cv in italy, I have family in new jersey close to new york and im caming next week november 21th if you are close to manhattan I would like to know you in Person and take a coffe... i like your videos I'm an alfista since ever, I'm 35 years old 😍😍😍😍 I had alfaromeo 147, the 159, the giulietta and now stelvio 😍
Ah Thanks for feedback on the stelvio soaking up those pot holes. Lucky man having the option of either the bad quad or that milder but fun stelvio ti. Hey oh yeah I need some more of that AF wheel cleaner. It’s been great stuff with the k9 sprayer. Highly recommended to all.
I have a 2018 qv and unsure if I should keep it so far the car has been bulletproof but am unsure if I should keep it do to dealership maintenance concerns I hear the 18 /19 models have engine problems smh love the car but don’t want the headache if it comes what should I do
if you are all about high performance and drive cars hard like I do then yes, if you are not that type of driver the Ti Sport is awesome as well which is why we also have one for versatility.
AF looking at the late model used market here in the PNW. When did they start putting in the high output engine and suspension. Great drive and review.
Great SUV!!! It’s what I’m looking at if and when I’m able to afford it. That or the Macan Turbo, but the Quads can be found really “cheap” which is amazing, and they are unique. My only concern is the reliability issues C&D and other reviewers and even many owners talk about. What’s your opinion on that or maybe even Mr Roberto’s experience with it? Thanks Also, for NJ/NY area, Giulia Quad or Stelvio Quad, If you don’t really need an SUV?
one of the most reliable cars i ever owned and this is across the board with guys i know, the magazines abuse cars and have no clue which is why their test cars are always broken.
Auto Fanatic Thanks! So Giulia QV or Stelvio QV? I love the rear look of the Giulia, but the AWD and overall look of the Stelvio. Also I think there are better offers on the Stelvios
my concern with buying one as a daily driver is reliability i love alfas in the past i have owned a few gtv6s a milano Verde and a 164s would have loved to own the all wheel drive Q4 164 but i do not think that was imported to the US i hurt my back so it is hard for me to work on my own cars now until i have another surgery to help get better i may just dream of owning 1 and get an audi s6 or s7 with the 4 liter V8
you can not compare Alfa from the past to these new cars today they are not even in the same class of engineering. once you spend time in one you will get it and want to buy one.
I love my Stelvio Rosso Competizione Colored QV. I ordered mine in Feb 2018, and it arrived in June 2018. The only thing I wish I could change is to lower it to reduce the huge wheel gap. Any ideas how to get around that with the active damping system?
@@autofanaticcarsThanks for the response. I have been stalking the Madness site for some time now. Their springs specifically say for non-QV versions. There must be a reason why no manufacture makes lowering springs for the Stelvio QV.
send an email to Kw Germany asking if their Guilia QV springs would work, I have seen lots of lowered Stelvios all over the net so they are using somebody springs.
I have a question for u, my driver seat on my Q50 RED SPORTstart squeaking when i do turns and even on bumpy road i can hear squeaking, it sounds like coming from the seat material underneath or could be a spring or something, i am not sure, its very irritating i feel like i am sitting in 1996 Ford Bronco lol, any suggestion or tips? i know u have a video about rattles how to fix them but i have a seat issue
I don't believe the chassis are the same (unless you mean the actual body structure). I've been under my SQ and the entire rear suspension is aluminum whereas the 4cyl models have some steel components in the assembly. Obviously springs and dampers are all different as would be bushings.
the 2.0 models use a steel rear subframe and aluminum front subframe and the QV uses an aluminum front and rear subframe. QV has adaptive shock and of course different springs, brakes and wheels and tires but the platforms are identical overall.
Unfortunately i do not ever see these new Alfa, Maseratis or even Jaguar and Bentley holding their values in the long run. these brands i mentioned seem to have the highest depreciation on the Euro segment for well over 10 years.
today we parked our Stelvio next to the GLE and new Infinity SUV and the Stelvio was pretty much the same size as the Merc and larger than the Infiniti QX50 i think its just the right size for this type of vehicle anything larger will be heavy and nowhere near as this much fun to drive.
