This was a great piece, Hannah. From shedding light on a situation that is developing as the sport grows to some very cool behind the scenes stuff. Thank you!
You really did a fantastic job with this video! The editing, the commentary...everything about this video was done brilliantly! This is one of the best disc golf videos I've seen...didn't want it to end. What you are describing is exactly why I don't think I would enjoy being famous. Privacy is something that I cherish and I can't think of anything my privacy is worth trading for....
Never seen that side of a major or any tournament before, definitely seems like something could be done for players’ families to have somewhere to watch. Despite that, great to see you out there doing everything you can to support Paul.
like sitting or being with every other paying spectator like the NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL player families? This is some privileged BS right here - who pays for her husband to be so famous? The fans...
Thanks for this Hannah. It’s cool to see behind the scenes on how much goes into a major PDGA event. As cool as it is, as an introvert, I felt exhausted watching it. I don’t know how you two do it, but I appreciate your openness and your honesty in your videos that even you find it a struggle sometimes. Keep forging your path, you’re doing great!
Just found your channel. I find it most refreshing to see the behind the scenes goings on. I do not play DG but I love to watch both mens and women’s tournaments. The camaraderie amongst players is really enjoyable to watch. The almost impossible fairways make disc golf a much better sport to watch by far then ball golf. I am a convert. Thanks for the blog. Cheers from 🇨🇦
Great video Hannah. Great insights and I LOVE that you are honest about what you are feeling and some of the struggles being in the spotlight when just trying to watch Paul's round.
Great video. I appreciate and respect the honesty. Hannah you are in an elite class of disc golf vlogs, right up there with Simon. We love your videos and commentary and all your hard work!
Most arena pro sports teams like Football, Baseball, Basketball, etc have a family box reserved for family members of the players where they can socialize with each other and not be bothered by the regular fans. Of course a sport like golf or disc golf this is much harder to implement if you wish to follow them around the course, but in these arena sports as well, the family member generally does not have direct contact/close proximity to the player so there is not really a support system in those arena sports when you consider it.
I hope in the future they find a better solution for spouses to be able to walk with the players or at least a space for them to be separated from the fans during play. I understand that all of the fans are just excited to see Paul, but there is a time and place for that. Keep the content coming!!
It sounds as if you were caught in the vortex of an event which grew way out of the organizers' expectations and planning. No one expected the European open to grow that big. Next year, hopefully, they will get it more smoothly. Thank you for your perspective and to give us a look behind the curtain.
You are both great ambassadors for the sport and our country and we thank you. We moved recently from a small town where we did a lot of community stuff and everyone knew my wife and I. This new place is awesome because we are totally ANONYMOUS and it is quite awesome! I can relate to what you go through in a tiny tiny way, and even at that tiny level it is really hard to deal with all the stuff from all directions. I cannot even imagine what you both must deal with on a constant basis with the status you have. Hang in there and make time for Mario Kart with each other. (We've been married 35 yrs this June.) Thanks for the videos!
Amazing video. Sad to hear there were so many complications with being able to support paul how you wanted and also having to deal with fans. Hopefully in years to come things will progress and you'll be able to be around him to support how you want, even if it's not in person.
Great Vlog and comments. I enjoyed watching the tournament shots. If you are doing the commentary I would watch because you have a gift for commentary...and editing...oh, and I think you are really good at disc golf. Looking forward to the disc golf tips and disc reviews.
I was really hoping Paul was going to roll his window down when driving into the tournament and ask a fan what was going on there today. 😂 Thanks for the great video. Sounds like they need to allow a caddie +1 family member. They have to realize some couples or families travel together. I think it needs to be caddie + whatever number they decide, although. This would encourage caddies, which I'd like to see more of.
No, that’s stupid. There needs to be a rule that includes player + a caddie. And that caddie needs to actually be a Caddie on the bag, or just whomever walking with them. And if you don’t start the round with a caddie, you can’t add one partway through a round.
True. I went to the 2005 US open @ Pinehurst and stood right beside Sergio Garcia's dad. People didn't bother him. Sorry you were bothered Hannah but I think it's just part of the sport. People will be more cool as the sport grows
Should have backhanded Terry for that comment! 😂 As disc golf grows and more fans show up to events it probably will get harder to follow Paul on course. Being who you are people know you and will want to interact.
