MultiVersus is finally back, and after eight hours with the game I have some thoughts. It's still fun, but there's a lot that needs to be improved for the health of the game.

These were all very fair points Nosy, and I hope at least SOME get implemented soonish.
A small nitpick I have is that, the stage music doesn't change when it's Match Point. I loved that tbh, cause it gave a sense of urgency, and differentiated the game from other Platfighters. The only stage that does this still is Dexter's Lab. I really hope they bring it back to the rest of the stages

I played these 2 past days and i honestly got used to the speed . It's waaaay more skill based now not just button mashing. But i gotta say the zoom is painful i wanna see the whole map
I got used to the speed as well, but I think they could still afford to make the game a liiiiiiittle bit faster without compromising the core gameplay. The zoom in 1v1s is pretty tough yeah.

Need a camera setting. That’s my biggest problem. Also cosmetics suck horribly. They lack creativity in that department.
Being able to play every character in training mode and local vs is definitely a must for me. I really want to try out Joker and Jason. I would also like to use any character in the rifts mode. There are some challenges that require the use of a specific character that may or may not be unlocked yet, which is pretty frustrating. I guess it's to add replayability to the mode, but it's mostly a single player mode so having access to every character makes sense to me.
Yeah, as far as the speed goes... I'm pretty happy with it. THAT SAID, I think there's a very simple change that could be made and that's to the hitstop/hitpause.
If they were to return that back to where it was in the open beta, I think that would speed things up a LOT for everyone.
Also, BAM said it best when he said that because of the changes to dodge and the dodge meter, making everything SOOOO slow isn't as necessary as it might have been before those changes. So even a general game speed increase could still work. I just think if they simply change the hitstop, it would do a lot to make the game feel less sluggish.
I honestly think making dashes go a little further would do a lot, they’re pretty stubby now. With the burnout system I think the game could have maintained its speed, I agree with that for sure.
10:58 the controls section has gotten smaller than the beta for what reason. Part of my enjoyment is being hampered cuz i spent over 100 hrs playing with swap neutral and side attack on and now the feature is gone (presumably because of dash attack)

Personal experience on Xbox has been pretty awful altleast in 2v2s.
Was playing really early this morning thinking the servers would be better when peak is down but I’ve gotten disconnected in atleast 8 games.
I heard Xbox release was pretty brutal, but I was on PS5 so I can’t say.
I like game speed being slower so its more skillful, but I agree with you. It could be sped up just a tad bit more. I wish the neutral atk and side atks were swapped though. It there a way to bind your controller that way? Ill be walking rowards to opponent and end up doing the charging atk instead of the regular side lights chains.
I’ve been playing banana guard all day but the (play banana guard twice) mission hasn’t filled up at all is this a glitch or am I missing something

This review basically sums up my own thoughts on the game. I was actually playing the game prior to watching this review and I had to check and see if the speed was as bad as people were saying. Honestly? It’s not THAT bad. Sure, I think they should tweak it a liiiiitle bit, but I think some people are being overdramatic. Here’s hoping the feedback makes the game better!
The game looks so much smoother everywhere i watch it. It's very glitchy playing on Xbox

It’s fine it they want to make fighting more skill based and focused on deliberate actions, but the speed doesn’t need to be this slow. Dodges shouldn’t lose momentum as you use them, there shouldn’t be a 39 frame input buffer between moves. It doesn’t help make anything skill based, it just makes it harder to do what you want. Just look at Taz, he’s struggling in this patch cause of these changes

One Bad thing is that we don't have the last point themes of the cromulon Map it was so cool .

im waiting on swap neutral and side attack to be an option again my muscle memory is making the game way to hard to play right now because i got used to the other control scheme it just odd that its gone now.
Same, it seems counter intuitive the way they have it. I also keep getting the side atk charging atk often when going for the regular side atk chains especially when moving my character forward.
@@machinayrequiem8596 i know right! the ability to swap the input would remove accidental dash attacks assuming it doesn't swap too but considering we used to have that option for grounded and air attack i think one extra check box for swap dash attack is likely assuming we get the option back to begin with.
3:13 Banana Guard is actually a BEAST unironically😂. Easy to play and lowkey busted.
Havent played Joker yet but Jason feels good too. He's just so damn BIG so his hit box is hard to get used to. Some of his attacks also feels slow as well

For the Garnet skin, I just had to restart the game, despite having the extra glemium
i think the amount of time you claim them and actually get them in game variates person to person for example I know a cou6that got it and some got it like 7 hours after etc