Why everyone pronounce Quadrifoglio so bad? Come on guys, go here and learn how to pronounce it: translate.google.com/#view=home&op=translate&sl=it&tl=en&text=quadrifoglio Other than that very good video. It is very interesting how people react to Alfa Romeo, but when you drive an Alfa for so many years this is simply the only way the car should drive and perform, everything that does not offer this kind of involvement simply does not count as a serious car.
if you think any new Mercedes is more reliable you obviously have never spent time in any local MB service center versus an Alfa center, its like night and day with hundreds of cars in any MB or BMW center at all days of the week where as 1/3 in an Alfa center. the German cars reliability ended a long time ago as they are now competing in a much tougher market these days
Auto Fanatic say that to my current E63 AMG with it brutal 4.0 liter V8 biturbo. I have 56k miles and car drives like brand new. My previous E55 AMG was totaled with 258k miles. I don’t know where you get your info that Mercedes isn’t reliable. Will be trading my sedan for the GLC63s! My E63 does the quarter mile in 10.7 seconds with Renntech tune. Without the tune 11.3 seconds. No Alfa can touch that. The GLC63s dispatch the Alfa in every youtube video.
go visit MB NYC service center or any in the NY Tri State, they have so many cars at MB NYC they work 24hr service shifts around the clock , i lemoned my E63 it was that bad. every brand goes through there own issues but the stigma of everyone thinking Alfa Romeo today is like the 1980s and 90s is so wrong.
Auto Fanatic everyone I know buy their Mercedes new including myself. All my friends have luck with Mercedes including myself. I used to drive Japanese and thinking they make the best cars but Mercedes proof me wrong. I will never buy any other brand except the best or nothing!!
@Jon Doe ... faster? I don't think so..... Even with 6 cilinders in stead of the 8 of the GLC 63S AMG the QF wins....... ;-)) ua-cam.com/video/FVeLww9Fb7k/v-deo.html
these are are not unreliable this one shown here has 22k of the hardest NYC abuse and not one thing wrong with it to date. listen to actual owners not paid media outlets who bash the brand.
never wanted and SUV ................ and then I watched all the reviews on the Stelvio (all models, not just the Q). Alas, it won't happen for me but it looks like so much fun to be behind the wheel of........................... oh well we can't have it all I guess. I have seen a few Stelvios where I live in the UK and in the flesh they look great, and to know that the driver is enjoying it so much is a pleasure to see.

Also, for NJ/NY area, Giulia Quad or Stelvio Quad, If you don’t really need an SUV?
one of the most reliable cars i ever owned and this is across the board with guys i know, the magazines abuse cars and have no clue which is why their test cars are always broken.
Auto Fanatic Thanks! So Giulia QV or Stelvio QV? I love the rear look of the Giulia, but the AWD and overall look of the Stelvio. Also I think there are better offers on the Stelvios
🇮🇹🍀❤️
my concern with buying one as a daily driver is reliability i love alfas in the past i have owned a few gtv6s a milano Verde and a 164s would have loved to own the all wheel drive Q4 164 but i do not think that was imported to the US i hurt my back so it is hard for me to work on my own cars now until i have another surgery to help get better i may just dream of owning 1 and get an audi s6 or s7 with the 4 liter V8
you can not compare Alfa from the past to these new cars today they are not even in the same class of engineering. once you spend time in one you will get it and want to buy one.
I love my Stelvio Rosso Competizione Colored QV. I ordered mine in Feb 2018, and it arrived in June 2018. The only thing I wish I could change is to lower it to reduce the huge wheel gap. Any ideas how to get around that with the active damping system?
lowering springs Madness has Stelvio QV springs in two versions i would do the 1 inch version not the 2+ nich drop to preserve the dampening
Order one for the missis in red please 🤣...when our numbers come in !
You rater pick a 2020 stelvio quadrifoglio or a 2019 audi rs5 sportback ?
the Audi should not even be a consideration, not kidding ha ha ha
@Auto Fanatic it's this much fun to drive ? Wow, a tough the rs5 would compete a little !
What are summer tires 🛞?