I got to see my first PDGA tournament this past weekend at the New World Championship in Jacksonville. it was cool to be able to walk that close to the players. Paul is really awesome. He barely throws the disc and it goes 500ft. I should have volunteered to be a spotter or a scorekeeper. I'm bummed that I didn't volunteer to help. Love that Udisc Hat.
So refreshing. I have played for a year. And the content on UA-cam about discgolf is same same same - or just dull. Hope to see more personal experiences - and honest videos - not only from you Hannah! Come on everyone!
I was at Worlds, and it definitely crossed my mind how strange it was that you had to walk through us peons. There should be one or 2 more allowed to follow the players. They shouldn't make it harder on the average spectator for the handful of bad seeds though. The last thing a spectator wants, is to feel as if they've been herded like cattle all day, after spending their hard earned money.
Yeah man I went to Stockton 2 years ago and I swear man you couldn’t even be apart from the group without them getting upset basically if you picked that card you had to stay cuz there was no way to get back lmao but I went this year too and not only was the course set up different they also had designated lanes for people who wanted to switch cards and not be in the way.
"Lol there is no b roll" That sort of editing humor is why we love you, Hannah. But it's wild that they don't have something special for players' loved ones. You deserve better
Not to say the nba is on the same level as disc golf, but I think how they do the sideline seats/celebrities in the front is smart. Separate entrance, exit, the rest of the public can’t get to them, etc. it would be nice to have pros have up to 2 family members on the side and have a separate area for them so they can watch. Most courses I think could accommodate that
Thats why I just like posting up at hole 18 if I am spectating or volenteer. I have learned a lot about etiquette at events as of late. You as family deserve more respect when spectating. Thanks for sharing.
Not even the NFL, NBA, UFC etc do that. Only tennis does that to my knowledge. Every special area interms of following the card for family is a potential higher price spectator pass. A UFC fighter had his mom/wife catcalled by drunk fans and in the end those fans were rich guys who spent money on seats and overpriced booze.
As disc golf grows there will be boxes like there are at PGA events where spouses/families can be away from fans if they purchase the rights to be there, but I don't think it should be a priority. Anyone who isn't a player, caddie, or part of the live production should be behind the ropes. Not only does it give the sport a more professional appearance, but it's the standard for all other major sports. Another option is hiring a bodyguard or two to maintain a bubble around your little group.
Professional Disc Golf has been lucky so far, with everybody involved being pretty good people. As the sport continues to grow, it is going to attract some of the same kinds of kooks we see at every other type of sporting events. Security for the golfers as well as their partners and families is going to be a big deal. I don't know what the answer is, but disc golf needs to figure it out before there is an incident that everybody will regret.
I love this idea but wonder how it would be monitored logistically? How many people would each player get inside this special area? Do they have to be family? Just friends? Just people they know? Does it cost more? Or are they just getting in free cuz they are married to or dating someone? Or a family member? Not that that's bad or good.
I remember back in the old days (early 2000s), when I spectated at USDGC. The player access was amazing and super-chill. It was thrilling to see world champs and be so close to your favorite player. Everyone that I saw was respectful and considerate. That is our history, but the present is VERY different. The spectators are not always as respectful, and much more numerous. The PDGA needs to work harder at navigating the demands of celebrity and the needs of the celebrity families, who are now becoming celebrities by association. PDGA, PLEASE listen to Hannah and her concerns. Prepare and plan, don’t wait for something to happen before you listen. Thank you, Hannah for your courage.
The thing at 4:13 is a "velomobile", which is pretty much the most efficient vehicle on Earth. Specifically, I think that was a "Quattrovelo". To give you an idea of just how efficient these things are, when electrified, they can get about 3,000 miles-per-gallon equivalent at 30mph. On pedal power alone, they are roughly twice as fast as conventional bicycles.
Disc golf growth problems! I miss the good ol days of maybe a 100 spectators and i didn't have to pay to watch in person. Hopefully all these issues get resolved. Don't like hearing that you and celebs don't feel protected and safe.