For me, the online has been a bit laggy, which might be my computer, but it's also crashed like 20 times
Edit: Just watched the video and I agree with most of your critiques, I will add that the new systems of currency are incredibly confusing
EDIT: 10:38 OH THAT'S IT!!! when i do something during some animation the game makes it so it MUST come out right after that even if i gave up, it's SO ANNOYING, i feel stuck.
Are controls really fine??
Because to me it feels like there's something wrong, if you press an attack button ONE more time than needed in the middle of a combo you'll be FORCED to do it again even if you didn't want to.
Sometimes i do a combo and my plan is to run after that and then i'm stuck doing some neutral... That REALLY feels bad, i often feel very stuck playing this game, i keep getting stuck in moves i didn't wanna do, that doesn't happen to me in other games.
It was so much better, but i still have hope , i love the game either way and want it to grow ...BUT
The speed of the game being lowerd is not that bad
But the servers are broken , 2v2 with invited friends is broken
Characters kill too early
The monitization is starting to show its predatoryness
Before you had all characters unlocked on training or local , now you need them to play local or test them on the training mode
They should at least have a refund character gems option
The rift mode is predatory , you need certain characters or PAID COSMETICS to get an extra "star"
And agent smith is not unlockable at all , the dificulty options are terrible cuz you need a certain gem lvl to unlock the next dificulty WICH IS THE EXACT SAME AS THE LAST DIFICULTY BUT A LITTLE HARDER ... thats IT
Characters are buggy , garnet down special can bug ant trap you and your opponent in the air forever
I cant fathom how many times i got kicked from a match cuz of server issues on 2v2s (its not my wifi cuz in 1v1s it works perfectly for me and my friend)
But whenever we get in a match together the game plays at 10 fps or one of us gets kicked and it happens VERY OFTEN
the game feels laggy and delayed .... and the speed imo was better before , but i do think a middle ground would be perfect , now its too slow , and before was a bit too fast

Agreed to most. Personally I liked the old speed, but they took that away as well as the slide-jump boost you could do to close the distance faster. With the cosmetic mission in rift mode I thought surely that skin will be free down the line right? Nope. "Player First Games?" More like "Money First Games."
There are perks to increase movement speed i think, right?
Yeah but it's only 5% and it just changes run speed, not other aspects of the character.

My only problems so far are that i'm forced to do daily missions to progress the BP, the 2v2 servers are really bad, and i can't switch characters between rematches.
We need jump canceling and instant fast fall. Our movement and options just seem so restricted

You don’t, they used to be available offline though.
You have to play the game and collect the "fighter currency". You can get all of them for free, it just takes time.
Sorry, I might be wrong if you meant alternate skins. I thought you were talking about the characters themselves.

Edit:okay I played it, speed is perfectly fine you get used to it in like five minutes, the game crashes randomly which is infuriating and finally, no Free For All, why? Why would they do that?
Yeah I hope they change that ASAP, it was one of my favorite features of the game.
They said they are trying to unlock them offline, so it isnt too bad

Game is laggy and I can't change servers. I should be able to choose Europe server like I could in the Beta. So many baffling changes and choices.
I'm really loving the game, got used to the speed pretty easily
2 things for me
No playing a normal 1v1 against bots it looks like besides customs which is weird
And there is no reason at all to play normal 1v1 and 2v2 like in the beta you got gold every match now you get nothing like just 10 fighter currency per match would be better.
The Little gold made me want to play because it told me I could always get new characters just my playing a bunch and I know it worked because I had like 17 thousand gold by just playing little matches they need to put a award in so people will play

I love how the first thing you brought up was how you can't play any character in the offline modes, as that is certainly the worst thing about the game so far. Sure, players complain about the speed of the game, but this is a way bigger issue imo. I want to be able to try out fighters before I commit to buying them. Also, think about the new players who don't know how any of the characters feel who have to commit to a character that they don't even know they'll enjoy. It's messed up and needs to be changed. Beta was so much better for it, too.
It was sad to see Multiversus launch in such a messy state. I hope PFG acts fast and does some much needed bug fixing and getting rid of the buffer/input lag.
I got MK1 when it gane out. This game came out amazingly compared to that.
5:07 Agreed tbh. Kinda ruins the fun. Let the characters offline be free and have the paid versions for online. I mean offline is for you and your family and friends...why lock us to specific characters!? Cause at the same time the BOTS are NOT locked so what!?😭