I have a question for u, my driver seat on my Q50 RED SPORTstart squeaking when i do turns and even on bumpy road i can hear squeaking, it sounds like coming from the seat material underneath or could be a spring or something, i am not sure, its very irritating i feel like i am sitting in 1996 Ford Bronco lol, any suggestion or tips? i know u have a video about rattles how to fix them but i have a seat issue
@guess what im only 175lb so its not weight issue

@@autofanaticcars thanks
I don't believe the chassis are the same (unless you mean the actual body structure). I've been under my SQ and the entire rear suspension is aluminum whereas the 4cyl models have some steel components in the assembly. Obviously springs and dampers are all different as would be bushings.
the 2.0 models use a steel rear subframe and aluminum front subframe and the QV uses an aluminum front and rear subframe. QV has adaptive shock and of course different springs, brakes and wheels and tires but the platforms are identical overall.
So based on where Alfa/Fiat are going etc, would buying this hold its market value even with usage ?
Unfortunately i do not ever see these new Alfa, Maseratis or even Jaguar and Bentley holding their values in the long run. these brands i mentioned seem to have the highest depreciation on the Euro segment for well over 10 years.
Auto Fanatic being it’s such a nieche market that’s such a shame
22thousand New York City Miles... Damn... never heard of those metrics =) 4:32
that's like 100+k miles in a smoother part of the world like AZ or Florida. NYC destroys cars quickly.
@@autofanaticcars Pretty much the same here in Eastern Europe, also "our" cars tend to do quite a bit of "off-roading"
yes my friends in that part of Europe always compare the roads to NYC.
so 22k NYC Miles translate to about 22k Russian Fedaration Miles. Now it makes sense. Thx for clarifying.
Alfa car for Alpha male.
Alfas have two of them with the wrong wheel drive but great cars
This seems glc sized not gle. It feels better than the merc but it feels like a compact crossover not a suv
today we parked our Stelvio next to the GLE and new Infinity SUV and the Stelvio was pretty much the same size as the Merc and larger than the Infiniti QX50 i think its just the right size for this type of vehicle anything larger will be heavy and nowhere near as this much fun to drive.
Love this car. Thank goodness it's won't hold it value. In 3 years I'll get a low mileage 2019 at a huge savings.
you can get one even a year old for 25K plus off MSRP
I don't want my adrenalin amped whenever I drive. Cool car though
‘It’s a new brand … ‘ 🙄🤣🇮🇹 x
Talk about reliability Mr. Reviewer.
watch my 1 year review video and that will answer your concerns.
@@autofanaticcars Cant find it :(
Puzzling why they can’t make a proper braking system. That modulation is objectively flawed and unacceptable
i agree they had the engineers from Ferrari develop this platform only to be handicapped with the terrible braking system.
Why everyone pronounce Quadrifoglio so bad? Come on guys, go here and learn how to pronounce it:

Other than that very good video. It is very interesting how people react to Alfa Romeo, but when you drive an Alfa for so many years this is simply the only way the car should drive and perform, everything that does not offer this kind of involvement simply does not count as a serious car.
I appreciate the car but still an SUV. No driver's sports car here.
go drive one thats all i can say.
GLC63s is more reliable and faster as well. Mercedes is heavier and well built as well.
if you think any new Mercedes is more reliable you obviously have never spent time in any local MB service center versus an Alfa center, its like night and day with hundreds of cars in any MB or BMW center at all days of the week where as 1/3 in an Alfa center. the German cars reliability ended a long time ago as they are now competing in a much tougher market these days
@Jon Doe
... faster? I don't think so..... Even with 6 cilinders in stead of the 8 of the GLC 63S AMG the QF wins....... ;-)) ua-cam.com/video/FVeLww9Fb7k/v-deo.html
seems nice but never want to own one.... too unreliable
these are are not unreliable this one shown here has 22k of the hardest NYC abuse and not one thing wrong with it to date. listen to actual owners not paid media outlets who bash the brand.
@@autofanaticcars or you could just go to stelvio forum and read the slew of problems owners or having
@Ryan Lynch Buddy just say you can't afford the car I love my stelvio QV best suv on earth 🍀🍀
never wanted and SUV ................ and then I watched all the reviews on the Stelvio (all models, not just the Q). Alas, it won't happen for me but it looks like so much fun to be behind the wheel of........................... oh well we can't have it all I guess. I have seen a few Stelvios where I live in the UK and in the flesh they look great, and to know that the driver is enjoying it so much is a pleasure to see.