I love that disc golf has really taken off as a sport, and the recognition that it is getting, but I really miss the simple days of the past (Vibram Open for me) when you could basically walk right along with the players the whole round.
I can imagine that it can be overwhelming in the crowd. Every person thinks their questions are unique. And in reality you hear the same ones over and over. And I am sure some questions are not appropriate for you to answer. If you are stuck in this position in the future, find a family and tell the dad you want to hang near them to keep people from asking you questions. A dad will get it. I would. I would put you in the family bubble and no one would bug you. Haha. I have done it for my daughters at concerts for years.
Totally understand where you're coming from and a few people per player on the card seems very reasonable. Your vlogs are always fun as was this one, see you in 2023!
Ok Hannah I don't know you or Paul. I have never met either of you. I can relate to Paul as far as the way he got good at disc golf by himself practicing alot its how I moved from Advanced Am To pro...any way..... If you don't feel safe at any tourney...Maybe Paul needs to make an announcement about approaching his wife while he is playing?? Maybe that will help or maybe not..... what do I know....just a thought 🤔 Or It's always possible to hire private security for the vip spectators or just have Hannah's giant "uncle/security guard " Brutus!! just follow you everywhere....
Interesting stuff behind the scenes. Certainly, some concerns that I'd never imagine as a general fan. Perhaps a downside to the burgeoning popularity of disc golf. I don't know what it was like at the bigger tournaments 5-10 years ago, but I remember courses in my hometown were never full. Some funny bits in there (trying to get Paul to try the drink, his choice of CD, etc.). It's awesome to get to see the personal sides of you and Paul (and also some guests). Thanks for sharing. Perhaps you bringing some of these points to the attention of the TDs will help. I'm assuming they haven't had to deal with the concerns you raised that much thus far.
Hannah is really awesome at this. Our sport benefits greatly from someone with this level of emotional intelligence. Thanks for being calm, vulnerable, and authentic amidst the chaos and frustration. Unrelated: How about the breakout season that Lauri is having!? Cheers.
Ah the problems with success and fame. I totally get where she is coming from. I watched all 4 rounds at the USDGC and people were relentless with wanting autographs at inappropriate times. They wouldn't even let them eat lunch in peace. It seems harmless enough but it doesn't stop. You won't ever get people to change their behavior though so the only solution is to remove yourself from the situation or have a no autograph and no talking to fans policy (even then people will try constantly and call you a B). She is used to being able to be right there with Paul and be able to experience the rounds live and in person. Unfortunately this becomes more and more difficult as the sport grows. Unfortunately they have more than enough trouble with just normal crowd control without having some sort of separate place for family to walk. Having a special private place at the venue to watch on screen becomes more possible with more and more money involved but I wouldn't count on that being a thing anytime soon either. As far as the clubhouse and feeling in the way, I bet that is really amplified by the language barrier. I would feel the same way. Seems like her best bet is to caddie for Paul more often and just stay away more often. Sounds rough, but I'm guessing many famous athletes spouses just end up staying away for a lot of the same reasons. I don't see this situation getting better for her at big events unfortunately. As always though, very very well done video with very relatable content. I mean not that we can relate to the problems with fame but she gets it across in a very relatable way. I love that she included the inopportune period timing though. That seems pretty relatable and a lot of other people would leave that out. Nice touch. She would get less hassle from fans if she didn't vlog I bet, but that would be a shame. Her videos are always so good.
Maybe this is joking and I didn't pick up on but at the time frame of 15:30 them talking about a new button and Terry Miller says "That is called my Hannah button, although known as a mute button" 🤦♀️🤦♀️
No you’re not crazy and we understand where you’re coming from. You’re not trying to be elitist or a brat. You’re just trying to have an enjoyable experience while supporting your husband without being in the way.
If cards start to be filled with "family and friends" I'm out. Doesn't happen in any other sports so why it should happen in Discgolf? Caddy is fine but that should be it.
honestly came into this thinking hey, it is what it is and as time goes on only a caddy will probably be able to follow but it does make sense to have another area for family and high profile guests to stay separate from the crowds since people have no freaking idea how to act anymore. Tournament directors should probably see how they deal with this stuff on the pga tour as those are way bigger crowds with way more high profile guests and then see how they deal with it.