Im most concerned with how it plays on xbox, the desynchronizations and the disconnects. I literally just flew off the platform, off the map and eliminated myself because the game froze and lagged mid flight (Black Adam), and by the time it unfroze I eliminated myself. This happens a lot mid combos too. I can't connect a lot of my blows because im lagging hard and randomly.
I agree lobbies are important also.
I feel that knocking an enemy out vertically has become too powerful. Right now most opponents are seeking to float you and knock you airborne and out. I believe that the vertical limit point should be increased, especially on smaller and multi platform matches.
I'm also losing matches that i legitimately won. For example, me and another random player were in a match. Both enemies were afk and we quickly eliminated them to move on. The game stated that I lost the pvp match. Conversely, desync shouldn't cause a loss or win either. Right now the fact that wins are counted as losses and losses are counted as wins.... (Both of which have happened to me) Is insane.
I disagree on having ranked mode active in its current state. Xbox players especially are lagging especially bad and the game cant even consistently state whether a player wins or loses.
They needed to fix these issues first before they enabled ranked because players who are lagging or otherwise experiencing gameplay issues due to the state of the game are at an automatic disadvantage.
Imagine winning a match you barely won despite hard lag and then the game ranks you down because it counted it as a loss. That's not a fun nor fair experience.
Just my input on this.
I don't like how i can only really grind currency out in pvp tbh i don't like pvp that's my only complaint really we need a way to grind currency in pve because those rift nodes can't be grinded im pr sure
Also playing against friends allowed grinding currency and stuff too wth changed?
The game has personal gotten a lot less competitive for me we loss stuff while people were always spamming mash we loss thing like wave dash and attack cancel so it kinda sucks
If I’m being honest, (I say this as a Brawlhalla player myself), playing this game feels like trying to swim in molasses. Whatever reason they have for slowing the game down so much CAN’T be worth the amount of players they’re going to lose just because of how shockingly and uncomfortably slow it feels, ESPECIALLY when switching over from fast fighting games like Brawlhalla or Melee.
I really enjoyed MVS during Open beta on UE4.. Changing into UE5 is where PFG dropped the ball. Regardless of how it feels the game is worst of now objectively. Because they rebuilt they game from the ground up we're struggling to catch up AGAIN. You mention the meta changing When Bugs,WW, Harley and Joker are very much on top of the tiers. They over corrected the previous build just needed some work it was entirely broken to need this level of "fixing". I was hoping for a grand return and they floundered epically, extremely mediocre. They started all over instead of taking the feedback that they received and iterated on it. Dan Eder contributed incredibly to the look of the game and it was very stylized so lighting and graphical overhaul wasn't really necessary.. Given the year hiatus and how its actually worst, its safe to say that mvs came back to die a slow miserable uninspired death

Day #2 and the game is still unplayable on Xbox. Lagging out, crashing to dashboard, low frame rates. I cant even make an opinion on the game speed because i cant even play the game..?? Also where is the post round stats like damage and KO...???
they nerfed my iron giant so hard😭pretty much my thoughts exactly though, the game feels a lot more complete now gameplay wise, but they ruined a lot of the menus and profiles and the like. i hate that it looks like fortnite now.
I've mained Iron Giant since day 1 in the open beta, Iron Giant actually feels way stronger now. I completely demolish people with him, when I can actually get into a game and that's with very bad lag and low frame rates.
@@daymianhayes2493 to me the only move that feels buffed is the normal neutral, it bounces a lot more and seems to come out faster. which is cool for combos but everything else feels worse to me now. i def feel he should be the slowest character in the game but any of the frame lag you feel for other characters is multiplied by 10 with him.
@@greeneyeballs I noticed you can spam the missiles in rage alot faster now. Also he can use his up special that spins the cars around faster after other moves, so it seems he can combo better. His movements definitely feels slower, but his actual attacks feel alot faster.
its so bad not only is the online still shit on series x. it feels worse to me than before. the speed change had me worried but now ive got my hands on it i simply dont find it fun at the speed its at. Feels like i got robbed or something. spent hundreds of hours on the beta and the reason alot of the longer time players liked this game was how crazy the movement was. now the movement is completely dfferent feels like im wading thru hummus or mud. Fighting games need to have a high skill ceiling or they will be boring to competitive players.

Sounds like your opinion is not honest - the game feels like ass I played the regular beta right before and moving around with a zoomed out camera and moving fast made the game so much better. Also they ruined the beautiful Ui and made the game Fortnite

Everyone knows that creators have to go by the rules of the company and can’t say some things that make the game look bad - gsmvoid is one of the people that said it was slow and he isn’t a partner but everyone that is a parter says the game is great but frankly it’s not beta was 10x better the game just didn’t stick
