I always liked the griffon design from Dragon’s Dogma. The use of the white bald eagle to add a demarcation between the head and neck, the brown of the eagle half resembling the mane of a lion, the feathers throughout the body to blend the bird and mammal parts together, even the projections of the beak resembling teeth and the non-avian eyes and ears to add that touch of menace.