Thank you for sharing all of this! Disc golf, as a professional sport is about to change rapidly. I expect you'll be allowed security (SUHKURITY!! SUHKURITY!!) personnel and more privacy. The game itself will have officials (like referees) and will be more closely monitored. The unorganized events won't be tolerated. So, there are good points and bad points to where it is now. But, you have a great attitude and your insight to the behind the scenes is awesome. I hope you'll continue to do more. You're in a unique position, as you are well aware AND I can't friggin' wait to see you record the occurrence where you say "Do you know who I am?!! I am MRS. PAUL MCBETH!! Let's see some RESPECT!!" But as compassionate, composed and intelligent as you are, I don't really think I will ever get to see that. 🙂Cheers!
My observations and opinions, though you've already said you won't read the comments. It's not apparent why you need to be at the course to support him. It's hard to imagine what you could do from a VIP peanut gallery that he actually needs while playing. I get that you want to watch, but disc golf courses are not set up like basketball arenas where you have space for a VIP area built into the architecture of the place. I think you have to face the fact that you're a celebrity wife, and a UA-cam 'celebrity' in your own right. What do other people do? Lots of the players have significant others, where do those people go during the event? Maybe the answer is, "they're not there"? Disc golf is growing in popularity, and you bring up some good points about security at the events. One hopes these problems continue to be addressed in the coming seasons. It could take only one bad thing happening at a disc golf event for the whole sport to fall to dust.
You ever wonder why some Hollywood celebrities are complete dicks? It’s because people won’t give them space and they have found that being rude gives them a break.
Literally 0 controversial opinions here. I’d like my caddy AND wife to be with me. I think a good angle here would be individuals who suffer from anxiety; can they not have a caddy and a support person? Good thoughts either way, great vlog.
This was a great piece, Hannah. From shedding light on a situation that is developing as the sport grows to some very cool behind the scenes stuff. Thank you!

Battery Energy Drink... Yep! I discovered it in Stavanger, Norway. Good find!

Hang in there and make time for Mario Kart with each other. (We've been married 35 yrs this June.) Thanks for the videos!
Congrats on 10,000 subscribers, Hannah! You and Paul are the best of people.
Amazing video.
Sad to hear there were so many complications with being able to support paul how you wanted and also having to deal with fans. Hopefully in years to come things will progress and you'll be able to be around him to support how you want, even if it's not in person.
or maybe deal with it like every other major sport in the world where families sit with fans
always love your behind the scenes!! You not crazy, you have to feel comfy and you should have a section for just lounging no fuss
Great vlog! I love the honesty and I totally understand where you're coming from. You're not crazy.
Love to hear these behind the scene stories. Thank you for making them even when its a struggle.
So at 8:10 was that Simon playing Disc Golf Valley while his boss Jussi was speaking?
absolute legend
Great Vlog and comments. I enjoyed watching the tournament shots. If you are doing the commentary I would watch because you have a gift for commentary...and editing...oh, and I think you are really good at disc golf. Looking forward to the disc golf tips and disc reviews.
oh my goodness! the children chanting Ea-Glee was heartwarming
Hope you end up reading the comments! Lol. What model of the Vivo’s have you tried? Curious which model has a thicker sole & is more durable.
I was really hoping Paul was going to roll his window down when driving into the tournament and ask a fan what was going on there today. 😂 Thanks for the great video. Ball golf wives and families are not allowed inside the ropes, nor do most of them wish to. Just sayin.
True. I went to the 2005 US open @ Pinehurst and stood right beside Sergio Garcia's dad. People didn't bother him.
Sorry you were bothered Hannah but I think it's just part of the sport. People will be more cool as the sport grows
Most fun disc golf vlog on the interwebs.
14:58 the kids chanting Eagle "Eee-gleh eee-gleh" was pretty cool.
Had no idea Lauri Markannen was an enjoyer of disc golf. Guy’s having a breakout season this year in NBA. Cool to see!
Oh hell yeah glad he's on my Jazz
wait what
NBA is still a thing?
Should have backhanded Terry for that comment! 😂 As disc golf grows and more fans show up to events it probably will get harder to follow Paul on course. Being who you are people know you and will want to interact.

