I planted an Oro Negro in the fall. I ordered it from Florida. It came 3 feet tall, grafted. It's growing very well here in Thousand Oaks, CA. Fingers crossed, I'll get fruit fall 2024. It's a late season variety in Florida.

Oro negro is amazing variety. It has a little sweet component that I'm not crazy about. I like more savory nutty, but texture and consistency are incredible. They say it could be a complex hybrid of all three genotypes. I'm really excited to see how it does in Cali.

My wurtz has red specs on new growth.
Other varieties have the spec also...if you think you got a Kona and it does NOT have the specs then you for sure don't have a Kona. Hopefully you got some fruit on the Wurtz...thanks for watching!
Use lead pencil on those white tags. It will be more permanent than the permanent markers. Won't fade and water and UV proof.

@@AvocadoTalk I wrote you twice on this thread, but for some reason they didn't go through. Glad to see your Oro Negro is doing okay. I have 2 that are coming along nicely. Also, the JB is looking good, and I have an SC Gold on order from Epicenter. Congrats on the persimmon. A beautiful tree and nice addition. Just put up my 50% shade cloth over my tomato garden. I'm thinking about adding a mango tree to the collection. The heat is coming!! Keep yourself and your trees hydrated.

The Malama variety is from a seed of the Kahalu’u avocado tree. It bears fruit every year and is supposed to be similar in taste to the Kahalu’u, which is saying something, and the fruit is purple when ripe.
My malama tree isn’t in a good spot and it’s not doing well.

I got a nimlioh from eli's nursery a year ago. AJ (Graftman) said it is almost like Reed. I got it because the name sounds so cool!!