Hope to see more personal experiences - and honest videos - not only from you Hannah! Come on everyone!
Loved the New England "I'm wicked thirsty!" from Hannah!
I actually bring up the ice cream isles in Finland when people ask about our trips there.
You need to post more content, everything you post is remarkable. Need to be more positive of the work you do , it is all really good.

Battery+ is ok I guess. ;) Nicely put together, the raw material must have been such a patchwork^^

There should be a plus one area for spouses or whoever you choose so they can feel safe without being bombarded 24/7. I feel you.
Get rid of all the pesky spectators and annoying press! It was so nice and quiet in 2020 or 2015 lol.
Not even the NFL, NBA, UFC etc do that. Only tennis does that to my knowledge. Every special area interms of following the card for family is a potential higher price spectator pass. 💯 DGPT should have a green room/tent

I’m curious to the reasons behind not being able to walk with the player.
I can see setting a cap on number of people who can walk with the players.
Really enjoyed the behind the scenes. Thanks for the video Hannah
“It’s just Udisc”!!!????? Wash your mouth! 😂 ❤ this though. Thank you.

Now I just want to know who wins at Mario Kart...

Spill the tea Hannah, spill all the tea!
you got to have a celebrity disguise
I enjoyed the video. Thank you for your open, down to earth point of view.
Appreciate the honesty and bts of the tour. You make very entertaining vids.
Good points
Talking about men’s height when your man’s is the shortest👎🏼 good thing Paul is the goat cuz that’s just straight mockery for the average bro
Very interesting to see. Thanks
Not sure how Udisc felt about the two burns though. Lol
Terry is a legend.
Hannah being a savage at @4:55
Maybe this is joking and I didn't pick up on but at the time frame of 15:30 them talking about a new button and Terry Miller says "That is called my Hannah button, although known as a mute button" 🤦♀️🤦♀️
You guys moved to Florida?
I was gonna San no Ricky? But I spotted the bucket hat 😂🤣. USA
They had porta potties for food only? love seeing that!
"i couldnt get to the front"
"they looked at me when my high profile husband just shanked" lmao
Wii fit music respect
No you’re not crazy and we understand where you’re coming from. You’re not trying to be elitist or a brat. You’re just trying to have an enjoyable experience while supporting your husband without being in the way.
huh? this comes off as 1000% elitist. NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL player's families sit in the stands with everyone else
I can understand your concerns. Since their is only 4 on a card, be nice if each player could have 2 vips per player in addition to a caddy.
My issue is Eagle McMahon doesn’t win as many majors as beast or goat
If cards start to be filled with "family and friends" I'm out. Doesn't happen in any other sports so why it should happen in Discgolf? Caddy is fine but that should be it.
honestly came into this thinking hey, it is what it is and as time goes on only a caddy will probably be able to follow but it does make sense to have another area for family and high profile guests to stay separate from the crowds since people have no freaking idea how to act anymore. Tournament directors should probably see how they deal with this stuff on the pga tour as those are way bigger crowds with way more high profile guests and then see how they deal with it.
I think I was your 10k subscriber
🙂Cheers!
It's been way too long. Glad to see you doing your thing
It could take only one bad thing happening at a disc golf event for the whole sport to fall to dust.
agreed, this comes off as elitist
Cool NF shirt!!!
Markkanen was nice surprise. But, yeah, You should learn some finnish ;)..probably You know some estonian already and they are so similar.
I love your vlogs Hannah and I totally agree with you on your issue.
Chill video, omg, Paul needs to keep it down downstairs so you can do your editing dude, how rude Great efforts though, great work, represent
You telling everyone you got your period made me giggle.
You go girl!
You ever wonder why some Hollywood celebrities are complete dicks? It’s because people won’t give them space and they have found that being rude gives them a break.
Every time you don't wear your invisaline, you have to start over. Just keep it in.
This is my favorite comment forever
Enjoyed the video! Let me know where to send you my address for the UDisc hat giveaway! 😉
Literally 0 controversial opinions here. I’d like my caddy AND wife to be with me.
I think a good angle here would be individuals who suffer from anxiety; can they not have a caddy and a support person?
Good thoughts either way, great vlog.
